Chris Simms’ Top 40 QB Countdown: No. 11 Daniel Jones | Chris Simms Unbuttoned | NFL on NBC

Chris Simms explains to Ahmed Fareed that Daniel Jones is ranked No. 11 in his top 40 QB rankings because the New York Giants signal caller did “more with less” as much as anyone in football last season. #NBCSports #ChrisSimmsUnbuttoned #DanielJones

  1. Lol, Simms put DJ at 11 ahead of Dak Prescott who beat DJ twice, finished with a better record, etc. Simms just keeps showing how utterly irrelevant he really is, a shadow in his father’s footsteps who could never rise to that greatness.

  2. Hold up mr. Kellen Mond Daniel Jones should not be ahead of justin fields you're just pick who you like at this point trash list

  3. You Giants homers are smokin!!! You just paid 40mil a year for 16 touchdowns in 17 games 🤦‍♂️. The worst thing for the giants happened last year. Make the playoffs and crate false hope. Check. Have a low draft pick that won’t help you get better at the game’s most important position. Check. Be forced to pay DJ 40 mil a year for 4 years. Check. Lose Saquon the real engine of the team after next year. Check. 2024 is gonna be really really bad for the giants.

  4. If you really look at DJ ‘s numbers with his receivers injuries this year . He had his best year with a o-line that had its up and downs also . I think the giants have improved their weapons . Hopefully we can stay healthy . It cracks me up people poke fun of him tripping after a 80 yard run . How many QB’s have 80 yard runs not many I can tell you .

  5. This guy simms makes me laugh really Daniel Jones is at number 11 really this dude must be on something number 11 is two high atleast 16 are 18 but 11 Daniel Jones is a good qb but not top 5

  6. Jones will have another improved season, with a better O Line, and weapon this year, and be in the top 5. Go look at Jalen Hurts numbers last year this time after a 9-7 playoff appearance. Then he got AJ Brown, a elite defensive, and second year with the same coaching. Jones will be even better, I hope they he gets DHop, and or Hyatt has a great rookie year.

  7. I was thinking the same thing for his Ceiling like 7 I have been saying the same thing about Jones for a couple years now and made the same comparison between him and Hurts in the rushing department the numbers were similar and Jones had a higher completion percentage the other passing numbers were very close and yet everyone loves Hurts saying how great he is and how bad Jones is Oh DJ only had 15 TDs he sucks but Hurts only had 22 and Hurts had 2 pro bowl caliber WRs a Pro bowl TE and the best Oline in football to go along with the #1 defense in the NFL Jones had none of that in fact he had one of the worst WRs cores creating 0 separation a bottom 3rd Oline and a mid level defense yet he Avg more yards per carry and a higher completion percentage even with WRs near the top on the NFL in drops passing yards and TDs were close also look I tell people if you want to see how well Jones can throw the ball look at his rookie year 3027 yards 62% 24 Tds 12 Ints in 12 games was 1 TD shy of the rookie record and set a rookie met for most 300+ passing games with 3+ TDs and 0 Ints in Pat Shurmur's offense which he was drafted to fit with limited Saquon and Golden Tate as his best WR the big question was can he cut down the fumbles which he has done he has not been able to show what he was capable of doing throwing the ball under Judge because the offensive system was bad and he had no talent around him almost no Saquon and one of the worst if not the worst O line and no WR help closes thing to a weapon he had in the passing game was Engram who couldn't catch the ball I am not a die hard Daniel Jones supporter but I am not a hater either I try to be fair I would have been fine moving on from him this off season I do not see any elite traits but he is good to very good at almost every aspect he is very athletic give him the right offense and the pieces around him and he can win games

  8. High level thrower of the football. That very same preseason/trainig camp he was the most inaccurate qb and people were making fun of him. Credit needs to go to Dabol. He was coddle/sheltered. Simms is what we call a nincompoop and a very poor evaluator of qbs despite his background. These guy do very little to zero research and spew nonsense. Wish people just boycott this buffoon.

  9. How do y’all listen to this man talk? This breakdown is trash 😂

  10. Dude got paid off of 2 good games against one of the worst defenses ever this guy is maybe pushing for top 15 maybe

  11. Danny Dimes haters forget that he’s had 3 offenses in four years, and Joe Judge was for two of them. He didn’t throw a lot of touchdowns or deep balls bc our only field stretcher was slayton, who was looking like he was going to be cut before last season. He and Saquon quite literally brought the Giants to their first playoff win in years with the same box of scraps that only won 4 games in the past seasons.

  12. Jones has NEVER had decent let alone good receivers. Starting at Duke where he had incompetent receivers to having to deal with the likes of Galladay. On top of all this is a pathetic Oline which is only now beginning to come together. I don’t need my QB to be entertaining or exciting.

  13. Thank you for finally giving DJ his props. If you don’t watch the film of course you’re gonna say he’s bad.

  14. Right but Fields in the same circumstances didn’t get nearly the same praise 😂

  15. Dear lord…..can you please proof read graphics that you put on the screen 😂😂😂……Matt breida a tight end? Mike gesicki on the Giants? Yikes, very unprofessional lol

  16. DJ is deserving of everything you say about him. and he just keeps getting better.
last year : better feel for the pocket, better whole field awareness of his receivers.
and whether forced out of the pocket, or designed rollout, he's making good throws
on the run (which had not been true). even fewer mistakes. more poise.
the precision passing is remarkable. when darius slayton was getting open and holding
onto the ball his rookie year, Jones showed he can throw deep, given a little more protection
and faster adept receivers. he also has a remarkable ability to build rapor with receivers.
he comes across a little goofy in front of a microphone, and had to make progress in a number
of ways over the course of his career so far, so that people are criticising him for earlier years,
not his current play. i think it's too early to say what his ceiling might be. as usual during the off season and in OTAs he is working like crazy to maximize his performance and gel with his
offensive players, working on the dead ball snap with Schmitz, putting in extra work
with Jalen Hyatt. Also, at critical points in games last year, where the Giants had to score,
he came thru with a number of critical drives, on foot and in the air.

  17. Dj is going to put up monster numbers this year. He can legit depend on Waller to get open every time.

  18. Everyone hating in the contract but gonna be going crazy in 4 years when he's a top 10 qb making only like 20 million

  19. Nicely done Chris.. As always totally objective. 💪.. Hel stop being underrated this season tho everyone will give the coaches and players credit… Everyone but him God forbid a person changes their opinion on something they might explode.
