  1. which one is best for 800m? I have run 1:53 with the dragonfly but maybe the Adidas ambition is a better choice?

  2. Literally exact same thoughts about air zoom victory. Good for start of race, but when legs tired it is extremely hard to continue running fast in them as on toes, compared to dragonfly.

  3. I switched over to Maxflys as a replacement to the zoom victory for the 600-800m. It was way more stable than the victories, depending on form Maxflys and dragonflys are ahead of victory

  4. I've only got the Nike ones as don't believe any of the others are available in my size (UK 13). I think there is also a factor of ability here. When I did some 400m reps the Air Zoom Victory I thought was faster but, as you imply, it really throws you forward and as soon as get tired just feels unnatural. So even for an 800 I prefer the Dragonfly. As a 55 year old the Dragonfly also has actually allowed me to race long track races in spikes full stop as "technically" nothing else is really legal anyway. I even did a 10000 the other day and could run fine the day after. Would not have said that about the spikes I wore about 20 years ago for the same event but at least it was over quicker 🙂 I wish could roll back the years and try these spikes when I did my main 800/1500 PBs 30 years ago. If you look at the times done now to then the middle distances aren't that different – there just seems more men that say can run around 3:30 or women 4:00 these days but I might argue the 800 has stagnated in recent years and likes of Coe & Cruz look even better now than they did then. Kind of similar at 5000 & 10000 – just more depth and the times especially in the men barely better than Bekele did 20 years ago so amazing he is still going.

  5. I loved the Air Zoom Victory for the 800m. Anything longer than that though I would switch shoes. If you mainly run the 800m though I would highly recommend them. When I had about 300m's left I would just go all out and the spikes would help keep me at my top speed longer than I would otherwise. It was still painful they just helped me force more pain out of myself. Once race I started blacking out with about 150m's left, but the spikes kept me maintaining the same pace.

  6. hoka cielo never really gets a mention. would like to hear more mainstream thoughts there’s bugger all about it

  7. Dragonfly is just OP to me, the fact that you can use them anywhere between an 800 to a 10K, for someone who does 800-3200 during track season and then also does xc theyre awesome

  8. What would be better for 100m, 1000m, long jump and high jump? Like I'm looking for an all round spikes.

  9. Just wish I could find these in the shops. Nike in Africa only let’s you order online from
Europe at your expense! Really poor business model for Africa, so much for being inclusive. So now I’m looking at the other manufacturers spikes simply because Nike has a poor business model for South Africa.
