Throughout all this drama the bright spot is Brock Purdy, the front office is hoping he recovers from his surgical repair elbow. As for Trey Lance chances are he might get traded, but what is so discouraging is he never did beat out Jimmy Garoppolo who he was suppose to replace. So we still don't know if Trey Lance, is the future going forward for the 49ers. Everybody wanted Trey Lance to replace Jimmy G, well be careful what you wish for because now the 49ers still have a unproven quarterback at that position. This is the one position that John Lynch, and Kyle Shanahan failed at since they took over for the team. The 49ers let a good quarterback walk in free agency inJimmy G, if 49ers can sign Javon Hargrave to 84 million dollar contract for 5 years I know they had the money to re-sign Jimmy. I'm just being honest the way the 49ers, lost in the NFC Championship Game only let's you know how valuable the quarterback position is. I hope 2017 don't come back to the 49ers, because in that year we couldn't win games without a good quarterback that was a fact.
Purdy… no lock to come back from a career ending injury to his throwing arm.
Lance…hasn't had the chance to show himself/grow with game experience due to bad luck injuries.
Darnold….it will be very interesting to see how he develops with quality, stable coaching on a good team.

what a lot of folks seem to forget about Trey after being drafted was….it was the intent of the Front Office to have him 'sit' that 1st year and learn the offense, playbook and 'ease into the NFL', that's why he only appeared in a limited # of games the season AFTER being drafted. Once the F/O saw how JimmyG was doing, they decided to hand the keys to Trey the next season. Which they did, but then he got injured!
So, is it really fair to hold that 1st season of 'sitting' against him and to use that to validate the excuse of "he didn't do anything!"???

lance won't be traded or cut because of the salary cap. he would cost the team more in cap space if he was cut or traded. no team is going to give up more then a 5th or 6th round pick for him. so to trade him and create more dead cap space for a 5th or 6th round pick who may not even make the team makes zero sense.

I don't think Lance needs a "fresh start" on another team. The 49ers have an excellent QB coaching staff and he'll have an excellent training camp, continuing his development. I'd say he has a 50% chance of starting Wk1. The other 50% chance goes to Darnold, who Lance will need to beat out for QB1 in camp. My guess is Purdy won't be ready until Wk4 or 5 and then there might be a 3-way competition for QB1. But if Lance beats out Darnold at Wk1 then he'll stay QB1 even after Purdy is healthy, if they're winning games.
