BIG BOY CHEST RIG: VelSys Pusher Gen VI

The perfect 7.62x51mm rig for barrel chested marines and anybody wearing an IOTV. The Velocity Systems Pusher rig is configurable for STANAG mags, AK mags, or 7.62x51mm/.308 Win mags with swappable inserts, and can also carry a radio the size of a 1980s cell phone. Unfortunately you have to be shaped like a Dorito to use one properly.

  1. I use a type 83 or a T.A.P.S over my iiia w/1.2llb iv icws and a water resistant shoulder slung rpk gunners bag. my belt i drop on 2 ak, ar or mp5 mag pouches with a few pistol mags. so my rigs just have mags, ifak, tqs, random tools. mre, water, sport smokes/sim smokes. 6"2 160 it fits me thankfully. and at 320lbs the rigs fit. I could see how any wider than t.a.p.s for myself, would be an issue though.

  2. do you larpers really need all that crap for target shooting? its not like youre really gonna clean up your libby svithole.

  3. I run the Haley Heavy with G-code Scorpions for my Scar. Would work same same for SR mags. Works well with several packs I use. 5’8” 160.

  4. Hop the true influencer. Being honest and trying to steer people away from the HSP cult.

  5. Hey Hop, I’d recommend the Hurricane Hybrid chest rig from Direct Action if you’re looking for a new rig to play with. Split front so you can add a flat panel and easy on/off, and doesn’t glow.

  6. Thanks for the honest review Hop. My friend has a flak from Mayflower and that has served him well, but it sounds like some of their chest rigs are a pass. That's unfortunate.

  7. My recent hunt for a chest rig taught me a few things.
-I definitely hate x-harnesses. I'm still trying to get around to making an H-harness for a P83.
-The Esstac Chicom rig is really well made but the tall kywi type pouches are a bit too tight but they're adjustable…sort of. I love the shorter kywis though, high recommend.
-I should've looked at ATS sooner. I got their Slimline rig, ranger green. Super comfortable harness, sits nice and high. I only have 4 mags a TQ on it, I don't run a radio but it has PALS on the sides for a pouch or one can use some of the sewn-in pouches. My experience with chest rigs is minimal but I found the perfect one for me. Also I don't worry about reinserting magazines, I have a small dump pouch on it.

  8. I don't understand how Tactical Tailor seemed to go by the wayside. They have a chest rig which is basically a an entire blank MOLLE panel you can outfit with whatever pouches you want, whether TT or another make. DId me well overseas, mil and private sector.

  9. I use a tac tailor mav 2 piece to run 308. A bit "outdated" but mine has held up for 15 years of use and abuse.

  10. 6’4 205 didn’t know u were built like that😤 I feel the same thing being lanky w rigs same height/weight

  11. The 2 smaller gp pouches fit a vortex range finder, a 20 rd ar mag, smaller notepad, lensaatic compass or suunto baseplate compass, the bigger pouch is wide enough for a protractor.

This is a military focused rig for sure, and it excels at that, that said, prepared citizens should have maps and compasses etc… on their kit…

  12. Please keep us updated on your search for the best 308 chest rig. I have been looking at the Pusher as well as what TRex arms had for that caliber.

  13. A nice tip for the med pouch is the new bfg small tkn fits very nicely. Tuck the pushers Velcro flap in and the tkn flap operates as if it was in the tkn pouch

  14. Thank you for such an honest talk

Yeah brother, I’m looking at those biggest pouches tucked so far back they are practically under your arms, giving you invisible lat syndrome, and I’m just gritting my teeth knowing how much I detest that bulky, crowded feeling.

  15. I see you've upgraded your commo configuration. I've been looking at those old ef johnson radios too. Would be interesting to get another commo video from you talking about your experience with it.

  16. I just sold one of these and went with an Onward Research rig. For me not being in anymore, the ability to add a Nalgene pouch, a decent GP and a dangler plus 8 mags? Thing was right up my alley.

  17. Hey I know you probably already have another chest rig in mind but try an ATS Tactical chest rig. I like mine alot. Not arm pit issues

  18. I'm laughing at the PRC 152 being "the size of a cinder block" when the 119 and 117 are both man portable and even bigger

  19. 308 should see some competition pressure from 6.5G and 6 ARC as Civilians Up Match their Mini-Action AR15's. Not moving into the 90K PSI 6.8×51(M7), the 308 Web Gear should be seeing a little dry up as the buyers descend upon the supply.

I like Hop's review and style. What I noticed about this layout is that it is a 1 layer/Prone Friendly. (A 1 Layer 308 pouch under the Arm is not bad until there is a plate under it.)

If that is going to be the case of Military employment of the Battle Rifles, then any AR15/M16/5.56 double pouch will perform the same function.

Certainly the rig removes the material bulk and sag of MOLLE, but in the interim:

    Double 5.56 Pouch equals a single 308.

Present production 308 Single and Double Pouches do not facilitate a Magpul, and not likely a 25rdr

Old ALCE Quad556 =3x 308, even 308AK mags with the feeder and rear lugs.

Old L1A1 Pouches hold 25rdrs well, and like the QUAD 556 the flap will close over a Magpul yet in this case for the 25rder.

Scorpion Taco Pouches will hold a 308 AK alright, but looks to be stressing the design. It might chew them up. The slick SLR-G3-AR10 and even lugged M1A mags will be less stressful.

I would dare to argue that the greater Penetration of the Battle Rifle Cartridge and these new Modern Cartridges like the 6.5G, 6ARC, and M7, that fewer rounds will be needed for Fire Superiority, as concealment trends upwards and cover trends downwards. Thus, a 6x Loadout of either will be plenty as 6.5G smashes a CMU Block about the same as 308-147g, and the Grendel will have +5rds in each Magazine over the 308 and M7.

The more things change, the more things stay the same.

  20. I used the haley stretegics heavy rig. I find the gp pouches on there's alittle bit more useful and and enjoys ability to extend or shrink. I use it for ak and ar 10 setups. I'm 5'8 and 140 lbs and it goes under more arms alittle but can still have my arms lay flat if I want to. I also don't run my medical pouch on my rig which helps with that and run it on my belt.

  21. I'm convinced that god could give hop the most immaculately crafted piece of gear and it would take him all of 5 minutes to completely shit on it

  22. Although it isn't the stock product in it's entirety, a lot of the problem with the back strap being too long can be fixed with a Spiritus back strap, which I find fits me very well as a relatively small guy, at least compared to you.

  23. The radio pouch is made for chonk mil radios. Try the radio in one of the mag pouches. You can fit two more mags in the radio pouch and it won't dig into your arm pit.

  24. I have a lot in common with this video buddy. I can't find a chest rig that has just what I want. Either I can't add the couple things I need or there piles of stuff I don't need. Can't even describe the amount of crap I've got. At least enough to build 4 chest rigs and a couple LBEs. Some day.
