My podcast “The back 9 pod”

Now if you’ve not seen Rory mooy’s interview from today you need to listen to this because he outlines his ideal live golf Vision yes if you heard me right he outlines his ideal live golf Vision now this has all come after an interview ahead of this week’s event on

The DP World Tour pretty much what we class as the season opener for 2024 now he was asked a host of questions on what he thinks of a World Golf Tour on live golf on John RAM on resigning from the PJ tour policy board and on the

Masters so there are a few points that we need to go through now the first question that he was asked was all to do with having a World Golf Tour his response was this going forward if everything is on the table Vues have to play a big part of the considerations

When we need to make sure the courses are worthy of the players who are going to be competing my dream scenario is a world tour with the provisor that that Corporate America has to remain a big part of it all Saudi Arabia too change your tune here haven’t you his stance is

Definitely softening I would say that’s just basic economics he says but there is an untapped commercial opportunity out there investors always want to make a return on their money revenues at the PJ tour now are about 2.3 billion so how we get that number up to four or six to

Me is looked by looking outward they need to think internationally and spread their wings a bit I’ve been banging the drum for a while now all I’m going to say he may well have been banging this drum for a while but his stance has been very much the opposite to this or let’s

Say how the golf media have been betrayed and I’ll be honest how he’s betrayed himself in interviews with his stance of joining with live golf this sounds very very different now with all these statements that Rory has said let me know what you think of him and I say

That again not only let me know what you think of what he said but now what do you think of him like I’m a massive Rory maroy fan and I just find it hard that he’s taken such a U-turn and his stance on the Saudi bat League live has taken a

Very softened approach I really find it strange right now he was then asked question on live golf and this is where it gets interesting if it is done like the IPL Cricket model team competition has a chance in golf I’ve said what I’ve said about live I think it’s a confusing

Product and what they need to do is lean more into the team stuff if you want to make your team franchise viable especially if you’re not going to get world ranking points then dive deep into team golf I could see eight event schedule with four events in the spring

And four more events in the fall if like the IPL like team thing I would enjoy it hugely there is an opportunity there to move within the bigger ecosystem now again I’ve said this from the other day this is what I’m getting he’s hinting this is actually happening

I honestly think this is the way it’s going to go but again a definitely change in stance now I do have to say this Rory has held his hands up and said in the past he has said some wrong things he has not only being a bit harsh

And not understood the full product but he was um I guess a little bit critical at that time I do go with what I say though I think the John Ram move has definitely forced him to soften his approach he was then asked on John Ram

His Ridder cup teammate a good friend of his what his stances I was factually incorrect in my comments to in the wake of John’s going to live he’s still a member of the DP worldour so he’s still eligible I’ll take that one on the chin all I was

Really trying to say was that we need John RAM on the European team whatever way that can happen it’s not that we absolutely need him but our chances are clearly better if he’s there and he’s referring to the Ridder cup like none of us can lie John Ram is a crucial member

Of the Ridder Cup team but I think people are finding it hard that his stance has completely changed than Stenson went when Ian polter went when Lee Westwood went now I know they’re totally different players and arguably on the descending area of their career but Stenson was a team captain just

Interesting isn’t it I I I just think it’s it’s hard and again I want to reiterate he has taken a lot of these comments on the chin he was then asked about resigning to the PGA Tour policy board now Rory was a vocal person in this PJ tour policy board and when it

All came out out with the live golf merger he said he felt like a sacrificial lamb now on these questions his statement was this getting out of all the things of politics has definitely cleared my head I don’t feel like I’m caught up in it all for the

Last two years every time I’d be walking from the locker room to the range I’d be stopped by someone with a couple of questions I get it it must have been so hard like that sounded really sarcastic I definitely didn’t mean that way like I bet it was very hard to concentrate on

What actually his career is and that’s playing golf and playing golf bloody well I get that I made myself a go-to guy I was on a board and I knew what was going on so I felt like I could speak to it now if someone asks me I can honestly

Say I don’t know what’s going on I can’t give it the best opinion anymore because they aren’t based on absolute facts I think it’s the best move that he had just get back to playing golf now the final part of this interview he was asked about the Masters and I find this

Really strange what he said here and again with all these parts let me know what you say this is your home of breaking news in the golf industry so be sure to subscribe turn the Bell that way I can keep you up to date with everything that’s going on in the golf

Industry and it’s going to start hotting up as we approach the season and so much news is going to be coming your way so on the Masters he said this I’ve just said all I have to say about the Masters I’d love to win it if I don’t I probably

Will look back and think I missed out on something I did an interview a few years ago when an interviewer asked me if I felt like I deserved a green jacket I don’t deserve anything the game has given me more than enough I have to go

Out there and earn it people can say that the course suits my game and all they want I have to go out there and play the golf I’m on a pretty strong list of players who have won three or four majes but I’d like to be on the

Shorter list of those who have won all four I do think he deserves and I do think at some point in his career he will win The Masters he’s too good of a player not to do it the only thing that can hold him back is the little bit of a

Voodoo on his shoulder but I honestly think that could be this year with all the politics out the window with that pushed aside he can focus directly on the Masters and you know what I think he’s got a great chance this year thanks so much for watching this is your home

  1. Rory's stance is not 'just softening'…It is completely reversing – but would you expect anything different from this super hypocrite. Since when has Rory been banging the drum of a world tour. Does he think that playing a DP World event here and there (so long as it doesn't impact his PGA Tour schedule) is his evidence!! Rory is now espousing so many of the LIV talking points. Now cue all the legacy media to start promoting it as Rory's idea – yeah it's not like Greg Norman has for at least 30 years been talking about a world tour with all the best players competing. It's not like LIV have been talking about teams and world tour. Wow thank god Rory has now given us all a direction golf can head in rather that the status quo of just an American tour with elite events to line his pockets and to hell with the rest of the world.

  2. Rory giving advice on how to run a company (LIV GOLF) he should focus on his putting, corporate politics is not his strength

  3. If I was anybody on the Liv Golf board, or if I was a Liv Golf player……. Why would I give a rats ass what Rory thinks. He has made himself into a NOTHING BURGER. I personally could care less what Rory says or where he plays golf. He’s probably the most disliked golfer in all of Palm Springs among other golf locals.
If I was a PGA pro, Rory doesn’t represent me. Rory has only ever been concerned about Rory. Period!

  4. LIV have thought this through more than Rory has and LIV would have ideas and plansof how the tours can work together and coexist. Rory sees that LIV is popular and is not going away anytime soon. He appears to be signalling that he is ready to smoke the peace pipe. Im sure LIV would listen to any ideas Rory has but remembering that Rory is vested in new ideas with Tiger Woods

  5. Geez Rory, just stop the grovelling, apologize for your stern behaviour and make amends. Then go away and play golf because you just seem to be digging yourself into a deeper hole.

  6. Said it before and will say it again, he cannot make his considered comments, that he did about LIV players and LIV Golf and now, once Rham moves over, open up to agreeing with LIV golf in different circumstances without being a hollow man and without principle!

  7. I cannot respect Rory for being a Man U fan. That said – his idea isn’t bad. Sorta happy he has done 180 and have a vision for LIV and PGA Tour whilst still being on the PGA/DP World Tour. Him also saying he was too harsh and wrong about things I can respect.

  8. I used to be a Rory fan. But when he was so critical of Liv golf he lost me. Now I wouldn't believe a word he says. And I hope Liv golf ban him. I do not want to see him playing in Liv golf. The arrogant #$&$

  9. You have to remember, he was singing the party line, probably not his own thoughts. Maybe he has decided to speak his own mind. Also, he will win the Masters one day.

  10. Your breaking news is great, thank you. Is it not hypocrisy if DP do not ban and fine J.Rahm from European golf, like they did Stenson and others, who also left to LIV? Rory”s problem with comparing LIV and golf to IPL, is that cricket IS a team sport, and golf is not, and also Cricket is liked worldwide, BECAUSE it is a team sport. Rory also talking about making a better model for players to play golf internationally, something that Greg Norman has been trying to do for golf for ages, and he finally did it. No the best golfers, like Rahm, and maybe Rory? Want to be part of…International golf, on many better courses than they play weekly on the PGA tour

  11. Think Rory is beginning to realize that LIV can't be wished away and that maybe he's thinking if he changed his stance on it, that he just maybe can get an offer from LIV before it's too late and get some of that money…lol

  12. Embarrassing for Rory and his followers, feel sorry for them. He has let down both golfers and backers by insulting leadership and making demands he was in no position make, such as Greg Norman being dismissed. LIV do not want him and he ought not to be any part of determining their future.

  13. How can you actually work out these players out that had the sooks up? One minute it’s blood money they were accepting, then when it’s Rahm accepting way more blood money than you could imagine it’s “all OK then, who would blame him” ? Unbelievable!

  14. Rory isn't a person anyone should be looking up to …Greg Norman has always stuck to his guns no matter what has been thrown at him …rory is a cock .!!!!

  15. Until the world #1 golf player requires a real passport for OUS then nothing will change. LIV has been a breath of fresh air against a stale PGAT. OWGR must be provided substantially and fairly outside PGAT or the same will endure.

  16. LIV is a confusing product? WTF is he going on about? It's the exact same as everywhere else. They hit a ball into a hole.

Rory still thinks LIV can be relegated to a sideshow for a few weeks of the year. His comment about the team aspect is just him trying to put LIV in a box that doesn't compete directly with PGA. He's still in denial.

  17. Needs to apologize to Greg and all the LIV players and pretended did something unforgivably immoral. It was all a lie

  18. What i been saying liv vs pga end of the year event first week pga picks format liv picks course 2nd weekend repeat and reverse.

  19. The pga tour has been asleep at the wheel and lazy for way too long. They had Tiger for 20 years and rode it. I tried to tune in to watch a final round of the rocket mortgage up here in Canada and they had no coverage at all. Was an early start because of weather and tbey just didnt adjust. Almost all events go from 3-6pm and if your fav golfer had a morning start u can't watch it. Golf should be televised from 10am-6pm with 2 feature groups in the morning and 2 in the mid afternoon Thursday Friday. Weekends we should be able to see it all. Get people involved with the fantasy golf side of it. Longest drive/number of birdies/number of GIR/longest putt etc etc. The list goes on and on but they're still in the past too much.

  20. The funny thing that no one has questioned Greg Norman on is why he’s doing liv. If he remembered he wanted a serious of events for the best in the world ?
Um liv has 10 maybe of the top 50 and a lot of names past there prime ?
He says Liv is new ? Yes it’s noisy yes it’s 54 holes and shotgun starts and teams that come on who gives a about it’s just a trumped up league that wants to distroy golf for spectators
If they really wanted to do things like was the original idea have 10 or so events 30 best in world order of merit get invites 2 weeks prior and bring the best as the money could be massive (no bribery of the millions to steal players make them really earn there shot at it absurd money make it awesome and furthermore as a twist make it night golf ( golf really with a difference)
That’s if Greg Norman really cared about what he actually was saying as opposed to the truth I want to destroy golf

  21. To be honest, I'm not sure what people are bothered about. I reckon the mass majority of people who play golf don't even watch it so what does it matter what the professionals are doing.

  22. It's funny. They really think we'll still watch Liv Golf. Nope. All done. You punks can all play on your own. Goodbye.

  23. Just like Rory I’ve done a complete 180 u turn from being a massive Rory fan to longer bothering watching or listening to him. He is a fantastic player but just like the Ryder cup as become completely over hyped to the extent I’m no longer interested in either. The constant tv coverage of him and golf pundits excuses for him when he’s not in contention is unbearable just like their insistence that the Ryder cup is the pinnacle of a golfers career. Rory keep your mouth shut please and return the Ryder cup back to the 10 top players from the DP (European) tour + 2 picks not a qualifying system that guarantees all PGA tour based European players with a couple of DP tour players thrown in.

  24. Corporate America, some of them are pulling out, Wells Fargo & Farmers so far. Genesis Open is Korean Company, Sony is Japan, CJ Byron Nelson is another Korean company, Zurich classic is Swiss company, RBC is Canadian. They’re all Global Conglomerates. Rory better do some research on the sponsors.

  25. He wants a World Golf League as long as it is run by the PGA Tour with Saudi money footing the bill, how hard is that to understand. Team golf is a fundamental part of competition golf until you reach the pro level, that's a mistake and should be a full time part of professional golf. It gives the fans another way to come to the sport and show their support; people like a certain player in most team sports but actively root for the team as well. As for the Masters, you are 100% wrong. He doesn't 'deserve' it nor does anyone else, go earn it.

  26. I don't believe team golf will be financially successful. The Ryder cup is a one off event with a lot of patriotic motivations, not a league. If you look at other individual sports that tried a team concept, you will find a long list of failure. I really think Rory should avoid public opinions about other golfers or predictions about the sport and concentrate on his game. He's not running for office so stop the PR campaign.

  27. Rory is closing the loop on his five stages of GRIEF… DENIAL, ANGER, BARGAINING (now he wants a LIV offer LOL), DEPRESSION and ACCEPTANCE.

  28. Rory you need to stop , focus on playing golf, take time off with family get away from all the politics of this feud with LIV and the PGA , think about this next season please

  29. I'm a huge Rory fan. It takes courage to re-examine a situation and reach a new conclusion and own both positions. He consistently, in the moment, behaves with honor and dignity and truth. He has everything to be proud of, still….
    🎩✌️⛳️🏌‍♂️🏜

  30. So Rory is advocating a World Tour ? Back in 1994 when Norman and Nick Price led that discussion, then PGA Tim Finchem sent a memo to PGA Tour members telling them they would be banned if they participated. Thats when WGC events were started a few years later to be priortity events in different countries. Limited fields with elevated purses. The US decided to renege on that deal and played theae events in the US AGAINST the original agreement. Norman was bruised and has been waiting for a financial backer to support smaller tours around the World, and hence the formation of LIV. Rory is 25 years late on this idea and owes Greg Norman a MASSIVE apology. Greg will see this through, Jay will not.
