When I was am to play FR England my short game was ridiculous beautiful and then I got a bit panicky with my chipping cuz I could obviously feel like it wasn’t quite right but a lot of good things are you do you do actually releas the C quite nicely so I love That from that light out I would go 58 perfect so let’s finish with a little challenge whoever gets it closest gets the point there we go fantastic tell me about your short game you know obviously you you’ve played on tour back in 2020 yeah clearly good
Player um tell me about your short game historically what’s it been like you know where have you which shots have you struggled with so I would say I my best when I was best at short game was when I was an amateur MH and then when I started changing my
Swing getting the club face a bit more Square then my short game suffered a little bit interesting okay um but yeah when I was amate to play FR England my short game was ridiculous I could do and I practiced with a lot of guys on tour and used to play games and everything
Like that and then most recently well three years ago it got when the lies got a little bit tighter it got a little bit more like and I think I’d always read so much about everything MH and never really knew I knew a lot about Lots but
Not necessarily what worked for me okay so so so back when it when the short game was a strength of yours could you hit that softer higher shot easier yeah and then maybe as you change the swing to strengthen the face it come up a little bit you lost a bit finesse yes
Okay all right well let’s see what it’s like now hland yeah yeah no is it and know he’s the other way around well well he softened up a bit didn’t yeah but he he’s had to soften it a bit it was going off a bit hot before wasn’t it right so
We’re going to go to that back pin there what what club have you got in the got 54 54 and you carry 50 54 and 58 yes yeah and this is just your your standard sort of Chip and run shot yes from a good to a fringe
Light see it is like Hing a little bit hot there yeah what’s um what what would be is it is it really getting that control on it is that what you find I mean obviously greens are soft here today but when they’re a bit fir does it
Tend to chase out a little bit too much for you yeah a little bit and also I can see that the trajectory that was really different yeah yeah sure okay um and I think that’s just lack of a when I’m over it I’m not thinking of anything
Which sometimes is good but you know when I was really it come out the same every time okay yeah referee all right up but yeah I’m just um okay good few more and I can even tell the strikes in a different place yeah I quite like it
Actually do you no I do I think there’s some good stuff in there there’s a couple of bits we need to get into for sure and I can see where some of the shots which we’ll do later you’ll struggle with but a lot of good things
Are you do you do actually release the club quite nicely okay you’re not dragging it too hard or anything just have one more okay happy are you just are you doing a sandwich where you start nice and then you me a load so that was a low point there was
Quite long way back wasn’t it yeah okay all right so um right some good stuff there right side so what I’ll get into what’s happening and we’ll get into into the setup from there right so as you’re striking it you are to underneath this way so it’s here
Your right shoulder drops quite low low Point does struggle to you quite a bit behind the ball there and yeah it comes off hot but a few of them actually ride with the face quite a lot do you feel that yeah okay that’s what gives you that different trajectory you’re
Absolutely right the best short game players are able to hit this launch window every time absolutely every time and that then gives you the instinct to be able to feel the shot and anticipate how much is going to run out whereas at the moment you’re not quite able to do
That because you don’t really know what flight is coming out and what the ball’s going to be like okay and that’s why we can see you know for a very simple shot you’re probably getting well two are guaranteed up and down and you got a bit
Of works you on the other four there okay right and you know you might hold what two two out of those four so we got to get that tighter which is about controlling the all about controlling strory for you that’s what it’s all about um so you get a little
Bit excessive in the forearm rotation going back okay that makes you have to release it as to say you do actually release it but you’re kind of forced to because you do get this way so this forearm here over rotates and then you have to release it this way and that’s
What caused you to get a little bit underneath so you’re a bit like this like exaggerate you’re a little bit like this so I’m like some Top Spin lobs yeah so it’s kind of this way yeah so we’ve got to get you covering it more of your
Chest for sure uh through impact but I think if we just tided up your back swing we get you more here that’s going to lead to that movement that makes sense okay what what’s your fault in your long game what do do you sort of do
You have a a move you’re trying to work yeah so I used to kind of hit like a pull fade and then I’m I’ve work really hard to try and get a draw so it makes sense me trying to yeah come in that way so and and and do you understand the
Difference between long game and short game and they’re just totally opposite game that’s what I try and get across to everyone yeah and I think the reason your short games begin to suffer a little bit is you have got some definitely some sort of long game moves
In there you know where you’re working a bit sort of laterally with the hips and back with the right shoulder there so yeah it’s going to be all about for you getting the club on a better plane left arm’s going to stay more attached and then from there you can work much more
On Top This Way way and it’s just going to be much stronger strike and just get that launch window you know cleaner okay and how about setup is setup setup’s okay yeah yeah I quite like your setup um you’re a little bit low with your right shoulder yes yeah you’re which
Again promotes contributes to that so we’re going to level level you off a little bit Yeah and we’re just going to get the left hip a little bit more open as well anything we can do just to promote this hand path working more left after the ball and this right shoulder
More on top okay and uh yeah we’ll start here it to opposite exactly where and set up with my long game I’m like this yeah exactly for good players it’s it’s always the battle separated okay so you you just set up to the ball I like your
Stance I like your left foot flared out that’s excellent your ball position is good your shaft angle’s good but you can see there’s quite a lot of tilt here so what we need that’s how does that feel yeah does that feel exaggerated yeah let me take a photo there you stay there
That’s where you would be at that’s that’s the move okay so if I just show you this how does this look does it look that’s what I’ve changed to yeah it looks but on it looks but on the sun’s been like driver yeah yeah you were a little bit like the
Driver yeah so so we’ve leveled the shoulders we could probably go a little bit more the chest bone now is now about an inch in front of the ball whereas before your chest bone was about an inch behind the ball got you and that’s why
You and how do I feel that is it a case of well I I quite like the feeling for you that your left side of your pelvis is going to sort of tuck in so do it that way does that Mak sense so if you just put your fingers on your left side
Of your pelvis there and just push it in and then your body can stack over like that yeah oh okay oh yeah you feel that yeah I think what happens was like this exactly I think a lot of players they try and do the right thing they try and
Put the weight forward with the lower body and it creates this tip for the upper body yeah so actually what you want to be doing is tucking it in so you can then snack over more with the upper body genius a bit more there now so just
Take it back what we’re trying to do now this should help actually the change made back in so the moment you get so take it away do you feel that I’m I’m exaggerating okay but that’s I see too much dis logo on your glove I see too
Much rotation in the forearm and then because you’re a good player you know you’ve got to return that club so what you do is you release but you tip back at the same time when it gets a bit this way okay so what we want to be feeling
Is more attachment here like the triceps not going to sort of move off the chest too much so keep that connected okay so it’s more there okay and then from there you’re going to work more on top and around okay and that’s a shot this is
For this lower shot this lower CHP and run shot and this is what I call release one if you seen any of my stuff so imagine a laser beam coming out the end of the grip there it’s on the outside of a left hip there and that’s release one
Okay come okay so do a few just a few practice s first without tuck stacking I can’t really overdo that can I no you can’t overdo that and I’ll stand here for the first few just to make sure you going to work that in so
Just in front of me that’s it and then more on top of it so you want to feel more that does that feel different through the ball completely it’s better a noise straight away yeah I can hear the so right that again so it’s working
In front of me that’s good so this is the feeling that’s the killer that’s the good one okay and then from there you can work around the corner okay so not really much release really no you’re almost over releasing you having to flip it from that from that back swing you’re
In that’s now starting to launch better what you’ll find the more you start launching this correctly now you’ll then start picking a better landing spot okay but that comes you know the feel comes from technique so in there that’s it you got it okay I’m just going to test your grip
Pressure as well so don’t cheat it go to your normal crit pressure yeah okay we’re good okay so you’re about six out of 10 10 a tight as it gets you want to be a three for this shop okay so that’s let me take it to a three that’s a
Two two and a half that’s the three you feel that that feel a bit lighter yeah you can actually feel the weight of the there you go good must have been strangling the life out it so keep the club in front of you and then you’re going to work that right shoulder onto
That was okay it was a little bit behind that one going back I can feel I could feel myself actually change my see good players react so well to to to faults in the back swing so take your right hand off the club now and just take away left
Hand only that that’s where you want to be can you feel that yeah so what you’re doing now do that again so what you’re doing there is because you’re only holding your left hand you it’s force you to take it away on plane like the shart is an extension of your arm right
And it probably feels relatively light yeah yeah but do it again but if I if I do this for a second where you would tend to be is that how long can you hold that for difficult yeah that’s much easier down so that would be a really
Good sort of field drill for you to actually just get this understanding of where that club needs to be at that point in time yeah that feels so I can feel the it’s completely different yeah good okay need to get the F element now don’t worry about feel honestly I’m a great
Believer in technique will will breed F if you just keep working on this that’s good flip that a little bit didn’t you just you feel like go up the face a bit Yeah hands need to exit this way so it’s more around the around the corner around the corner
Around the form that way okay good so it’s going to feel like a fade feel really yeah exactly yeah you were too you were definitely in the draw Camp weren’t you okay you got to feel more fade exactly I’m just putting this club here just to help you the hand come a
Little bit more around the right shoulder a bit more on top oh yeah that’s different that’s lovely that’s good okay lovely release Point that’s different that one so I’m in there for lower you that far left at the dress so have you noticed the last six or
Seven have gone through the same window yes every time yeah that’s the last like we said at the beginning that absolutely key for you so now now you’re starting to launch at the correct height the spin’s consistent ball speed’s more consistent start focusing a bit more on
Where you want to land it okay part of golf isn’t it I think with golfers just a great lesson is that um if if you’ve got different trajectories every time you might think well there’s no point me trying to visualize a shot or whatever but once you start getting consistency
Start doing this now so focus on this that little Zone there that’s where you want to land it use your eyes to give you a better feel for this now so I love that there you go that’s just your mind and body working together now see the shot your technique’s
Working well the flight’s better it’s a little bit skinny but still all right this is the bit that I miss this bit you know when you’ve actually got right technique so you can see where a landing area yeah when you were playing and when you were sort of having you
Know your good golf with England or whatever yeah did you feel you were more into the external focus of where you want to land it and you could see flights and then when you struggling you just you just you trying to get the content thinking about technique yeah
Yeah just trying to manufacture a shot whereas when I was really good I could go silly low but it was cuz I was literally just performance I was seeing it h it right she’s back let’s try right your setup’s great there okay just focus on the left arm and focus on the right
Shoulder on top more so that’s pure I love that love it there we go that’s completely different yeah that’s great so it’s coming up lower now but nice little bit of check on the second third bounce you’re noticing it’s just rolling out love the setup grip pressure left
Arm a little bit there you feel it yeah so what you could do here as well is it just that straight away yeah it’s see so you might want to get your sleeve and just tuck it in a bit and just feel when you’re going back that that stain
Attached a bit more does this do anything funky or is uh well well when you go back when when you roll it it’s almost like you you’ll feel this this hand sort of Fanning open if anything you want to feel like maybe the right hand’s a little bit more on top of it
That’s nice feels so much better it’s good right so that’s release one that’s release one chip and run chip and run it’s so I was here yeah in and not me to flip it that way yeah who am I what was that about just relax a bit yeah that’s
It so left arm keep left top of the arm in that’s perfect take it away so good so this would be the old move okay okay and this will be the new move okay so it will stay attached to the chest and I turn just turn little bit in if I’m been really
Picky back MH this is where the perfectionist comes out it’s like it’s goes doesn’t it Miss me that’s it yeah yeah that’s so different yeah so you could practice you could put something here if you got someone to stand here for you you could put put
Some chin pads on them do uh put a bag down there or whatever you can find and just keep that left arm in do you feel like the club head stays outside the hands the hand path is working slightly in but the club head’s got to stay out
Whereas you get you were before a bit hands out clubbing going be more hands in I battled that with my long game as well this way y and I guess you’ve got to get that bit right first otherwise you can’t exit properly can you totally yeah de gwing
Is a chain reaction right so uh you know we got to set up a back swing to down swing and uh the fault here manifest in this and then you’ve got to fix it coming down for a good player whereas we now we’ve got a world class setup we’re
Working on the back swing to make sure we don’t create a fault there and then from there that leads itself to a rotation on top of the ball mod yeah fantastic hear it don’t you that’s good do a lot of work indoors on on obviously when you’re coaching at at
Pitch on in the uh simulators yes um you could short game you know it’s useful to to look at some numbers I’m not a huge fan of it all I think short game is more artistic than science but the numbers will be useful for you and I think if
You look now your low point will be now two three 4 inches in front of the ball whereas before it have probably been zero my path would have been six would have been to the right yeah and now you’re probably you know really you’re looking for about a zero path there but
Um before it would have been to the right for sure good just feel use your eyes Okay one more really use your eyes this time put yourself at the Target there yeah right I’m going to stand here you’re going to land it right by my feet this is why golf is so stressful
Because it’s not just tekkers you need to execute good right right here there good nice I missed it didn’t I go on one more it’s a competitive nature coming out that’s beautiful I’m just standing here I can just see that first bounce is just checking a little bit and then it’s
Just rolling out like aart feels so much better off the face that’s P well done now we’re going to keep that released and we’re going to play out to one of these back pins but we’re going to go to a little bit less Loft now so okay let’s
Say we’re going to that back very back pin yes what would you normally do in this situation um similar release to that one well well just what would you normally do um cart blanch you decide I’d probably like move a 54 little bit back
In my stance and try and drive it in a little bit where you Landing it uh is that slope there isn’t there quite interesting slope of the bunker yes see up slope down slope in a heartbeat I’d probably or I’d hit a 50 in and fly the
Whole way yeah or land it in this little Gully with maybe like a nine or well let’s let’s go down that route yeah so then we’ll follow it on what we that take too okay there you go that’s much better see the club heads under your hands now yeah
And there we go Pinchy at that quite get ins side M but closer come on Rachel you got to do it uh it runs up the face different as well yeah okay shoulders shoulders that’s it on pinch that follow through no sh felt myself like yeah but
But again you worked it in here so you had to do it yeah so you can’t criticize yourself too much for doing getting this wrong if this was wrong BS because if you think about it if you go in like this and you do the correct release and
The pinch you’re going to hit the ball in the bunker aren’t you but you’re too good because you’re instinct is saying well I don’t want to hit the B cuz you’ve got to flip it back so you’ve got to this is key for you there oh it’s
Frustrating isn’t it so I went oh okay here yeah right there we go you feel the differ that’s pure I love it there we go so that first bit is key yeah it’s it’s so interesting CU I would I always I got a bit panicky with my chipping because I could
Obviously feel like it wasn’t quite right but you don’t if you don’t know why what’s causing it here you got to have a plan you got to have a plan did you feel anxious over the ball and oh God I did eventually chipping yeah but I
Think it was lack of knowing what I was trying to do yeah it’s completely different I’m a big Believer by the way in the me in the mental side I think if you’ve got good technique you you’re going to be mentally good I really do believe that
There’s no point just going in with posit thoughts whatever if your Technique going to let you you know what I mean so I think if you’ve got good technique that and you just work on it your mind will always repair itself yeah I completely agree with that just get that shoulder there that’s
It that club slightly higher than yeah that’s it yeah Pinchy mhm I want you this next shot you’re going to hold your finish and I want that club head to be kind of knee height okay and the follow through actually aim where I want want to start it a good
Idea that balls me off better now isn’t it yeah let say two yards further right now okay I thought I was I’m still missing it first bounce is kicking it isn’t it you’ve almost going to be going yeah almost off the green here at the Trap yeah so
There no rolled it in oh sh I don’t feel like I’m doing it but that’s I can feel straight away from the strike yeah yeah what did I do that way again yeah balls this way yeah that’s it you safe right okay yeah it’s completely different just
Me buddy fine sorry but that’s look going in going it felt that felt completely different good I want so it’s the roll isn’t it it’s the forearm rotation yeah so you you could think of it a few ways you could think about and it’s it’s your call you know you’ve got
To get the best feel for you but you could think about the club ad staying outside the hands you could think about the arm having no rotation you could feel like that little pinch point in your sort of you know your tricep area just keeping that attached cuz that feels way outside but
It’s really not is it you’ve moved now stop is that better that felt better yeah good yeah I’m like please Le say it was if you look at those balls as well I mean that’s not a bad grouping no I’m pretty I think if we’ have done that
With a 58 I think we’d see a different grouping be someone one there be some definitely some in this first slot wouldn’t there yeah okay so get stacked just took that left arm in a little bit don’t get shut with the yeah that’s perfect W that’s that’s the best one
You’ve done I think that tucking it almost getting it external that way yeah no internal internal yeah so so when you’re um no so you don’t want to be out here so if you were teaching in in in you know got reflection of yourself behind you when you’re setting up and
You look at that you don’t want to be seeing this arm in the mirror there or whatever yeah whereas before you can sometimes just see it it’s out that way so this way the more we get a little bit more open in your mind is going to help
You round the corner this way and it’s also going to help the club stay in front of you the more you get shut at a dress it’s getting you back into your bath pattern okay there more there good that’s fine no sh okay that was a shame because
You set it was good but you still you’re you’re you still wanted to roll it in a little bit that was a bloody shame Dan that not a bad shot though for a bad one right for a dunch there got right Club here we go this is perfect here we
Go that’s perfect okay feel it feel the muscles what it’s doing what there we go okay that was better yeah that’s good just a bit four left no it’s okay just got to look at use your eyes again they’re off yeah look let’s let’s go for almost on the edge of the green
Okay so it’s there mhm no too long in follow through it felt good on the back and then it just was shy on the way give me a little stun give me a little pinch here just there just there that’s the one you know it just feels
Like a hug stay there it just feels like a huge exaggeration look at that ball that is just running out running out running out we have the club head under the hands okay not up here yeah okay getting the fills back and the divots nice isn’t it it’s kind of like
Yeah it’s lovely up right okay come on two in a row set up good that’s coming off as I would like to see now settle settle that’s good you played it well that feels so much better off the face right we’ll try a slightly more advanced shot now where we’re going to
Go we’re going to go to 50 yeah because you’re right I mean I I think that’s the shot all day long particularly in the winter conditions we have at the moment with soft green yeah but I want you to see if you can now do a version of what
Of that we’re going to play the 50 we’re going to play the ball slightly further back we’re going to do the same thing but just as you strike it we’re going to see if we can just make that toe turn over a little bit okay so it’s a it’s a
Draw version of the of the Chip And room release one so it’s a release one still but we’re just encouraging the toe over so we get some check but then hopefully it’s still going to feed up the slope and give us a bit more control over the
A1 same back slide yeah obviously a little bit longer okay so nothing changes we go here and as you come down we’re just going to wrap the toe a bit okay and this is just the benefit of this is hopefully we’re going to get the eight iron flight but a bit more check
Okay okay check hasn’t quite run out okay we carried out a little bit too far and the flight was too high so I need to you need to cover that more and you need to shorten that follow right it’s better fly see that’s holding the down slope a
Little bit more that’s another option that’s a bit more advanced option um that’s calmly R uh yeah it’s you know it’s probably more for the for the summertime but I just want to introduce how you can just very easily just change that face a little bit quite whereas
Normally see if you’ve been finishing for the for the ones we did at the beginning and then the I on you were finish there what you’re doing now is it’s there so you’re just working it over a little bit and you work that at the ball
Okay think I’ve whacked in a little bit on the inside didn’t I yeah two more I do quite like this one though you played this in the past I think so few ones yeah think so some sometime that’s beautiful that’s really really good excellent you played out really
Well but you got the flight window there didn’t you yeah and this sort of Club outside the hands will be consistent with all my sort of short game shots w’t it yep oh Sher quick oh it’s all right it’s a good shot it’s a good shot we just got to
Wipe the face sometimes you going to get B wet they the face of it listen that was good well done no buzzing thank you so we’ll pick we’ll put those up and then we’ll do some softer shots okay perfect but that’s good right okay so
Let’s let’s have a look at this shot so we’re going to go for that back pin but I want you to imagine you got to fly a little bit further than that so fly at least halfway on the green so we’re looking for that softer Landing shot the
Shot that you maybe say you struggled a little bit um I’m going to give you a fairly friendly light to begin with but it’s very wet and it’s a bit an up slope sometimes is a challenge as well but we’ll have a look we’re going to go to
That back pin okay so show me what l you got there 58 you gotone 58 okay fine let’s let’s have a let to check then let’s have a look that dug in there didn’t it yeah is that is that is that what you would get
Is that I think so yeah I don’t I don’t play enough now down to know win I think yeah that’s probably quite consistent interesting okay okay one more oh taking the pin out but have a struggle this one do isn’t it so I don’t mind a little bit more
Tilting this one the shoulders do you watch the back swing to through swing length what do you see so your hands have gone what to the waist height M and then much longer there okay so youve got a lot of Drive you’re quite wide as well
With The Arc and you’re quite short in the back swing so we need to definitely work on that ratio for you which is showing up more for this shot so you’re getting um short to long and that’s why you’re struggling with the release of this shot okay so we need to get much
Longer back I think a little bit of the problem is is the fact you’re using a 58 as well and in a way the 58 is kind of the amount of Loft you’ve got there is forcing you to get shorter and drive it I like to almost try and we’ll do some
With a 54 first like a stronger Loft and then we’re going to take take it longer and make you sort of force you to play a little bit softer through it because it’s a stronger Loft we might end back up with a 58 but certainly to train it I
Think a stronger loft is going to help you play it softer does that make sense rather than a luxury of Loft okay let but so let’s get let’s get the 54 and then we’ll we’ll do that so we got the 54 now then so let’s um let’s just see
With this check one other thing in your back swing as well there we go fine there we go that’s I just want to see you hit one from there now you do you also shut the face quite a lot going back which is what you said was a swing change wasn’t it now
When you’re playing the third shot we did the Chip And Run I quite like the Leading Edge to be in line with the spine yeah okay cuz it’s quite wide here we know we’re quite shallow into it once you start adding the element of wrist
Hinge in and you shut the face which is what you’re doing yeah that’s making this club quite unfriendly in terms of the bounce he’s been taken off obviously the more you do that you take the bounce and Loft off um matching that into a wet up slope isn’t a good match up yeah
Hence why you’re getting this so we’re going to have to work on a few things definitely getting you longer in the back swing we do want to feel now a little bit more folding of the elbow to get the club into a toe up position and
You can still get that don’t feel like you’ve got to roll it to do that you know you can still you’re going to need more right side rotation but you can feel like you fold and get the club into a toe up POS position there longer and
Then from there you it’s just going to feel so much better for you because you’ll actually feel like the club can then work and slide through the turf rather than getting that way which creates that dig okay so you set up to it little bit wider in your stance as
Well you’re a bit narrow there bit wider no you like it good that’s it you got to move a little bit more nice so take it back more there you feel that and less that way okay so it’s there okay so there a little bit more more folding little bit
More toe up and longer really to allow the whole right side of your body to go longer back and then from there you’re going to feel like you’re passing the club through and I want you to really work on being narrow in here so at the moment you’re right out here because
You’re short Your Instinct saying well I’ve got to get it there so you go long I want you to be longer and then shorter in here like the hands are going to be much closer in here and the AR then it’s going to release better okay got a
Little bit of cuffing in the wrist yeah so do some practicing no ball more turn than that you don’t just do it with your arms you got to do it with your with your with your chest so you move it that’s better good and then pass it pass it through
Nice so you’re going longer to Shorter in your mind longer the shorter you feel these elbows staying in yeah it’s that opening that’s the I think my my worry here for you right the worry is you’re going to open it with your with your wrists yeah you open it if you
Turn that’s what does it you see that make sense good so if I actually just turn this correctly I’ll keep an eye on it but that should be the way the way you you go about this yeah that’s beautiful there that was absolutely in that toe position let’s do

That’s what I feel movement but sometimes you’ll get it just right and you’ll hit one like that which is amazing right but obviously we’re not far away from a bad one you know which is all about consistency OB in golf generally particularly at your level so
We’re going to get you a little bit more sort of stable over the ball I I’ll Stand into one here and you can stand into my footprints and get a feel for what I’m talking about here no fall over so let’s go I’m going to do it you should

Okay let’s going to kick the pelvis forward another inch that way and then upper body back a tiny bit more now now you got a bit of Separation let me just take a photo there does that feel any different it looks great it might feel quite exaggerated
But how does that look spot on yeah so you were basically to kind of like 50/50 so occasionally you get too much this now we’re sort of wider further down more pressure down pelvis more forward okay you’re going to be able to sort of get your lower body really down heavy
Into the ground okay and then do what you’re good at just keep turning through the through the shot okay okay hit a few to get used to that light up left foot out I want 45 degree foot flare H you can really get a left knee over your over your
Foot it’s better okay so it’s a bit like we worked on on earlier you know you could benefit certainly from a longer back swing so see if you can get that right side of a tors so turning a little bit more and let’s not aim too far to the

Your lower body just to promote the ability of you to move this way okay we can see how the the knees are forward pelvis is forward and you hear that noise it’s all about that noise and that’s been a control there we go but so your some of your divots are a little
Bit a little bit steep you see that you see that how shallow mine was so that’s what we’re looking to get you doing which is all about working this way more and not on two in front okay got you so we going good that’s it let me check your
Light aim you just go a little bit more I know it’s going to feel see that’s actually parallel does that feel shut to you yeah now that should feel now that this right side is going to be able to work behind better how that feel going back yeah it was
Good just lenting it a bit setup feels a lot better it’s good there love that let just check your A yes you probably just have to keep dropping that right to the back a bit yeah yeah that’s really good yeah nice it’s a lot more time
Again is it yeah as I said I wouldn’t mind you standing a little bit shut you know I think for you you know I think that would be be a good thing similar to release too as in I’m turning the Loft back uhhuh you can drop that fo yeah try one
From there just drop that foot really drop it back yeah good that’s so much better you I I would play with a shut stance for you okay parallel with your upper body but just drop the foot back and it just gets you in here a lot better I really like that
One that had a bit of a yeah well we got the divot right there didn’t we it was it was much more of a skipping divot it wasn’t a driven one oh brow in that one there we go we got it back got it coming
Back and is that speed I felt like that it’s pess of strike and yeah it’s a little bit more speed in the club for sure like the first one I yeah that plenty of ball didn’t it so that bounced a bit there we’ll talk about lies in in a minute do do do
You feel that um you’re able to read lies in the sand does that make sense you know probably would like to know more yeah okay so if we get that lie yeah do you think you would just hit that and not think too much or would you would that cause
You any concern I would probably reduce the openness of the face yeah swing it a little slower okay yeah okay I I I know some good stuff there I want Bally swing that much slower a little bit slower yeah but I think you’ve got to be a bit
More aggressive in this basically if you’ve been using like release two stroke three for this shot so basically the because we had lots of sand it was nice and soft and it was Fluffy we were encouraging you know the turn in here the release this way look so the Buster
Grip somewhere in this region okay two St one two three okay that’s going to utilize the bounce okay and then you turn it through as you did on that last one you felt it kick a bit right that’s because you were still using the bounce you’re
Still using this section of the sole but the stand isn’t soft enough so it’s kicked so I would slightly Square the face but I would add in some sharling at the dress and play the ball further back and get my upper body more stacked over as well so it’s more that’s that’s your
Normal uh setup isn’t it way you tilt this way but now you’re going to go more here go more that way to let the setup create the steepening ingredient does that make sense yeah so from there don’t open the face a little bit more let’s
Not CU need to get some spin here right so we’re going to go that way now really the setup is going to do 99% of this for you okay so play it pretty much as normal it’s a slightly shorter follow through that should happen from your steepness you’ve created so we’re now
Creating more of this sort of angle coming in okay so it could have got a little bit flatter but it’ll still spin like that now you got to get the feel of the speed yeah yeah that was good okay big big lesson this you know to be able
To understand how you manage to lie the ball further back good oh down now that’s the legs gone a bit you lost your legs there lost yeah you lost your legs right you got to be leggies pressure down yeah yeah really good no losing the leggies there even on
This one same thing yeah no thing is a badle I remember there we go right it’s open I would I wouldn’t Square it actually I’d still play that I mean that has got thin rle all over it hasn’t it but I would be using the heel
The heel is a very sharp part of the of the so right if you open it and put the hands lower CU see that heel starts to sit down nicely under the ball so and I would now actually start to go a little bit more across because we need to put
Some steepens in now so I would actually start to open up a bit with your body now any stance okay but you’re going to work more this way and dig the heel down and left you got a swing left there that’s good that’s good yeah okay does that make sense yeah demo one
It is all about knowing how to play the shot and adapting I just think most golfers have they don’t respect the LIE enough and and you see the tour Pros they go they’re really studying the LIE they study the lie and once the LIE is assessed that then tells them what shot

The first teaching video I can remember watching (over and over) was Faldo and Leadbetter at Valderrama when I was 13 years old. I have watched a gazillion teaching videos in the 35 years since. This is one of my favorites ever. Fine work.
I absolutely loved this session Dan. It is very similar to the one you did with Rick Shiels. Seeing you take someone through the different releases and discussing various lies is really educational. I would love to see you expanding/going into more depth on the bunker play (especially different lies) in a future session. I am definitely going to buy your book. This was not just a brilliant short game lesson but a lovely interaction. Rachel is the female golfer I want to see: Genuine, pleasant, down-to-earth, modest, hard-working, inspiring and setting a perfect example to all young girls out there to present oneself respectfully and with good manners, to take up golf for the love of the sport and not abusing it for shameless likes, clout and pretentious modelling ops.
These lessons are a game-changer (pun intended) and i love how quickly the tuition is picked up and implemented. It's a sign of a master teacher and can't wait to start playing again.
