The tournament takes place for the 143rd time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Last year, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Poland’s Iga Swiatek claimed the men’s and women’s singles titles. It was both players’ first US Open title, with Alcaraz winning his first Grand Slam title and Swiatek winning her third Grand Slam title. 1. What a humble champ. Well done Coco. I’m definitely going to watch all your upcoming Australian Open matches. You can do this once more 💪

  2. ts so weird that people kept judging her talent on winning a slam by a certain age . Sure many of the greats won their first slam by or before 17 (Serena, Graf, Arantxa, Monica, Hingis) but the one biggest outlier won her first singles slam at 21 and to this day is still considered in the conversation of greatest players of all time : Martina Navratilova. Also, Venus is a 7 time singles champion and didn't win her first until she was 20. I think Justine won her first in 2003 at 20 as well. Chris Evert was 19 when she won her first slam and owns 18 singles titles.

  3. Congratulations Coco! Being 19 and having a presence like this is remarkable. Having the insight to say "Everything led to this moment so there were no mistakes." That's incredible!! A true Champion and wonderful example of what it takes to be Great!!!

  4. I come back to watch this, and I cry each time because I’ve followed her since 2019 and I can only imagine how much she’s had to persevere especially with all the criticism, doubts, racists etc that are always so loud against her. so happy and so proud she has shut everyone up. This is just the beginning.
