  1. Also known as Requiem for a Zombie 😭

Man . . . it really shows how far Korean MMA has fallen off that on a show in Asia headlined by TKZ the only other Korean is Seung Woo Choi and he's the curtain jerker. At least we were spared the indignity of having to watch another Ji Yeon Kim fight. I blame K-pop, back in MY day we were all ugly dudes punching our way out of a poor ass country to make a living (yes, even the white collar professionals, that's how badass we were) and now they all want to be AI looking pretty boys prancing around like it's Christmas morning. You know what those Korean adjacent Chinese like to say, the first generation makes the money, the second generation spends the money and the third generation make TikTok videos.

Like everyone I love the Zombie. But I don't like what I'm hearing in his interviews . . . he's basically said that his dream for the longest time was to fight Holloway for the title but he never made it to a title shot against him, so getting to fight him now at least checks that box in the bucket list. I respect TKZ for wanting to be able to say he fought all the great ones in his era but "win or lose, at least I can say I did it" doesn't exactly inspire confidence in a fighter. I fear he is destined to be The Korean Cowboy, a legendary action fighter whose nerves nevertheless aren't quite there for him when the lights are brightest. The MMA Gods always intended that he be the Hector to somebody else's Achilles.

I used to live in Massachusetts and now live in Japan, I don't know if Ben hates me for that but I assume that's close enough to being from Connecticut to be at least be held in his withering contempt.

  2. I'd really like to listen, and the guy with the glasses and hat on seems to know his stuff but when the co-host comes into a podcast designed to break down card in depth and starts with 'my tape study is at an all time low this week', why would I bother? Basically saying here is my guess work based on vaguely remembering a few fights

  3. I'm really high on Blanchfield, the fight with Santos should totally be a main event of a fight night. I couldn't really give a fig about the rest of the card even though I'll watch it because I love watching MMA. But the main event only exists because it stops Holloway from halting another contender for Volk and the co-main in Smith vs Spann is a rematch nobody cares about. I mean, obviously Cortes-Acosta vs Brzeski will steal the night, but still….

  4. Terrible that they put Blanchfield/Santos at 3 rounds. You guys brought up the media/fan scoring from Santos/Chevy title fight – that tells one story, but the champ only started winning rounds once she gave the headbutt and Santos' eye was compromised. It was absolute domination before that.

  5. You're also forgetting Taila does not have the same coaching staff after scamming them during the Schev fight. She also lost most of her sparing partners. Along with all that she is only a blue belt in bjj. If she gets taken down she will struggle. ( As a side note… this fight only happened because Manon dropped out of an agreed upon contract to fight Blanchfield)

  6. It sucks for MMA fans that KZ had to do his mandatory service. We lost good years of his prime. But he hasn't lost to bad folks either and he's still beating the Dan Iges of the division. But honestly I hope he retires. He doesn't' need to fight to make money. Dude's pretty popular now in South Korea along with Stun Gun Kim and Sexyama (Akiyama is ethnically Korean I believe and goes by Choo Sung Hoon there. I believe his grandfather or great grandfather immigrated their family from Korea to Japan a long long time ago). I'm actually surprised how well known Stun Gun has become in Korea haha. I'm happy for the guy, he's funny.

  7. I love when Ben asks Keith to guess the odds… I think you should just make that a regular thing, every fight! : )

  8. Never heard that "3rd World Country" comment before, that is flipping hilarious!! 🤣🤣🤣

  9. Keith if Smith is subbed you gotta do like McNulty in a Bodymore accent and explain why his new nickname is "No Heart Anthony" except in an MMA context.

  10. Im with you Ben. I don't understand this Anthony Spann line at all. Anthony dropped the dude twice and was wobbling him with every strike he threw and then got down and subbed em. Almost complete domination and that was only 2 years ago. Since then he faced 2 dangerous opponents so to sit here and say he fell off is not really true. Yeah if you compare his performance in that fight to last his two but that's just cause he had Spanns number and I believe he has it again. Its not like Spann looked great himself in his last few fights. Only way I see Spann having success is spamming leg kicks or hoping to wrap up a sub in the scrambles. Otherwise I don't think he's going to want to strike with Anthony at all.
