The history of The Open Championship is steeped with the glory and successes of players from The United States of America.
Following the boom period of American players entering The Open during the 1950s and 1960s, the global popularity of the world’s oldest golf tournament continued to grow, with more American athletes competing on British shores.
Since the 1980’s over 15 American golfers have lifted the Claret Jug, including; Tom Watson, Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth. The stories and personalities are what draw the eyes of the world to The Open, but it’s the golfing talent of these American stars that makes history.
We celebrate these fantastic players from across the pond in our latest edition of ‘Open Around The World: USA Part 2’.
