  1. Brit here – well done Mark and Louise for a fair and insightful analysis of that dramatic day. As you say, Jonny and Marc both made mistakes they probably will never make again. I especially agree with Martk about the disgusting behaviour of the MCC members in the Long Room which was truly shocking. Alcohol plays a big part in these incidents

  2. As a Pom the letter of the law hit both teams in the last couple of days
The starc catch reversal whilst not out to the letter of the law would have had me hot and my shandy will have been spilled as a result
The Bairstow stumping was out , I do wished it wasn’t but wishes are just that !

But let’s not kid ourselves if it was reversed I’ve got doubt it would be weaponised by your guys 100% not sure the spray in the long room was needed mind !

  3. English are such sore losers, he was stumped because he wasn’t concentrating. Spirit of the Game, where was that when they were bowling bouncers at an injured Lyon? But that’s ok, such hypocrites ! Anyway 2-0. Good lucky Patty and the boys in game 3. All of Australia stand with you against these petulant children.

  4. Had Ashwin did a mankad in a game involving Aussies he would flip and rage and talk about spirit of the game argument as well.

  5. The next time Australia play at Lords they’ll need security to escort them through the Long Room. Good work England for your repugnant display of abuse, threats and assault. Certainly not in the spirit of the game, but what else to expect from Toff-losers eh?

  6. Xi for australia third test
    1. Warner or Harris (depending on warner finger)
    2. Khawaja
    3. Labuschagne
    4. Smith
    5. Head
    6. Green
    7. Carey
    8. Starc
    9. Cummins
    10. Hazlewood or boland
    11. Murphy

  7. What do you mean “learned a lesson”?

He’s been doing it himself entire career

  8. Aussies – please stop meaning!!! Our team includes Warner, Smith and a host of bowlers caught in the biggest cheating scandal in the game!!!

  9. Sorry, giving Bairstow out was a dead wrong decision. It could have changed the result as well. Everybody I spoke with says it was unsportsmanlike. What did they say to the aussie players ? Cowards ? Cheats ? You ripped us off ? You stole the match ? All perfectly warranted and true. It was pathetic and aussies at their very worst. If it was one of theirs they would be claiming that it was a dead ball.
The side angle replays show it clearly. Bairstow ducked, thenhe stood up, leaned back, stuck his bat in the crease, and dragged a foot across. He was well in control of the crease but the aussies played a dirty trick. Just because the umpire did not call 'over', and the ball happened to hit the stumps just after Bairstow started walking towards the other end to talk to the non-striker,his captain, they unfairly appealed and have kept denying that Bairstow was not out. The claim that the umpire had not called end of over is simply ludicrous. The keeper was standing way back and it took the ball an eternity to hit the stumps. A stumping has to happen in a fraction of a second. The keeper must stand up close to the stumps. Anything else is not a stumping. The ball was dead when it hit the gloves and the batsman signalled thereafter that he has control of the crease.
Also aussies, stop hiding behind the umpire's skirt like cowards. For years you have disputed every umpiring decision that could possibly be disputed, including this one.
In other sports as well, players don't always wait for the referee. A player serves an ace to end the game and the opponent, and sometimes even the server, just walks to his chair. There is no need for the umpire to call it over in the instant replay era. We the unbiased audience, called it over when we saw replays indicating that Bairstow was in control of the crease after the ball passed(and green bowls at 83 mph).
I agree with Americans that baseball is better. The rules are clear and a batsman only gets out if the play is fair.

  10. Gutless. Aussies have a cell missing in their brains on sportsmanship. It simply does not land on their radar. It's an irrelevant hypothetical construct. Animals. + I am an Australian weekend cricketer. Embarassed in the extreme.

  11. I’m English, I’ve got absolutely no problem with the Bairstow dismissal, it was brain dead schoolboy cricket from him and the reaction to it has been embarrassing. I don’t think there’s much between these teams but Australia have the edge with their quick bowling and their tactics. Bazball is deeply flawed.

  12. You say about the rules of carey and it was correct but the problem is when you want win at all cost and Mark Taylor avoiding me wearing an England cap. I paid alot of hard earned money and for now tv. Also recovering after cancer which is life or death not the ashes. Do you know that I waited for any cricketer to take photos of me. Every English man took one and when I saw Mark Taylor and I asked to take a photo. He ignored me as I thought he was neutral but I was proven wrong because he ignored me and went to the media box. After chemotherapy and I am just recovering from cancer, I am very upset how the Australians want to win at all cost when it is only a game. Do you know I was one of last few supporters waiting after the match on the 5th day waiting. If you had cancer, you might think differently.

  13. You know your words are worthless, such bad winners with Steve Smith and David Warner cheats. How can that be, I had cancer and this cricket is cheating with Mitchell Starc grounding the ball. You will always be remembered for bottle and sandpaper cheating for winning the ashes. Really bad sprint from Australia and it hurts as a neutral person. Bad winners Australia, you living the life of guilt and racism and not facing the facts. If Mark Taylor was a good sportsman after the 2nd Test match, then why didn't he take a photo. Whinging Australia, not life or death like cancer treatment like I had.

  14. Not warning a batsman first, before an attempted stumping, when he walks out of his crease is common knowledge as the wrong thing to do.

  15. Same old Aussies, always cheating……..same old aussies, always cheating……..

  16. It’s a shame reading these comments 4 weeks later & remembering how stupid Australia were in relation to the non pandemic. Wanting to lock up the un vaccinated in concentration camps & banning Novak Djokovic after suggesting he could play in a minor tennis competition even though he was sensible enough NOT to take the poison! I would say it’s a country lacking lacking common sense & a moral compass. Following the debacle in South Africa the Baistow incident was an opportunity to show the cricketing world their sporting instincts have been restored?
