The Curious Case Of Legacy Motor Club

In 2022 Richard Petty Motorsports with an alliance with Maury Gallagher and superb driving from Erik Jones looked to be righting a ship that had been cast away for decades. Jones and the 43 Chevrolet were running fast, leading laps, and even won a crown jewel race in the Southern 500. Now less than a year after Jones’ Darlington victory the script is completely different with the 42 and 43 struggling mightily and even being penalized while new owner Jimmie Johnson faces his own struggles with the rebranded Legacy Motor Club team. This is the curious case of Legacy Motor Club.

  1. I feel so bad for everyone on that Team 😂 they have a bad luck charm hanging on them. I feel for them fr and hope by going to Toyota will switch it up finally for them. They don’t deserve all this

  2. To say that Legacy Motorsports is having such a difficult season, would be a massive understatement….. I knew this team was headed down the drain once Richard Petty gave up his majority ownership stake and made Petty GMS Motorsports, Legacy Motorsports Club….. 2024 couldn't come soon enough

  3. Well Chevy completely cut them off. After they had the pit crew injury a Toyota pit crew member came to fill in

  4. I really enjoyed ur video so far! Tbh I don’t like the name change to “Legacy Motorclub” sounds cringe! I reckon “Richard Petty Motorsports@ sounds better!

  5. What's sad is, is that Jones is very talented and doesn't deserve these crappy cars, and Gragson has alot more potential then what the 42 has.

  6. Wheatever they were doing last year?? Yeah umm do that! Cause this years recipe for success sucks…. Idc what Jimmie says!

  7. I feel more bad for Noah Gragson. He was on a A tier team in the Xfinity Series then gets his first full time Cup Series ride at Legacy Motor Club which is a D-Tier team. Anybody remember how great and talented he was in the Xfinity Series? He wins several races a year and comes to close to winning the championship and for some reason gets promoted to this team in the Cup Series. I said it the moment i found out he would would be driving the 42… I said "What a waste of talent, he should have been promoted to a better team, he deserves it!"

I hope bigger teams in the Cup Series doesn't see this as him being a bad driver and notice he does whatever he can considering what team he is driving for and hire him. He shouldn't be at LMC. The only big team I know as of now that will have a available spot next year is Stewart-Haas Racing. I know Berry was promoted to the 4 (at least i believe so), but the 10 should be available right? I know it's a Ford team but what else can Gragson do at this point? He can't waste his talent away at LMC.

  8. i feel like them announcing the move to Toyota before the halfway point on the season is bad for them too im sure chevy has cut back a lot of manufacture support now since they announced it before the end of season so thats a hole they're in now for sure!

  9. IMO Legacy is going to merge with 23XII in a few years to make second a full Toyota racing team.

  10. Jimmie Johnson Won 7 Championships For Chevrolet And Won More Than 80 Races For Them And This Is How Chevrolet Thanks Him 😏

  11. The best highlight LMC has this year is Noah getting punched by Ross

I hope they can do better once NBC takes over

  12. Any Future Nascar Drivers Should Take Note, Don't Get Greedy For Race Wins And Championships And For Money Because When It's All Set And Done You're Just Another Statistic That Everybody Will Forget Once You're Old, I Mean Look At How Chevrolet Is Thanking Jimmie Johnson, Who Would've Thought This While He Was Winning Races And Championships,So If You Wanna Be A Racecar Driver Just Do It For Fun And Passion, I'm Not Saying Don't Win Races And Championships, But If You Think Winning All There Is Makes You Immune You're Wrong, I Mean Look What Happened To Kyle Busch Now Jimmie Johnson,At The End Of The Day Race For Passion And For Fun Being Greedy Doesn't Pay Out On The Long Run, I Mean Look At Kyle Busch After All He's Done For Toyota He's Now Driving For A B Tier Team 😂

  13. Jimmie Johnson has been awful this year? When he can actually drive the car for a few laps he goes forward. The Daytona 500 he was doing great until the pile up. Cota got screwed. The Coca Cola 600 he was moving forward fast till he spun and broke because he spun which is bs. So he hasn’t been awful just bad circumstances.

  14. Toyota is gonna give them one helluva boost and be contenders. The 42, 43 and 84 are gonna look good under the Toyota Banner.

  15. And now Gragson can't even race Sonoma now. The script writers must be Petty fans, because my god they just won't let it end

  16. Jimmie Johnson screwed up this team right when they were improving and finding their identity.

Pushing Richard Petty aside and joining Toyota just screams *cursed* NASCAR decision!

  17. Im sure they will get better in time, and this is Jimmie's first year as a co- owner, give him a break

  18. We thought they were going to take a step up in performance from Legacy, but now it's back to the struggle years like it's still Petty Enterprises, but I think Jimmie Johnson has not been focused on the team while he's been focused on the Garage 56 drive, and now Chevrolet is allowing Jimmie to leave for a Japanese automaker again (he drove Hondas in Indycar and LMC is switching to Toyota next season)

  19. I think that the switch to Toyota will benefit Legacy, because it will make them one of three teams in the Toyota Racing Development program instead of yet another Chevrolet team, which means more manufacturer support, since next year Toyota will have 8 full-time, chartered, cars with the 11, 19, 20 and 54 cars for Joe Gibbs Racing, the 23 and 45 of 23XI and now the 42 and 43 of LMC, ten cars if you include the 67 car from 23XI and the 84 car from LMC (all though it seems like the 67 car from 23XI is Toyota's "Star Car" as Travis Pastrana drove that car at Daytona and Kamui Kobayashi is going to drive it at the IMS road course)

  20. "Not much better than when he left"?

Nah, Johnson at least finished his caret in 2020 in with a top 5. Since coming back he's run 3 races and placed dead last twice, and hasn't finished even one of them
