I see the EU crushing the Americans easy…. But that said I can fully explain at least Zach Johnson's theory… The Americans have not won in Europe in 30 years…. Last time I checked that's kind of a long time isn't it Alex? In those 30 years Team USA always just seem to send whomever lined up in the Ryder Cup Standings and Captains had fewer picks… The Americans were better on paper and there was very little doubt as the world rankings would back that up but Team Europe played chess they built a strong teams that played for each other… Zach choose who he thought might be the best cohesive team for what will be yet again another hostile environment as they try to break the 30 year streak. Lucas for starters created a broomstick anchor putter and it is really only a fix for the 13 stimp meter reading greens on tour… That Long stick never had a shot of working at Marco Simone's 9 stimp meter reading greens…. He is too old to relate to the kids and the same can be said for Keegan…. Again I'll repeat it… you have a desperate US team that is looking for any edge to end the 30 year drought… Regardless this Team Europe is the Bully this year…. If the Team is Rahm, Rory, Hovland, Fleetwood, Fitzpatrick, Rose…. Team USA Scheffler, Wydham, Harmon, Homa, Koepka, Rickie… I smell an A$$ whooping coming! The EU will return the route favor served to them here….
They act like it’s best American pga players against Europe instead of best American pro golfer against Europe. There are a few more that should have been under consideration. Cameron, Bryson etc
Spieth and JT should not be on the team….Bradley and Glover or Young. …..this is the same ole B.S.
More politics in golf. It's bullshit. Love JT but he didn't earn it. You have to put the best players on the team. This year, JT wasn't playing well at all. It's a bullshit pick
Thomas is the only pick I think anybody would probably disagree with and while Lucas Glover and Dechambeau were more deserving let's remember Thomas won the PGA championship this year at Southern Hills and when he's in decent form he's clearly a consistent top 10 player in the world. I think he'll play well and I certainly believe he will rise to the occasion. He has no weaknesses in his game.
Most would agree that the picks for the Rydern cup are all very likable guys perhaps with the exception being Koepka. However, picking the team should not be based on being a good guy or a good friend but how they have played and are presently playing. It is no secret that JT has not been playing well all year. His pick is subject to cronyism and not on his record of late. Ricky Fowler has a dismal Ryder cup record and was picked because of recent better play. Was it better than Lucas Glover's back to back wins. I think not. Additionally he was in the final 30 and JT was not.
Zach and JT are men of outstanding character and I have admired both of them But this choice as well as Fowler reeks of favortism and being a buddy of the other players. They haven't won in 30 years over there. Perhaps this is one of the reasons.
I think Zach's picks are BETTER than the qualifiers; 4 captain's pick are multiple major winners that have won in Europe vs. 3 qualifiers that are major winners. The qualifiers have 3 majors between them vs. cap's picks that have 15 majors combined; Brooks alone has more majors than all of the qualifiers combined; I think this Ryder Cup team will win.
Wish they would go back to 10 qualifiers and 2 picks. Eliminate most of the politics and second guessing.
I think Burns was picked was because he is buddies with Scotty. He's pretty clutch, also. I wouldn't have picked Thomas. Spieth is questionable, too.

I will be surprised if Speith and JT score a point. They are both in an extended slump. Several players that are hot right now would have fit the team better.

What a disappointing decision by the captain. It's as if this is more about pleasing egos than rewarding exceptional play. I will not be surprised if the matches weren't all but over by singles play on Sunday.
Bryson over Rickie Fowler is a no brainer. Hard to exclude JT as his Ryder Cup record is sick. Also remember Europe include Ian Poulter forever because he and Sergio crushed everyone.
what a joke re those who talk about team building etc; the US has been getting waxed so many times after putting out the same bs; we, the US, a democracy right, should just say the top 12 Ryder Points guys are the team. Now, because of social media, fans are more aware of who is buddy buddy. We knew the fox was in when CBS fatso Colt Knost(?) said “guarantee Justin Thomas will be on the team”; he hangs out with these guys, used his CBS influence to lay down the texture for Z Johnson to pick his buddy JT. THAT’S A CONFLICT OF INTEREST in my opinion and CBS should either fire Colt or offer an explanation. It’s not right.

I'm a lifelong golfer and team USA supporter. Have been to three Ryder Cups but will be rooting for Europe this go round. Never much cared for Z. Johnson as a player, and by picking J. Thomas, who can hardly break par these days, he's already lost me as a coach/leader. I'm not even going to bother watching these matches, just hoping he and JT get their well deserved drubbing.

Justin Thomas has no business anywhere near the Ryder Cup in any form. Its an insult to the American team as a whole. He didnt earn it by any measure given. Zach and his vice captains should be sanctioned if not replaced. Will look for alternative viewing during this Ryder Cup.
Additionally, the same can be said for Brooks Koepka.
Wow, JS & JT made it – how and why????? JT is looking for his game and JS (great short game) but on Alternate shot he puts USA at a disadvantage. We'll have to hold our breath when JT has the shot. Sorry but this isn't going to be competitive 😵💫
