Feels like you’re ready to do the the end of the year team banquet where you could look at the the season in total and think okay here is the good part the bad part but it was a successful Year everyone gets a participation trophy we

Hand out our team MV we eat some cake and we go home and yet The Season’s not over and I was just trying to gain some perspective because I think about how angry I’ve been this year in the sense that yeah I thought the Rams could go

Nine and eight at worst eight- nine and then with a miracle be 10 and seven and they could win their next two games and then maybe get that miracle and finish 10 and seven so I am happy but I think think about all the stuff they left on

The table the game in ciny the game against Pittsburgh the game against Philly uh the Green Bay game I mean there was so many games that were winnable uh that would change everything but on the whole the Rams are here and they are playing an important game on

December 21st of this season when no one thought they would no one thought they would outside of this place and and Jake elog and no one thought they would and so it is it is exciting uh and so we watched that game on Sunday I was upset

About things then too but uh the good news about that game was the Rams won it they didn’t give it away and then I made a comment on a couple of message boards I think pretty much spread it around is that it was the perfect game in one

Sense for McVey is you got the win but you got plenty to yell about and someone said why you know why would you yell you won then I had another person say we never hear McVey yell coaches love these kind of wins well they just like winning

But in my 21 years whether I was interviewing uh college coaches High School coaches a few Pro coaches uh one of the things is like it’s great to get a win but it’s great to have some things also that you could yell at your team about so they don’t become too puffed

With pride and uh McVey yeah he’s going to go in there and hand out the game balls as he does his Center Stage speech after every game and they’re fun to watch but when Monday comes and then when film comes on Tuesday and I think

Film yeah film is on Tuesday uh and uh they they do that all of a sudden it’s like whoa Darion where were you uh Darion was up in press maybe should Jordan have been deep in center field on that one why would we do that with a two

Touchdown lead uh you know there’s stuff like that all over the place that you could look at we didn’t get to the quarterback he could be chewing them out about getting the quarterback he could be chewing them out about taking care of the ball there’s a a lot of stuff there

For him to let this team um stay on the edge and that’s what you want right it’s a tough fed day stretch here the Redskins or the T skins on Sunday and now you got the Saints and it’s no giveaway it’s no walk through with the Saints because they’re playing for a

Division title they’re playing for a Super Bowl appearance they’re seven and seven and we’re going to break that down in a minute but yeah McVey comes away from that game not with a game that he won 4914 uh but a game that he won uh very carefully what was that uh 2820 right

And so uh it gives him something to keep this team on edge and it’s exciting you want this team edgy you want it as they say Frosty going into Thursday night you want them feeling like no man this is ours and it’s for the taking and you

Want them a little bit angry uh and know that nothing is a given not even against the tax skins or against the New Orleans Saints so that’s where I come from when I say that’s just my experience uh coming out of me that yeah coaches love

They love the win but they love finding the things to just keep their team on edge and those are the right things those are the small details that keep you winning going into um going into uh the postseason guys thank you so much Bill Tim Burns thanks for clicking on I

He has in the last three years uh but who’s ranked ahead of Matthew Stafford who’s Matthew Stafford ranked behind guys like Tommy DeVito Derek Carr Nick Mullins Russell Wilson Easton sticks and the Browning rifle Jake Browning who is stupid enough to post something like that worse who is naive enough to

Believe it and this goes to tell you that no matter what the platform the whole goal is to get clicks and maybe get someone like me or get someone like you going this is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard and it’s a real dumbing down it’s a real

Don’t think they want to play the Rams I I wouldn’t if I was a 49er fan I’d be a little nervous because I’m not saying the Rams are a Super Bowl team on par with what the 49ers roster is that’s a Super Bowl team the 49ers have will they

Get there that’s another story but what I am saying is the Rams know the 49ers they’re very familiar with the 49ers more so than the rest of the NFL and uh of course they hung with the 49ers with a young team in week two that a couple

Of turnovers um allowed that game to to get away from the Rams when they were right in it into the fourth quarter this is a better Ram team now this is a more experienced defense now and uh yeah if I was the 49ers I would be a little concerned about playing the

Rams because I think the Rams can sting him um more so than the rest of the NFL right now because I look at Philly and I’m not impressed I look at Dallas and you look who they’ve beaten not impress they didn’t even compete in Buffalo and

Uh right now the only ones standing in the way of Frisco besides themselves are the Rams and so uh yeah if I’m Frisco I’m wondering a little bit I’m thinking they don’t want to play the Rams because the Rams um I think have the ability to

Uh to hurt them to sting them and uh and I know that’s a long shot for a lot of us but uh but yeah I do I I think the Rams have a shot if the Rams had to play Philly or Detroit if the Rams got into

The sixth spot I think it would set them up with Detroit it could set them up with Detroit uh I I like the Rams against Philly now I like the Rams against Detroit it would be interesting and so so sweet to go back to Dallas and

Get a win right uh it’s going to be interesting how Dallas handles Miami this week after the Buffalo loss uh maybe mess with their heads a little bit that team can be run on and one of the things the Rams are doing really well right now

Is is they’re running the ball now again I I I said it I didn’t want to say it so that’s why I asked permission can I say something because we need to take care of business and I say we veering into that land yes we as RAM fans we the Rams

Have to take care of the Saints and the Giants first Saints and Giants right I think right now the Rams have earned burgers for their team banquet they beat the Saints and Giants at St and lobster it truly is uh because no one expected them to be there okay NFC Playoff

Picture we talked about this uh breaks down this way Cowboys are back in first place so it’s 49ers Cowboys Lions Buccaneers uh in the NFC South right now it’s seven and seven Baker Mayfield is playing like he’s back in Norman uh and uh and then of course the Eagles right

Now are 10 and four with the wild card spot in the five in the six and seven spots are the Rams and the Vikings or the Vikings and the Rams uh Vikings have the Lions and the Packers they have the Lions twice twice in the Packers uh Rams

Get the Saints Giants 49ers you know this Seahawks man Drew lock right you were kind of hoping the Eagles could do the Rams a solid and put the Seahawks out of their misery and right Philly doesn’t look good right Philly does not look good and the Seahawks took advantage of it and Drew

Drew lock made some big throws and all it took was a couple of big throws from Drew lock and a couple of nice catches from uh DK metf and Jackson Smith njigba to uh give the Seahawks the victory over um over the uh the Eagles Seahawks are

Seven and seven it’s a Pete Carrol team they’re well coached Rams might have their number but they’re not going away uh Saints are seven and seven after the Rams they get the Bucks and the Falcons um Falcons six and eight they got the Colts bears and Saints Packers get the

Panthers Vikings and bears so the Packers have an opportunity if somebody stumbles to crawl back in this thing keep an eye on Colts Falcons this week Packers panthers lions Vikings we’re we’re rooting for Detroit and Seahawks Titans let’s hope will Levis has another miracle in that right arm uh if the Rams

Should lose uh on Thursday and the Packers and Seahawks win the Rams would drop into the 10th spot and essentially be toast that’s how precarious this this race is in the NFC and we knew it would be and that was why it would allow the

Rams to stay in it uh for so long uh and they’re right there but their fate is in their own hands if the Rams win and the Vikings lose the Rams take the sixth spot and that puts them in line if everything holds out possibly to play

Detroit which would be off the charts interesting okay around the NFL and other places uh just looking at the NFL right now uh you know the big deal on Monday night was the Seahawks won I thought the bigger deal was the eagles only scored 13 points against the

Seahawks they only scored 13 points right and yeah I don’t care what everyone else says I think it’s time to be worried in Philly and not just this this week uh because he was under the weather but I will say this Jaylen Herz has taken a major step back he wasn’t

Intimidating against the Rams uh his throws have been all all over the yard this year uh I think of course I think he’s hurt he may be beat up but whatever it is Jaylen Herz is not right and I’d be suspicious of everyone anyone telling

Me that jayen Herz is right is he a gamer yeah is he a leader yeah is he a great probably a great quarterback to have I’m not arguing that but um something’s not right something’s not right with Jaylen Herz and that mean you know 13 points come on you’ve got

DeAndre Swift You’ got Dallas GD and you’ve got devona Smith and you got uh AJ Brown and you only scor 13 points against Seattle I sorry something’s wrong big one this week Browns Texans I’ve been honking for the Browns of late uh CJ Stroud is unlikely to start for

The Texans um and as someone who’s seen case you know as RAM fans we’ve seen Case Keenum close up uh aren’t you surprised Davis Mills isn’t playing and I I gotta say if Wentz doesn’t stay with the Rams I’d make a move to bring in Davis Mills I kind of like Davis Mills

Maybe Keenum got has more experience I guess he’s played some playoff games I don’t know uh Browns Texans is a huge one Cowboys Dolphins is a big one uh and it’s really interesting um Cowboys Dolphins it’s like the The Pretender Bowl right the only teams with a non- losing record

That the Cowboys have beaten is the Eagles uh and the Rams are seven and seven that’s it that’s that’s all the Cowboys have beaten uh that aren’t under 500 the Dolphins have beaten the seven seven Broncos uh and that’s it right so one of these teams is going to get exposed uh

And uh I’m going to go in Miami I’m going to go with the dolphins I’m going to go with Tyreek and uh we’ll see from there they also got Devon hin they can run the ball and the Cowboys seem susceptible to The Rush right now with

Is it Jonathan henkins that is out uh Kareem Jackson is back for the Broncos I’m happy to see that uh and uh who cares about MVP and Pro Bowl I really don’t care the only thing I care about Pro Bowl is if it helps the players get

More money in their contract that’s cool I’m happy for them but as a fan I could care less I could care less about Pro Bowl MVP all those things give MVP to Joe flacko for all I care I don’t care I just football doesn’t lend itself to

Bucks but they went for it man they built this multi-purpose gym you know Sunday school rooms Upstairs Downstairs stage all these things it was going to be a sancton asium if necessary and then when they were talking about putting in the backboards someone was suggesting let’s put in wooden backboards you just

Spent a million bucks on this gym and you’re not going to put in glass backboards what is that fortunately some people stood up and said this can’t happen and it didn’t happen um I’m thinking of my players if I’m if I’m I’m a guy like um if I’m a guy like Stan

Kony and I know I talk to Stan on the phone right I’m laying out the bones to do whatever it takes to get my guys on a comfortable surface especially as my players get older I don’t want Cooper cup Matthew Stafford or Aaron Donald being driven into some Turf so I’m full

Make big money for a long long time but they do get scholarships to go play most of them Division One Division 2 football and that makes you a professional there get your degree get your education or better yet as I was told much too later

In life I wish I had learned it earlier in life collect skills and not parchment collect skills and not parchment because we know when somebody gets a women’s studies degree or something like that or some other stupid degree you can’t do anything with it you know what but you

Remember when he hurt his shoulder he missed a game or two and since that time his snaps have been limited Quinton Lake of course has been awesome he’s been a revelation at the star position the slot position and the Rams keep running with Darien Kendrick and I don’t know if

That’s a something where they’re not pleased with Kobe Durant or that shoulder is still tender but after Kobe Durant you don’t have Tomlinson hamstring you don’t have Duke Shelly hamstring so it’s really really thick in unless you’re talking about bringing up cam McCutchen and I’m not even going to

Have a conversation it’s already getting stuck in my throat to say the name Marcus Peters uh so no boom is questionable we’re thin at corner havenstein Witherspoon and Atwell all participants for the Saints they’re G to get Chris salave to play but but defensive end fosi is out uh Dave ramek

Or Ryan Ram the right tackle important member of that offensive line is out uh and let alone the other players that they’ve been missing this season Michael Thomas out uh uh who else has gone let let me check this out real quick here I’ve got it written down

Marshon Latimore out Marcus May out they they’ve had a lot of injuries there in New Orleans and and looking at that looking at that now um week 16 Rams saints and rams uh on Thursday night Rams lead the series all time 4 234 teams are one in one in the

Playoffs uh they uh they they added Derek Carr and Derek Carr is kind of been okay but he hasn’t been great uh the offensive line has had its struggles you know Ram checks out has not been great uh he’s getting smashed Derek Carr is getting smashed from one week to the

Next Alvin chimra is still dangerous but if you really look at it you know he’s taken a lot of touches over the years he’s averaging less than four yards a carry this season 3.9 in his longest run from SC is 17 yards he’s still very dangerous catching the ball but uh he’s

Much more Mortal now than he seemed a few years ago like I said uh Chris uh uh oliv’s back uh he’s averaging 12 yards a catch he’s only got four touchdowns um so yeah he catches the ball I think he’s got 72 receptions but he’s not killing

People right uh and uh then their defense you know they they still have Tyron Matthew and Demario Davis Demario Davis is like their time this guy keeps playing and they got young Corners Latimore went out but Isaac yadam and pson Ado are playing very good their coverage skills are great they got great

Pass coverage uh the Saints have not been getting to the quarterback as much Carl Granderson’s been limited uh cam Jordan’s 34 you know people say he’s playing well but he’s not getting that production it’s one thing to get Rush the quarterback it’s another thing to get to the quarterback um they they’re

They’re Fair against the Run not spectacular and like I said they’re good in coverage uh Derek Carr’s thrown for 3,000 yards 16 touchdowns he’s completing 16 67% of his passes so he’s still dangerous but here’s something to think about with the Saints and their seven wins they’ve beaten the Panthers

Twice all right they’ve beaten the Panthers twice one of the other teams they beat was the Patriots they beat the Titans they beat the Bears and they beat the Giants their only win against a winning team is against the Colts who have exceeded all expectation true but the Rams beat the Colts right

Uh early in the year when the Rams weren’t as good as they are now uh and so the the the the Saints have have done taken care of business but they really they’re they haven’t beaten anybody right so so when they come up against a good team they generally struggle and

The Rams are a good team right now and that’s part of the reason I like the Rams on uh on Thursday um I’m going to give a score now but I think I’m going to do another show tomorrow early uh because it’s playoff time um I’m gonna

Go with the Rams I’m gonna go with the Rams uh I’m gonna take the Rams 277 and uh they punch their ticket they go to eight and seven and uh and they uh and they they stay alive in the playoff Chase so that’s where I’m at this

Thursday Ram 27 Saint 17 uh Saturday games Bengal Steelers bills Chargers uh Colts Falcons Packers Panthers Browns Texans uh that’s on Sunday I’m sorry uh Lions Vikings taxans Jets can anyone does anyone really want to watch the Texans and the Jets Seahawks Titans big game for the Rams Jaguars Buccaneers uh

What’s his name Trevor Lawrence has not cleared concussion protocol keep an eye on that one Cardinals Bears the winner will be the loser in this one quoting a little Dylan uh because uh you know you want to get lower in that draft uh queue and then the Cowboys Dolphins which uh

Could be a lot of offense there but I I like the Dolphins in this one over the Cowboys I like the Dolphins actually by a couple touchdowns and we’ll see how the Cowboys do on the road uh Patriots Broncos boy you wish this one could be flexed out that’s on Sunday night and

Then on Christmas day uh you got the Raiders Chiefs uh Eagles Giants Ravens 49ers which which will be a nice way to end Christmas that one’s pretty good I went 13 and three last week I would have gone 14- two but the Eagles failed me

Window I don’t think so uh Bill’s taking Rams 30 Saints 20 Mark Reber brought this up Rob scrier was a Rams player back in the 70s he pastors a church in Southern California Man mark that is so interesting because I am G to talk a little bit of Rob Scribner today a

Little bit of Rob Scribner today okay uh on this date in December 20th 1970 the Rams activated kicker David Ray and tight end Pat Curran uh on their active roster and those guys would stay with the Rams through the 1974 season uh born on this day in 1954 was an obscure

Defensive back for the Rams out of San Jose State he was an undrafted free agent so I’m GNA give credit to Don claer on this one uh Dwayne ostein anyone remember Dwayne ostein he was with the Rams in 78 and then he was with them in 79 in 79 he picked off four

Passes started many games uh recovered a fumble and he was key he was he was one of the defend ERS on that run to the Super Bowl before the Rams got healthy with both Rod Perry and Pat Thomas but uh Dwayne Ting lost Super Bowl 14 but

The next summer the Rams traded him to the Raiders for a ninth round pick didn’t amount to anything and he won a Super Bowl with the Raiders in fact he was with the Raiders for uh for two seasons intercepted four passes made some starts uh and uh by that time

Though they were drafting Ted Watts then they made the deal for Marcus Haynes later so they moved him out and he he bounced around with the Colts Packers and Buccaneers before his career ended but today would be uh Dwayne ost’s 69th birthday unfortunately he passed away in

2000 of a heart attack or 2001 of a heart attack in 1962 born on this day uh Rams left guard Deluxe Tom Newberry was born he turns uh what is that would that be 61 today uh he was out of Wisconsin Lacrosse Wisconsin lacrosse uh second

Round 50th overall in 1986 this was a hit by the Rams when they couldn’t get anything right in the NFL draft but they did seem to get this one in that same draft the Rams took a Canadian named Mike shod ahead of him with the 23rd

Overall pick shod was a flop with the Rams ending up starting four years with the Eagles in a non-descript way but he was a flop a year later the Rams took Donald Evans the year before in 85 the Rams spent the same pick that they got Newberry with in the 85 draft 50th

Overall on a wide receiver named Chuck Scott but somewhere I don’t know you know what what what is it uh clock uh broken clock is right right twice a day they say um John Shaw and John Robinson did this and they got Tom Newberry played nine Seasons with the Rams First

Team all pro twice he was a battler left guard uh 131 games for the Rams he started 128 uh really underrated wore number 66 uh and uh played nine seasons for the Rams and then when they were on their way to St Louis he became a free agent

And he started for the Steelers in 1995 he played the whole season for them and started in Super Bowl 30 against the Cowboys and then he retired but Tom Newberry is a forgotten Ram when you think about all the talent that they had and all those guys that played and

Going to a ram game like did you go yeah did you get binoculars and uh and stuff and then they went to Anaheim and yeah that might not have been the most glorious period because Georgia had control of the team and we had all kinds of issues with Georgia and everything I

Totally get it um but the proximity to the game action was so much better and then because it was a smaller Stadium it was selling out all the time and so when the Rams went to Anaheim we were seeing games on TV that you know you couldn’t

See uh those games in 72 the Vikings and the Rams that 4541 we couldn’t see it Rams beating the Falcons 20 we couldn’t see it uh Cowboys uh Rams the Harold Jackson game 3731 we couldn’t see it the Jack snow game where he caught the winning touchdown pass against the

Vikings in 74 we couldn’t see it all these things we couldn’t see because of that ridiculous blackout rule in that archaic Stadium which is no longer archaic USC’s done a great job the worst thing that ever happened to the Coliseum was the Coliseum commission but USC

Seems to have done a fantastic job the Coliseum is a great place to see again now uh Georgia’s husband had an issue with Georgia too yeah which which husband was that was that number one or number nine uh and stuff yeah Georgia the least popular woman in La uh so uh

Yeah I did enjoy the games at Anaheim I did you know and uh and so I didn’t feel any lost connection because the Rams weren’t in La uh I know some people I think even Eric Dickerson tried to make it a racial thing that they moved hey
