Today we have Ian and Mikey testing the Bel-Air putter vs. a classic Scotty Cameron design.
The Bel-Air features a matte carbon head. The all-carbon construction, a material 5x less dense than solid steel, allows for a much larger area of forgiveness for off-centre hits.
LA GOLF’s Bel-Air features the patented Descending Loft Face technology, but does this truly solve the consistency issues a solid steel putter may have? And will the grooves create better launch angles and yield more predictable rolls?

I use the exact same Scotty Putter. It’s the best putter I’ve ever used. It’s perfectly balanced, it literally feels like I’m putting on a rail.
I have a NP2 and. Versa 7 I just got and love them both .. I would absolutely never give LA golf any of my money just because the owner is a complete douche bag IMO over priced garbage
My gripe with Scotty is on Bermuda greens. I see on GCQuad that the Scotty doesn’t roll good on strikes that is not perfect. Ex. Face angle, aoa, and strike location. Other putters with tech seem to roll better in these scenarios.
Seriously enjoyed the comparison. I agree with other commenters that comparing blade to mallet would be interesting as well as grip size/style. Also would like to see a review of a Bettnardi putter if you have not done one yet. Great job. Also, if the Scotty used in the video is not your gamer, then you must average about 25 putts per round.
Keep going with the putter reviews!
What’s the price difference? No lefties as of yet for LAGP
Shoutout to Karsten Solheim nailing the Anser design 57 years ago, these companies are still riding his wave
Yes keep the putters going!!! Tri-Hot 5k Double Wide DB please!!!!! I will donate on that one!
At the end of the day I love the golfer who has trust in their flat stick (whatever the brand) but as a Titleist ambassador, I sure like when titleist clubs are competing at a high level. And I’m glad our clubs can fit into a wide spectrum of players.
Any testing for the LA golf ball coming up?
Would love to see a head to head with an old mallet like a Bobby Grace Fat Lady Swings and something new like a TM Spider
Love these vids! Long time subscriber! You all should test out how the face feels softer or firmer and does it effect roll. Example the Ping Tyne 4, arguably the best softest feeling putter against the Betti’s or Scotties. I’ve played them all and and still go back to the Ping. So does softer or firmer produce a better roll. Thanks for all you guys do!
So over Anser A verse Anser B putter…literally the most over rated putter shape in history. 10 years from now it will all be stable mallet designs on tour. 1950's technology, time to wrap it up.
Good test. The look and feel of a putter is very impotent…which can be effected by grip size; the shaft construction, weight and length…just to name a few elements. Perhaps that is why of all the club golfers own…the putter is usally the most in their closet and year-in-year-out…they always go in the back and come out.
I’d love to see LAB golf Mezz or Link1 tested!
The Wizard isn't just knowledgeable about the equipment but of the mechanics of the swing. Learn young one.
No need to mess with perfection. Using my Scotty for 9 years now.
I love a putter video. I would like the quintic putter numbers to be converted into thousands so it reads a bit like driver spin i think it would help to separate good from bad putters and strokes
Yes I’m enjoying the putter videos, I can use all the putting info I can get to help me make improvements
Theyr are all just 57 year old Ping Ansers with Xmas Decorations are they not?🤣🤣My old Anser is still in the bag and goes fine 👌😎🖕
I'd love to see if there's any real substance to Scotty's "R&D." A comparison to the Anser and several other anser copies would be interesting.
With Mikey having slow rotation and not really a sweep (likely bad choice of words, not how to describe it), it would be interesting to see someone with a larger grip size that has a somewhat locked in arm motion (Mikey like many players looks like he likes a "handsy" feel). Fun watch nevertheless, cheers lads.
Great content. Please continue and add even more. I’m an Edel user and would love to see a comparison with another brand on SAM
Great stuff. Can we compare an Evnroll against one. Love my Evnroll
As many people are already saying, Newport Vs lab link would be amazing, as well as a full LAB review of their entire range. Awesome video as always
Redo all the old videos under the CC banner. Thanks!
Lab link 1 comparison please lads… I’m hunting one down on eBay 😂
How do you bend the LA putter?
Paige ain't got nuthin' on our boy Mikey.
recently got a bel-air and I absolutely love it, never felt so confident on the greens before
Looks, sound, and feel are important to calm the mind and inspire confidence in putting. I use a Scotty Special Select Newport 2. Have tried all my buddies “tech” putters and have no doubt they offer performance. I still feel more comfortable with an Anser 2/Newport 2 style putter.
NEED a review of the LAB putters lads!!
Really interesting but did you customize the Scotty to win by not changing the weight or sight line of the LAG, but changing the sight line etc of the Scotty? Does a player’s inherent bias overwrite their objectivity forcing swing changes to deliberately encourage and outcome. I ask only as I’ve been considering this comparison, current Scotty vs LA Golf bel air
LA Vs LAB would be an interesting comparison 👀
I'll buy a Cameron when they clean up the cavity. Drop the cherry bombs and put a script Titleist. Would be cleaner
You guys should do a review on putters outside with how sound/feel affects distance control and if there are certain brands that have the best sound/feel combo that aids in distance control. Outside of MOI, grooves, which obviously come into play and help with putting, the feedback would be interesting nuance to test. I feel as though there is good reason why so many pros choose the putters they choose (scotty cameron, odyssey, LAB) and it would be interesting to look into why – especially when not all pros are "paid to play" the putters they use. Keep up the great content!
Always Anser, never newport.
Will you be getting the LA golf putter in the Glasgow store because I used both the Bel-Air and Malibu at LIV Golf London and loved them and would love to be fitted for one
Interesting video. I know few golfers that actually get fit for a putter. They usually just pic one they like the look and the feel of. That may be costing golfers strokes.
You really need to setup the putters the same to compare the heads. Put a LAGF shaft in the Scotty!
I play a light putter. Old carbon steel Scotty. I’ve tried everything else…I just like a lighter putter (lighter for the Anser style).
I prefer a dot, too. Though my gamer has no center mark.
Great vid. My Golf Spy 2023 testing suggests that the Newport was ranked No.1 from 5 feet……not sure LA Golf version made it into the mix at the time….
I have an Odyssey eleven putter , but i am interested in a blade putter. After a couple of months doing research and testing putters I have narrowed it down to a Scotty Cameron , red dot blade putter. But I have ran across Bettinardi putters, so I don’t want to commit to the Scotty until I try the other out . I heard a few story’s , are they equally the same or is one better then the other!
Putter does not require swing speed. Steel shaft only
