IT BROKE…

This is what happened…I’m sure it’ll be resolved quick and I hear good things about evil and their warranty. I just had to speak openly about it like I promised I would on this journey I’m on to try different bikes. Make sure you like the video, comment and subscribe to stay tuned for more. Cheers

  1. I ride evil for 3 years now, i do big freeride, jumps and tricks. My bike has take some really big hits, never broke it

  2. This is really important for consumers to know.. ever if warranty is ”great”, if it breaks on a trip that one has saved up for long term etc.. thank you Lewis

  3. Cheers Lew Dawg!
As you say – just glad it didn’t happen landing off a huge launch and you’re safe and still in one piece!

  4. Not sure bout other companies but GIANT calls warranty claims JRA.
    Just Riding Along

  5. I dont want to ride a bike where Im wondering if the frame is gonna snap at any moment.

  6. Ex-Evil-Customer from germany here✌

My Evil Wreckoning V3 showed some cracks on the rear triangle (bottom near the seatstay) after 8months of riding (And I wasnt bashing it like the pros). The cracks were not bcs of an impact but bcs of the forces going through the frame. Ive seen similar cases during some forums.
Customer-Service: I've waited for around 2-3 weeks until they finally told me what to do with my broken frame (They first said i should wait for the new one to arrive. I did. It didnt arrive. Then they told me to first ship it). After that I shipped my frame and waited another 3 weeks. Still no new frame even though they assured it to me.

At last my seller decided to take a rear triangle from one of his in-the-shop-evils apart and give that to me until he got the new rear triangle from evil directly.

So: I couldnt ride the bike for around 6 weeks and if my seller wouldnt have been so kind I would have waited even longer. Just fyi. Bike rode like a dream but that experience drove me away from evil.

  7. I was going to suggest looking at alloy frames from UK brands airdrop and bird. Bird do a 180mm 29er in a lovely blue/purple colour( blurple) 180front 160mm rear but 180mm with a different rear linkage and at a respectable price too. Their customer service is fantastic. Slacker looks nice too though.

  8. What a heap of shit!
Definitely lucky you weren't doing anything serious at speed.
Loving this latest series of vids mate, keep it up👍

  9. evil had a huge quality issue during the pandemic and had a lot of failures in the Wrecker and Insurg. frames but they are crazy awesome to deal with. I have a Offering and I have had no issues and I launch that thing crazy big with no issues.

  10. It's a shame. I don't see myself ever riding a carbon frame, but I've always considered Evil frames to be extremely cool. Which they probably are, but what good does it do if they crack.

  11. Carbon fiber should be illegal on mountain bikes, especially advanced riding, it's an overpriced gimmick.

  12. everybody i know who bought an evil frame for a monstrous amount of money, broke it shortly after buying it. and the bad thing is…. not even jumping heavy. it broke just on a harsh compression. you would never expect a bike to break on a compression. stupid

  13. I've had 2 Transition Patrols carbon and both cracked in the same place. If you look at all brands they will have issues. Wish this wasn't the case.

  14. I had one it rode really well but cracked three rear triangles I made a toilet roll holder out of one 👍

  15. Nice to see you being open and decent about the breakage mate, it happens I suppose, but reading the comments maybe a little too frequently. Luckily for you it wasn't while going large where it could have caused you damage. You didn't get 'fitted' while you were at Dyfi by any chance 😉

  16. TBH I wasn't keen on the whole OF sponsorship thing but I love what it has enabled you to do. Honest, unbiased reviews of self-purchased bikes without sponsor interference are a breath of fresh air which many riders will appreciate. This has massive potential and I'm sure your channel will grow as a result, hopefully this will open the door for other riders to do the same too!

  17. Fair play. Sorry to hear it happened. But as you say you don't hear alot about other brands snapping because of rider contracts. Let be honest evil aren't alone here. Trek , orbea, nukeproof they all have snapping frame be it carbon or Alu. Personal I had a wreckoning v1.5 for 3 years no cracking and still going strong with the next owner. And my current wreckoning v3 no problems 2 years on . I'd love to see where it cracked. And fair play again.

  18. Tbh I didn't want to be negative leaving a comment on the earlier video on this especially as there was a few already but all I've ever heard about these is bad news

  19. It’s is a really cool bike but the frames need to be sorted out. You should eventually get on a we are one arrival, I’ve been on my for about a year best bike I’ve ever ridden and I’ve been on a lot of bikes

  20. I really respect your honesty, at least your airdrop has been built looks well nice with the chrome rocker. It’s just one of them things buddy. Respect. Please try a ns fuzz . Then I’m not the only dude with one . 🤘🤘👍

  21. Quality control and manufacturing has to be better. Sadly this is a common issue with most brands. Even design flaws. But too little info on most bikes.
Bad tolerances, voids resulting in snapped frames, bottom bracket misaligned, not being round, under and oversized. Welded frames that crack in welds, the commencal Supreme suffered from this frames developing cracks and snapping in half.
    On Hambini i saw:
Many frames had bad tolernace in BB shell, BMC, Dolan even had loose fibers, fuji carbon frame had oversized bb shell, not aligned, Kingdom Titanium frame with not faced, looked horribel, but video was removed. I rember a Trek Domane I think it was had deformed bb shell, welded badly. Usually trek don't have crazy bad welding liek this but that frma ewas so ba dit could not be fixed nor possible to install a bb at all. There are more. There are more.

  22. For the premium price you pay, you should be getting a good quality carbon frame. Evil Bikes are just as expensive as Santa Cruz.

  23. I’ve demoed a few evils and they ride phenomenally! It’s a shame they’re unreliable 🙁

  24. I was lucky/unlucky enough to have owned one of their undead frames. Looked great, rode amazingly but when there were issues with it Evil didn’t want to know.

Their customer services from my point of view are less than bad. Boutique bike, boutique prices but with all the back up of a used seatbelt seller
