Rory McIlroy says he feels for those who rejected approaches from LIV golf and took the “massive decision” to stick with the PGA tour.
The PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf stunned the sporting world by announcing they are merging to form “a new collectively owned” entity.
The shock announcement comes after a year of unprecedented disruption in the men’s professional game following the launch of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf circuit.

It makes me sad that Rory and the other guys from PGA who stayed loyal lost out.

Why should McIlroy or any other player who stayed with the PGA be compensated? McILroy in his own words says he was never offered a contract, As for those who were offered they made the decision to stay, wrong choice. For the LIV players who signed the contracts they made the correct decision and they should not be fined, not their fault the merger occurred.

Not a LIV fan but you have to admit that PGATour purses are way, way up as a result of LIV. That's some compensation right there. Also, why isn't Greg Norman doing a victory dance? I doubt that this is good news for LIV.

A distinction without a difference Rory. This guy is in denial about the situation or is just not being honest to himself and the public. This may be for the betterment of golf in the short-term financially but a Saudi blood-money infusion has now damaged the image of the PGA tour in a way that I don't think it will REALLY recover from. Unless their only definition of "betterment" is financial betterment. But because of this, the American patriotic element attached to golf is now gone. The Ryder Cup, The Presidents Cup and the US Open in particular will not have the same meaning. The PGA tour may benefit more financially from this relationship with the Saudi blood-money/sports-washing… but the PGA tour as a brand is likely damaged beyond repair because of this. If I am an American, flag-waiving PGA golfer this must be heart-breaking and unbareable regardless of how the $$$ pot increases.
