Oh flushed good flight so there’s just nothing like hitting a blade well right out the button Dynamic perfect just nothing like it all right guys welcome back to the channel new day new year no more happy New Year I’ve had enough I know I’m you

Said it to me the emails and the text oh Happy New Year’s but I need this I know but it is a new year in the sense of new product Michael it’s good time we have some new Ping irons through the door got the S we got the T blueprint s& T they

Actually made their way out in tour probably halfway through last year this is not a new product that you guys don’t know about they’ve been well documented played on the PJ tour for a number of months now we’re just getting into consumers hands yeah retail I know Adam

Scott dabbled with them someone asked me the other day they’re like oh what do you think I was like I have yet to hit them I have no clue we don’t know but don’t if they’re good enough for Adam Scott they must be pretty good without a doubt yeah lots of lots of

Players certainly dabbling and it’ll be interesting to see if there’s a few more um get into it now so as we said two models obviously S&T um few interesting things about the design of these ones Mikey both have the exact same specs start there I like that I mean The Lofts

Are all across the same so i230 TNS you can blend the sets and I think for us as Fitters will see quite a bit of blending with that I think I think you’ll see a lot of you know it 230 and maybe this in the shorter irons um I know when you

Played i230 for a hot minute there this is kind of what you were uh were looking for and then obviously the purest people who want the blade um again you can combo that which is nice yeah I this is this is uh a real I mean a real player

Iron is as much as a player iron ever gets I mean when we opened the samples and started taking a look at it I mean it is they’ve went to town on the smallness yeah yeah yeah I don’t uh I don’t need to be there

In the realm of some help some help some help’s good yeah um but I do like the stronger Lofts or stronger Loft ping obviously have retro and power spec as well should you want to go either side of that which is great um a 50 step manufacturing process 50 steps I checked

Your Apple watch you don’t take 50 steps a day never mind takes 50 steps to make an iron I’d love to know the 50 steps that’s a lot of steps to making iron that really is that’s that’s a lot to go into a blade think yeah we think about these as sort of

Less intricate in in their design but in true ping fashion engineering at the Forefront of all of it so they do have the the little screw in the toe here for enhancing Moi uh we weighed it we we took it out and weighed it five GS in

Here eight GS in the S so a little bit less Moi we want that in in a blade club we want the the sort of um CG to be more heels side that’s what gives the club the ability to to rotate gives the player the you know we talk about

Workability workability is your ability to manage the face so that’s what we want in a blade less so obviously a cavity back which is which is what we have here yeah um I think this is going to be a real winner yeah I’m hoping it’s

Uh the S I mean yeah I’m hoping the S is just got that little bit extra Edge over i230 i230 is a good iron I just thought it may be a little sluggish sometimes that’s all yeah I think it was uh I think it performed well in the the fitting

B you know some irons I look at when they they first come out and I just think to myself you could be do be 20% smaller that’s kind of what this is yeah and I said when I first saw this this I said that this is what I wanted I 230 to

Be mhm what you say I have set asses in your bag no no no no no we’re not there we’re not going there we’ll see all right um we’re going to do something a little bit different in the test today we obviously we have a a

Four seven wedge in the S 47 wedge in the T you’re going to start out by hitting them in the S cavity I’ll start hitting the t’s then we’ll switch CU I want to try and see because what we’re literally looking at a head-to-head difference every other part of the spec

Is the same um so it will give us a great opportunity to turn this into a little bit of a fitting video in that will give you a chance to see the difference between a cavity back and a blade head-to head what should you guys be looking at if you’re interested in

Blades should you be or what could a cavity offer you and vice versa so there is a little bit of a fitting element to this as well so why don’t you start off with the S okay okay Michael we’re in Dubai love it never been never been you

Know I’m not really interested in going to be honest with you I’m kind of past that face okay fair enough uh we’ve got you set up with 136 yards okay pitch and wedge big pitch and wedge that yeah new year new speed new Mikey new yardages blue press all right better perform 45

Degree pitch and wedge let’s see oh flushed good flight you know what you’ve actually been done there watch this because you moved the I know I didn’t move anything it’s landed right where the flag would have that would have dunked I would literally have dunked if that was 136

Yeah that would Lally have D shot one I try to do everything for the fans you know the commentators you love the commentators don’t you okay who who very nice distance to the flag is uh zero very close very close good I can’t do that outside I don’t know a hard game well

Two shots in your average is two and a half about two and a half feet from the stick Michael would you give me the p it can only get worse no oh not a chance all right cheers I’d give you the P you Zoro it around the hole quite

Nice pin High pin High well the good thing is we’re starting to test a little bit of the Moi a little bit of the cavity yeah we’re living a little bit out there it’s good stuff for that smaller head compared to an i230 like it doesn’t look intimidating or anything

Like that sh I like it it’s nice like no offset on the pitching very um okay give us one more be okay it’s okay I mean to be honest it’s it’s a good Miss it’s the pin position that makes that look worse than actually say it was a nice strike

Yeah okay let’s go um let’s go seven iron for you all right Mikey Let’s uh let’s take a look at the seven iron transition in shape yeah nice again very very little offset it’s a it’s a definitely a smaller iron but I don’t hate the look

Of it okay guys 20 29.5 no sorry 20 33 degrees of L 29.5 in the six IR uh 33 in the seven so strong irons that you Mikey you play you play 32 degrees seven iron yeah a blade traditionally is 34 so it’s kind of living in between those two yep

It’s good though yeah little ncky but it works it’s managing these misses really quite nicely bit thin but good good very good hit that bit better yeah crisper and high 72 yeah that was nice the handle down a we bit a we bit up today uhhuh strikes feel decent

Good lovely really nice that was better they’re nice and consistent on their uh on their standard deviation Mikey it seems that way yeah even on the couple that I mean I’m going to be picking know those three shots were you know they’re nice shots I take them all day long a

Couple not dead center but they they go exactly where you want them to go yeah andan there’s 7 out more censored wedge obviously was a bit more toy standard deviations really really tight guys very important one for us these days is uh making sure it’s really good okay couple

More buttoned yeah I thought I caught that a little heavy but it works was that a little high high in the face I think so yeah oh little Healy okay miky you don’t Curr currently carry a four arm neither do you carry a five iron I know but five iron is

Probably going to go back in the bag you would be crazy I hope you do cuz I’m play hybrid’s going to stay oh you going to put five iron and hyb that hybrid goes a bit too far good which is nice to say okay um so uh this is where the iron transitions

A little bit you’ve got a Pock pocket cavity you’ve got some you know little sort of elaser pocket in the back there yeah really driving that CG down trying to kind of enhance the ball speed a little bit on the four expecting to see a little bit more out of this here from

First looks at add dress it does not look forgiving I would prefer a g430 for a 4arm let’s see it pretty safe play yeah we’re pting yeah it’s probably what you would try and do actually you know it’s somebody who kind of tends to maybe air on the

Pool side of things play a little fade yeah you want me just to move the pen over there all right please good for the looks it is definitely a lot more uh forgiving than than I thought it would be necky get up got it and this is where

It’s going to be interesting when you do round two I want to see these strikes with the blade I mov be 10 yards closer 20 yards closer no you got to hit it from the same place 10 out of 10 yeah perfect pretty good as one could hit it pretty good oh right

Did it feel like that yeah this speaks volumes for the uh the Forgiveness of this thing yeah those four strikes cuz that’s why I want to see what the blade does because I think when you put those four strikes on the blade you end up in

A bit of trouble I swimming snorkel out uh okay your turn let’s switch all right fries 135 yards okay blueprint T pitch and wedge sounded crispy on the safe side tow down as well take it though yeah I like that guess being in the blade category this would be considered almost stronger

Lofted in a way yeah a degree at least a degree probably yeah but most wedges or yeah most blades are going to be 46 to 48 yeah yeah not many 48 now really though is there no maybe back in your day but not anymore back in my day they were 52 he

Wood strike dos on the on the the feel right out of the G feel feels lovely feels feels really nice really solid soft enough without being sort of you know without being like too soft sometimes I feel like if you get too soft it feels like you’re lacking some other

Performance yeah tight again that standard deviation super super tight on the pitch I like it I like it I like it all right FR seven iron transition into look of like that I mean obviously the pitching is pretty short he the toe it was very to seven iron still similar

Shape this is close to perfect yeah close to perfect I feel like if honestly if it had like a you stamp Mir in the back of this like the the things people would say about it yeah yeah sounded good we touching the heel not bad you getting out of the

Blade with that little help of that weight you’ve missed it a fraction I mean any other blade grab a pure blade out of the drawer and miss it like that yeah I don’t think it’s going to keep up with you know ball speed and Club speed and yeah you got it to the

Target a slightly better strike the first one sounded good I’m very aware of how flat they’re coming in great swing yeah it was good do you feel like these lack any forgiveness I would say the first one tested the best yeah and it done really well out that heel strike

So I’m not I’m not sensing that okay um you know I think on standard deviation on strike yeah that’s going to be an important one for us to look at here right so my standard deviation on strike is 2 millim heel 2 mm low um so like between us two like

There’s going to be a reason why as Fitters we go well standard deviation moves towards this we want un a cavity Mak sense that type of thing but yeah right now we’re okay one more seven yeah it felt quite good I sounded compressed it was just it’s just the

Face is a hair open but all the all the strikes I feel like in a good spot Mikey it’s okay A little drifty mhm fraction face open yeah closer that’s a great strike yeah all day say there’s just nothing like hitting a blade well that a right out the button dynamic’s perfect

Just nothing like it probably the biggest mess of the bunch Mikey yeah little skinny toy okay yeah I could feel it done pretty good though yeah yeah really good again on the misses you’re not in you’re not in trouble though again for a blade You’re Expecting maybe

A larger Miss MH from a poor strike and I mean you didn’t you haven’t sacrificed anything no no it was it was okay it wouldn’t wouldn’t certainly I wouldn’t I couldn’t go and play it I just couldn’t no no I mean a 210 blade for iron like even regardless

Of the player you are you think about it’s a lot even at your best of best like I just wouldn’t want it no no I definitely wouldn’t want no okay let’s tag in all right Michael uh I like the way we’ve done this your JW gets harder

Second time mine gets easier second time I like this story of my life it’s almost like it was orchestrated that way yep what you try to say no nothing nothing okay 135 let’s see it okay same Loft just lovely little draw move the target line to the right obviously of

The the flag Mikey because we are trying to we’re trying to hit the green basically tucked in the left edge of the green that was a lovely little shot that’s better lovely okay two more lovely different yeah Center gravity moving up changes the launch and spin okay great okay good all right

Seven okay 17 170 flag you’ve got 160 to cover the oh to the front the green yeah yeah plenty right tons of Club toe it’s going to work I love that one those are the enjoyable ones with blades aren’t they yeah that’s the one

Shot where you go hm yeah can go back to blades oh man you’ve not had enough bad days with blades in your bag to eliminate any of those thoughts gorgeous okay one more not bad okay on to the four o i no business no business touching this

Thing just keep the AR same jeez I might as well 135 can I Tee It Up lucky just got enough on it nice strike yeah okay a couple more hopefully right for that path it’s a nice shot take that all day I don’t expect to be hitting many

Greens from 200 yards out with this I felt good beautiful very nice Majestic some might say yep lovely hold your head up you little rascal you little rascal that’s pure l that was right out of the heel all right fres blueprint s pitching wedge thoughts on looks right out of the

Gates not bad yeah pretty good pretty clean again I I I for the little offset that the wedge has and I find a lot of pitching wedges generally have some offset to them MH for blending sets I 230 like I could see a triple blend set

Of 230 s and t in I mean the obviously the L match we know that but looks wise they they all look really really really close interesting point let we’ll go back to when we do the Roundup I’m not sure it’s that easy you think I think it

Makes sense I think logically makes sense I think I think it might be a bigger challenge than we think we’ll see we’ll see we’ll see right wedgie we’ve got 135 pulled it very similar numbers to the the blade actually isn’t it launch and spin you definitely feel less of the missish

Hit oh yeah for sure the frame this Frame definitely absorbs a lot of that feels great actually I think the the the feel of it is very solid good when you mention the frame obviously now that I’ve hit both wait till you get to the four iron that’s

Where the that’s where the nice feel the frame helps yeah and I think it’s the frame and I think it’s the pocket yeah we’re so used to clubs hitting clubs now that have some of that kind of deep undercut cavity in there the last two felt much better than the first two so

Easy okay FR blueprint S7 iron like I said to you earlier when when you mentioned the frame this is where the help starts to to really kick in that’s a great looking 7R Yeah clean not too bad I tell you I can see why PJ’s tour players gravitate towards this one yeah

They’re not distance enhancing no no no they’re really not they’re they’re okay but you can are not going to get more than you deserve you’re going to get what you deserve I think too with the the the tightness that we’ve seen throughout this test already of that standard deviation probably why these

Players now trust these irons with a little bit of a frame or some perimeter waiting or some help cuz they’re not they’re not a jumper they’re not a flyer by any means no no for sure yep neck that felt necky but it maybe more thin done well

Yeah so stay there a little bit a little bit more confidence knowing there’s that frame back there perimeter waiting the elastomer like everything that is going to help that ball obviously get up in the air but give you a little bit more help on the Miss hit definitely it’s one

Of the things I loved about the Muno 223s similar sort of idea little bit kind of a bit more help the deeper that pocket cavity went yeah this kind of reminds me of that sticking it into the middle of the green one Mikey it’s a safe place I’ll

Take it feel kind of more of the energy in the club for sure with this one little bit more help definitely sounded like a better strike yeah that was pretty decent got some legs on it doing 220 carry it’s just got help where you would

Hope it would have you know what I mean it’s just it’s not just relying to the combo set idea yeah I can see this maybe in with some te’s yeah for a lot of players sounded good high no it wasn’t High not bad sounded out of the B

Middle kind of just fell above the meat yeah but no it was fine little thin no it was okay that was okay okay so Mikey let’s go firstly with your wedge blueprint s 104 ball speed you drop four miles hour little less spin with the T little wider standard deviation four less yards

No right drop off for sure s’s uh the 7 170 versus 166 so a similar four yard loss a little bit of speed drop yep yep spin similar slightly up but um so definitely seeing some losses even though the the the loft is the same uh

Into the 4 IR actually done pretty well to retain I mean the closest relationship I think you’ve got in ball speed is with the the 4 there’s a lot couple Lucky Strikes with the blueprint T4 iron he close my eyes at impact 195 and 196 yeah I think partly why that’s

Why like 4 in is no good for you because whether you’ve got blade whether you’ve got cavity whatever it is they’re all short of the distance they should go that’s a 210 club for you totally um and and 195 is not cutting it with uh with that so new speed that’s six iron

Territory exactly okay so over to myself Michael uh I started off with the t’s 103 ball speed with a wedge 103 with a t s y two yards in it picked up some spin yeah with the uh with the S that’s interesting let’s look at that 86 slightly quicker Club head speed

Efficiency was the same delivered a little bit more W that’s all so all on me um 7 hour 122 versus 120 one little bit more ball speed with the S three more yards spin very very similar launch within half a degree yeah quite quite similar three yards I think that’s what

You’re going to see between these two models irons regardless of the ping or Cirus on our Titleist that s is meant for just a little bit extra help um yeah look at the yeah look at the difference that this is where it starts to get you know better and different you know nine

More yards a carry um similar in Peak height interesting launch and spin was up a little bit with the T CG yeah makes sense right Club head speed a little bit quicker with the S up a little bit so we’re kind of looking at why as to your kind of comment earlier

On about combo sets we probably I could play a combo set what I could play the blades or the cavities in the wedon seven and then I need to go to the cavity in the four totally right that’s that’s what this test tells yeah you

Know as about me uh for yourself uh it was more about actually all the way through really yeah you you just probably would want to stay cavity I would never want to see a four yard drop from my pitching wedge or my seven iron

At all um so yeah I would stay I would stay s’s throughout or a g434 iron yeah in there to get that distance a little bit more I mean you could power speec the the S as well but yeah I definitely wouldn’t want to sacrifice the distance

Yeah ball speed there uh we want to we want to definitely take advantage of that carry numbers nice seven irons Head to Head 170 higher straighter yeah yeah all those good stuff all those good things so guys I think what we’re seeing is you know two lovely irons and then from a

Comboing perspective yes you can but you have to go through the process be careful what you combo yeah exactly you’ve got to you got to kind of know what you’re getting from both uh looking at sort of the long the mid and the short it’s it’s actually quite revealing

Isn’t it and don’t look at the S as a a player distance iron or game improvement iron it’s nothing like that so get for it if you’re if you’re interested in them yeah for for those interested like it’s t00 territory totally yeah yeah same category for sure definitely

Definitely okay very impressed uh the blade is for a select Bunch the S is for still a select Bunch no I’m not putting that out there that that’s an I2 I thought it was an i230 replacement I thought it was what I wanted i230 but it’s not it’s not it’s not but it’s

Impressive I I mean I haven’t dabbled with many ping irons I’ve had a set way back in the day but I mean if someone said you know gun to your head you have to play a ping iron be blueprint ass you definitely could definitely definitely okay guys let us know your thoughts on

This uh Blades versus cavities love when manufacturers start to take in into consideration the comboing of them um ping will obviously think of all the little details the CG locations Etc ET the progression of Soul width all that stuff that you need to take advantage of

To make sure it has Merit to do so great points good stuff all right stay tuned for more we’ll see you again soon

  1. Good demo of the differences between models. Not sure why you both came into the test thinking the BP-S were in the same category as the i-series. They were never intended to replace the i230, and actually replace the i59 and take many design cues from the S55. Marty J says this in interviews. The i230 is a progressive non-combo combo set with lineage from i5, i15, i20, i25, etc. Several tour pros are combo'ing the BP-S and the i230. I'll have to demo the BP-S soon, they look great and seem to have great consistency to them.

  2. Had my eye on the S. Switched into 230 from 210’s and quickly went back. Would be unsure with a 230 combo in the long irons due to the groove difference

  3. The S is looking like its going to be one of pings most universally popular irons in a while. Sucks that they're going to retail at 2500!

  4. I could see myself moving out of my i59 for the S. I’ve toyed around with the i230, but the bulk doesn’t suit my eye. Thanks for the review.

  5. I love watching Ian hit a set of blades, but the real highlight of this video for me was stripeshow Mikey putting on a ball striking clinic. The work he's putting in shows!

  6. A blade traditionally 34*? I can’t think of any blade being that strong unless it’s been produced the last 5 years in this era of jacked up lofts. Traditional 7 blade is 36-38*. My Miura’s are 36* w/48* PW, when I first learned the game 45 years ago in college, my Wilson Staffs and later my Orlimar’s were 38* w/50* PW

  7. This was a very compelling and interesting demo switching between clubs for both of you. Any idea why Mikey struggles w/4i? He would seem to have enough head speed, I did not see an aoa shown, I’m guessing he just needs to work on swing to better compress ball rather than sweep it. Good winter project for you laddie😉

Would love to see more of these demoes in other lines such as Mizuno 241, 243, 245 where you’re both swinging at full lineup.

  8. You can clearly see the blades hit target just like the cavity. Its a myth that the difference is that big. Its not a lot in it. Its 95% mental.

  9. Lovely irons and great test again guys but they still look like you need to be a fair player to tee them up 😜🤙

  10. Tried the i230 irons shortly after they came out and was not impressed by the sound and feel, especially when I thought that the original blueprints were perhaps in the top 3 all time irons for look and feel.
Hopefully these S irons will feel much better than the i230

  11. Ian is correct, these with a Miura stamp would be perfect but the Miura stamp would mean the feel is the best there is and unfortunately that’s not the case with the ping.

  12. RIP to the walets of all the Ping fans here who are likely going to end up with a set of S'es and I's to go with their i230's…. like me. 😅

  13. I agree completely witht the 20% smaller version of the i230, I looked at them along side my iblades but they were just that much too big

  14. You guys are so good, thank you for the informative, detailed and honest reviews you do across all brands. Always fun to watch and always learn plenty.

  15. I'm currently playing a set of Maruman Conductor Pro Forged cavity backs I built up, and they have a deep and full-width undercut on the 5 and 6 iron, and it makes such a difference.

  16. Be interested to see there’s compared with the OG blueprints! Nothing else has kicked them out of my bag so far

  17. I own the i230's Forgiving as all get-out but no speed from them at all (and pretty sure the shafts are not right for me)
