Former Chelsea, Leeds and Atletico Madrid striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is in advanced talks with FA bosses over a deal to join Gareth Southgate’s coaching staff in charge of the England men’s team.

He is set to replace Chris Powell, who has came to the end of his agreed cycle after the World Cup, and his contract has expired.

Hasselbaink, who won 23 caps for the Netherlands and scored nine international goals, has been out of work since resigning as Burton Albion manager last September.

  1. Yeah that might be a great addition to England coaching staff but maybe Gareth Southgate might now be the problem

  2. Even better news was to announce Serena Weigman was to coach the England men alongside the women after the World Cup in July.

  3. Sad news about Powell but JFH Joining would be a huge Asset as an attacking coach would be very good he knew how to score goals

  4. I hope they try playing 5 at the back. It didn’t work in every single other experiment, but let’s try it again and see if we get a different result. Let’s never drop Kane and only pick Maguire at cb.
Then scratch our heads when it doesn’t work. Again.

  5. Good luck Chris Powell.

‪So as part of the BAME scheme – the FA are more or less saying – one in and one out. This is institutional racism. It should always be the best man/women for the job. This is embarrassing. So in order for a black man to progress in 2023 – he has to be part of a scheme. ‬
