What should the USMNT September Roster look like?

The USMNT’s September Roster for friendlies against Oman and Uzbekistan is scheduled to drop in a week and it is Gregg Berhalter’s first roster back since US Soccer and Matt Crocker decided to “rehire” him. Today I go over how we should approach this roster and who should be in it.

Hint: No MLS lifers allowed.

  1. Walker Zimmerman needs to go to europe and I know the exact team he should go to…. Fulham…. Exchange Tim ream for Zimmerman almost identical looking and the plus you get with Walker it’s the aerial threat…. He is “El Senor de Los Cielos” whenever the ball is in the air…. He is a beast and could be our best CB

  2. Trust me on this, it will be half front line, European players, half washed up over the hill, MLS players. This is Greg Burkhalter. Just accept it and move on.

  3. My only hope is we start to move some of our U-20/U-23 guys along to the senior team soon so I very much agree in that aspect Pete, I just already know the federation is going to use our upcoming U-23 camps as excuses as to why some of our most talented youngsters weren't called up so we get the same old re-treads. Overall the main positions we need sorting are GK depth chart behind Turner, a true backup LB, as well as our backup 6 behind Adams now. Hopefully moving forward these can be addressed and that Gregg grows smart enough to recognize these issues.

  4. Im going to the ghana match in october, its in a fifa window so i assume our best players will be there.

I hope so, cuz i dont wanna make the trip just to see mls lifers

  5. I would love this roster. You get the starters and you get the next group of players who can push them out when they’re older.

  6. Love the roster, love and hope the young centerbacks grow…on other notes how has Justin Che been?

  7. Solid analysis. Like how you and Tact are working together to create one video for what Gtegg will do and then one which makes more sense to you.

  8. On Horvath and Luton. There are worse 'keepers. Seems like if you've got a guy for a reasonable price that can get you by, then maybe prioritize spending in other areas. Where is your spending going to get you the biggest impact? You've said it a bunch that he's Championship level. Well, he's won promotion from the Championship twice in a row, so seems like he's at the higher end. Most of their team is Championship level. They could have chosen other areas to upgrade, but they dropped the American. Should he leave England? Could he start in the Bundesliga, and would that be a good inbetween step?

  9. I wish I had more faith in Berhalter to be something different. Just don't be shocked when Yedlin is announced…

  10. I know the conventional wisdom is to have Tillman in the midfield and Booth on the wing, but I really think they should be switched. I see Booth as someone with vision who can run an offense through him and Tillman as guy who can rinse someone and get a cross in.

  11. Really like you and Tacs content…. Informative and entertaining….. watching a lot of PSV this year?

  12. Why is Sam Vines not considered as a back up LB? He’s gotten minutes at his club he deserves another look.

  13. Has there been any talk of a u23 camp? That would make more sense than having these guys take roster spots from senior players

  14. I dont really have a problem with the CBs but I doubt another national team bring 3 Centerbacks who primarily play on the left. Im sure Neal can play on the right(since he right footed) but not where he played much
