  1. To Chris Rand: Quote : ' WBA have lost to Blackburn, Huddersfield and Birmingham.'..
That was then, this is now. Albion have won 8 games this season and 4 of those (half) have come in the last 5 games, The one defeat in 5 ( soton ) Albion should have won. since then, we have beaten Preston, Hull, and now you. soton got lucky.
Don't forget, until recently, we had a big injury problem and as more of our better players have become fit from injury, the more options have become available to Corboran, who is improving the team all of the time and now getting the best out of players who we wanted to off-load earlier in the season ( Diangana, Kipre etc..).
The version of WBA you just played is not the same one that played Blackburn, Huddersfield and Birmingham, earlier in the season and they won't find it quite so easy in the return matches.

  2. Great podcast, chaps, and your assessment of the WBA game was very earnest, with no excuses or Bs.
The fact is, speaking as an Albion fan, your team has clearly earned it's position in the table through merit and there is a lot of quality in your team- phenomenal as you are newly promoted.
At no point in the game, did I feel comfortable, as if Albion had the game won, until the final whistle, because, in spite of our apparent control for much of the game , we were aware that you have the proven quality to score at any point and turn the game around. Albion had to be at their very best to win. I know that the return match will not guarantee us the same result. Respect to you all.

  3. I only watched the first half because the Sky timing clashed with my dinner plans. Aside from the early goal West Brom didn't threaten our goal. They just made life difficult by getting in our faces and holding a high line. Burns looked so rusty. He was getting into good positions but not his usual standards. Hirst was offside too much and no-one had that little spark as the finishing was very bad.
Fair play to West Brom because they played their game to protect their lead and forced us into over commiting ourselves leaving us short at the back for the second goal. It would have been 3 if not for an excellent clearance from their attacker.
It was key not to conceed early on to West Brom as the most you are likely to get is a draw if you do that.
    We can't keep chasing games.
It's difficult to put your finger on it because the early goals are not the same.
Personally I would have been on the post from a corner, but I know modern coaches don't want that.

  4. A defeat had to happen eventually and we lost to a very good side. Some fan channels are analysing their team's defeats on an almost weekly basis; hopefully it'll remain something of a novelty for us.

  5. West Brom are in the middle of a takeover so whether they are a selling or buying club in Jan will depend on that.

  6. From a Baggies fan, great looking poddy, but all the credit to your team and manager, McKenna has a bright future in football, hope he stays at Ipswich for a while longer, always preferred your lot over Norwich, good luck for rest of season!

  7. Thank you for the great info and fun you put into the show, we very much appreciate all the time and effort you make in making the podcast Still 2nd who could have ever thought it ?
