Peter says: I love the Springboks and rugby is one of my favourite sports. Although as a sports journalist I am supposed to remain neutral, I always like to point out that before I became a professional, I was just a big fan! I hold a Masters Degree in International Journalism so at least you know I should be able to ask a good question or two! My dream is to do this YouTube Channel permanently. 1. Thank you Peter for this interview. Krynauw was a fantastic player and really sounds like a great guy. He is certainty ranked as one of the best locks of all time. Keep up the good work with this great channel. I always look forward to the interviews.

  2. The legend Krynauw!Great interview and great content as always Peter. 1❤🇿🇦👊🏾👍🏾

  3. Great interview Peter and Krynauw love hearing about the backstories from players on the inside. Gives context to historical data 👍

  4. I remember Krynaw suffered some head injury in 2000 which forced him to retire prematurely. The locks we had only Otto and Andrews for the entire Mallet era. There wasn’t a third or forth lock which we have nowadays, was a risky plan, and when Mark andrews and krynaw got injured in 1999, we had to shuffle Boome and van den Berg into the system.

  5. Thanks for another great interview, Peter. Enjoyed listening to Krynauw and his wonderful insights and memories with the boks..

  6. Solid middle of lineout lock. Remember Otto when he came to Bulls (1993) as a flanker , ended up going on SA Barbarians side at end of year. Toured NZ in 1994 ahead of Drikus Hattingh , who was first choice at provincial level. I believe he was selected ahead of more dominant experienced players in 1995 because of his ability to play flank. Hattingh was better lock but had long history of discipline issues. Otto and Andrews combo was good one.

  7. underrated lock, Bulls legend – always loved watching him in combination with Mark Andrews.

  8. Thank you for the great interview yet agian..I have to correct myself..Otto didnt get those good hits in agianst Tucamen…it was that game agianst Ireland at Loftus where even Teichmann lost his cool..agian thx for all your work..Going to be interesting to have a Kiwi on next week
Ps:Great to hear Krynauw is also a fan of your channel..thats a big compliment to you..

  9. Hi Peter, great interview again ( I beamed like a proud relative when he mentioned he was a fan of your channel. It is evident that he does actual follow the channel by the comments he made. It is so well deserved you make such great content)

I was such an Otto fan even though he was a Bull. I had such a chuckle “I could have scored more but Frik du Preez was my hero” what an absolute legend this man is.

I must at admit the fact that he had nice things to say about Carel made me develop a slight crush on him 🤣

This feels like a man who genuinely takes an interest in the people around him. What great advice as well! There needs to be life after rugby.

I love the trivia section of the channel. My answers are hit or miss but I learn/recall so much from them.

Thanks again for the great content Peter. These videos are such a great decompressor for me after a particularly challenging day.

  10. Wonderful interview with one of my favourite childhood players. And wow, cannot wait for the interview with David Kirk.
