Many golf experts consider our backswing to be the glue that holds together every other piece of motion that follows in our swing. Those same experts would refer to the downswing transition as the power supply to the stroke that follows. Despite the constant emphasis on sticking to simple, repetitious swing styles being taught by many coaches, there are still many core techniques that every golfer needs to pay attention to.

George Gankas golf lessons focus on developing the natural abilities in a player, while working to correct any flaw motion present in their existing golf swing. The most crucial element to the stroke of any golfer happens during the backswing to downswing transition. This transition can often be rushed through by many players who are transitioning to their downswing motion way too quickly. This prevents their golf swing from transitioning naturally and ties the body up with flawed rotation. Players must understand that their downswing should start at the same pace as their backswing previously had started.

Many coaches believe that the transition begins immediately before the golf club has reached the top of the backswing. That would be the exact moment when a player’s hips and torso are rotating in the direction of their intended target. Body weight should be shifting forward during this time in the anticipation of establishing proper speed in the club head.

Most players that are plagued by slices may want to consider starting the downswing transition by first rotating their arms. This will extend their golf club ahead of their body, allowing their hips to then rotate. Consider holding your shoulders back during the downswing, which will assist the hands and arms in lowering the clubhead. This technique will ensure players are able to hit the ball squarely upon impact. If completed correctly, the likelihood of slicing will be drastically reduced.
