Wright Thompson joins the Dan Patrick Show to discuss how the “who is the GOAT QB” conversation and the arguments about Joe Montana vs Tom Brady have impacted Montana

  1. Football to me goes be era's and some QB were so good in my eyes but not in others who made me get excited that I was going to get to watch them to me that QB was the Snake

  2. There are lots of "Greatest of Now" QBs. And there are GOATS that have to pass the mantle. Johnny U to Bradshaw to Montana to Brady. The eyeball test is too subjective. When somebody beats Brady's numbers, and I mean WINS at every level, they will be the GOAT. Of course keep politicking Brady away because his numbers seem insurmountable. BTW personal life is NOT part of the GOAT discussion.

  3. Wtf is the discussion? I’m so confused. Why are people spending so much energy on this topic? What a waste of time but do you

  4. Who understands this interpretation? Everyone has chosen the sport with all the risks of being injured. Stop it sooner or later. It's hard but true. I don't think personal things belong in this GOAT discussion. Let's talk facts. Tom Brady is not responsible for how Montana feels and want to hear.
These discussions are driven by the public the media and Talk shows like this.
Just look at the publications, comments and interviews regarding GOAT. This was an issue long before Tom Brady announced his retirement.

  5. what is this garbage? so we are supposed to feel bad for him because he is a narcissist who can't accept that someone is greater than him instead of being gracious? listen to tom brady. he never wanted the title of GOAT, and still doesn't. he has always praised those before him in public and private. this is just ugly from joe montana. this article talks about him rooting against tom brady and referring to him as "the guy from tampa bay" despite tom being nothing but gracious towards him. such a pathetic way for an all-time great to go out…

  6. No one’s better than Brady was. I’ll revisit this statement in 15 years if Patrick keeps it up AT LEAST that much longer and wins another 6+ rings

  7. So this is a way for joe montana to being a relevant again ? By bashing tom brady ? Very cheap. This narrative of joe didn’t like brady came out after his retirement is just a way for how they seling a story like why not telling it before or even when he winning his 7th. People mention tom brady in whatever case they were doing to get people attention lol. Cs they knew he gonna withdraw viewers.😒

And the upbringing of joe getting injured & number of surgery he had give me a break. How are we gonna supposed to react ? Crying & pleased about it ? And say “ omg poor joe he’ll be the greatest bcs of that” 🤣😬 I bet all of fotball players is dealing with injury. Brady also had some of injury in his carrers & (maybe some of them he never talks abt it) but he also take care of himself better than everybody so that’s why he has a longevity.

  9. WHY TOM BRADY TB12 IS THE GOAT/BOAT OF ALL TIME! – EPISODE II

TOM BRADY TB12 THE GOAT/BOAT vs billybob – PART I

    1. Bill Belichick is 71-79 (47.3%) in the regular season as a head coach without Tom Brady and 219-64 (77.4%) with Tom Brady

    2. Bill Belichick is 1-2 (33.3%) in the playoffs as a head coach without Tom Brady and is 30-11(73.2%) in the playoffs with Tom Brady

    3. Bernie Kosar, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe, Matt Cassell, Jimmy Garroppolo, and Cam Newton have a COMBINED 11 Pro Bowl selections, 16 playoff appearances, 6 conference championship game appearances, and 3 Super Bowl appearances with 8 different head coaches in their careers. Those same 6 quarterbacks have made a TOTAL of 0 Pro Bowls, 1 playoff appearance, and 0 conference championship game appearances with Belichick as their head coach

    4. Belichick has 9 full seasons as a head coach without Brady under his belt. In those 9 seasons without Brady, he has failed to make the playoffs 7 times with 6 losing seasons

    5. Belichick was fired from the Cleveland Browns prior to the 1996 NFL season. The Browns were then promptly relocated to Baltimore where they won a Super Bowl in the 2000 season

    6. Belichick was hired as the Browns head coach prior to the 1991 NFL season. The Browns played in the AFC Championship game in 1986, 1987, and 1989

    7. Belichick is 35-35 (50.0%) as head coach of the Patriots without Tom Brady. He saw an IMMEDIATE 6 win increase and Super Bowl win as soon as Brady became starter in 2001 and saw an IMMEDIATE 5 win dropoff and playoff miss when Brady missed an entire season in 2008. Then he saw another IMMEDIATE 5 win dropoff once Tom Brady left for the Buccaneers in 2020

    8. The 2008 Patriots scored 179 fewer points (11.2 PPG) than their 2007 counterparts and Matt Cassell threw for 1,113 fewer yards, 29 fewer touchdowns, 4 more interceptions, and had a 27.8 decrease in passer rating from Tom Brady in 2007 with the only subtractions from the team being Asante Samuel and Tom Brady. The 2008 Patriots also had the 5th easiest SOS and were 2-4 against playoff teams while still missing the playoffs. The 2007 Patriots had the 8th hardest SOS while being 6-0 against playoff teams in the regular season

    9. Drew Bledsoe made the Pro Bowl with 3 different head coaches, but couldn't with Belichick. Drew Bledsoe also threw for 3,691 yards in 18 games with Belichick, but the moment he goes to Buffalo, he throws for 4,354 yards while posting a better record (being a win away from making the playoffs) and making the Pro Bowl

    10. Pete Carroll took the Patriots under Drew Bledsoe to the playoffs twice while Belichick could not do it in his season with Bledsoe. In his 3 seasons as the Patriots head coach, Pete Carroll went 27-21 with 2 playoff appearances and 0 losing seasons

    11. In his 6 years as a head coach before 2001, Bill Belichick had never had a top 10 ranked scoring offense. The Patriots offense ranked 25th in 2000 with Drew Bledsoe at quarterback. In 2001, Tom Brady's first year as a starter, the Patriots ranked 6th in scoring offense

    12. Drew Bledsoe has had 10 career 40+ point games in his career, with 3 different teams and 3 different head coaches. His highest point total under Bill Belichick was 30 points which was achieved just once in 18 games

    13. Drew Bledsoe's worst career record of 5-11 was achieved with Bill Belichick as head coach. Bledsoe has produced a better record with every other head coach and team he's ever played for, including the Buffalo Bills

    14. Vinny Testaverde's best season under Bill Belichick was in 1995 when he threw for 2,887 yards and 17 touchdowns. The very next season Bill Belichick was fired and Testaverde threw for 4,177 yards and 33 touchdowns while making the Pro Bowl under interim head coach Ted Marchibroda. Testaverde now sits at all time in passing yards and and all time in passing touchdowns. He has 7 seasons that are better than his best season with Belichick

    15. The Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis from 2000-2004, produced 3 top 10 scoring offenses in 4 seasons with Brady as his starting quarterback. Without Brady, he has only produced 1 top 10 scoring offense in 5 seasons

    16. Josh McDaniels who was the Patriots offensive coordinator from 2006-2008, and then from 2012-2021, has had a top 10 scoring offense every single year Brady has been his starting quarterback. McDaniels left to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2009-2010. In those two seasons, his scoring offense ranked 20th and 19th respectively. McDaniels was then fired and became the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams in 2011 where his scoring offense ranked 32nd among teams

    17. Bill O'Brien became the Patriots offensive coordinator in 2011 where he had the #3 scoring offense in the league. He then went on to be the head coach of the Houston Texans, where, in 6 seasons with the team, he never produced 1 top 10 scoring offense, even with players like Deshaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins

    18. Before Tom Brady, Bill Belichick had never coached a team with either 4,000 passing yards or 30 passing touchdowns in a season. In fact, he didn't do it when Tom Brady missed an entire season in 2008 or in 2020 after Brady left via free agent one year following Tom Brady throwing for over 4,000 yards at 42 years old

    19. Bill Belichick fully expected to be fired in the 2001 season before the Drew Bledsoe injury. According to Charlie Weis, Belichick called him on the phone and told him to put his house up for sale because he didn't think they were going to last too much longer. According to a Jets coach, in week 2 Belichick and Charlie Weis were talking to them before the game and were saying "We're going to get fired". The Jets coach then detailed how Belichick told them how they didn't want Bledsoe, but he was a big locker room presence

    20. Bill Belichick had 3 quarterbacks to start under him that were drafted 1st overall in their respective drafts. Bill Belichick has gone 16-15 with Vinny Testaverde (drafted 1st overall in 1987 NFL draft), 5-13 with Drew Bledsoe (drafted 1st overall in 1993 NFL draft), and 7-8 with Cam Newton (drafted 1st overall in 2011 NFL draft) for a COMBINED record of 28 -36 (43.8%) with 1st overall draft picks at quarterback

    21. Bill Belichick has gone 14-21 (40.0%) with quarterbacks that have gone on to make the Super Bowl with another head coach. Bill Belichick has gone 5-13 with Drew Bledsoe who made the Super Bowl in 1996 with Bill Parcels as head coach, 2-0 with Jimmy Garroppolo who made the Super Bowl in 2019 with Kyle Shanahan as head coach, and 7-8 with Cam Newton, who made the Super Bowl in 2015 with Ron Rivera as head coach.

    22. In 2016, when Tom Brady missed 4 games due to suspension, the Patriots went 3-1 with Jimmy Garroppolo and then Jacoby Brissett at quarterbacks. In those 4 games, the Patriots played 2 games against teams who finished the season with losing records, 3 games at home, and they were shut out 16-0 to a Buffalo Bills team at home whom Brady put up 41 points against 4 weeks later on the road. The best team the Patriots played in those 4 games were the Houston Texans, who had 16 touchdowns to 17 interceptions on the season and had the same number of fumbles lost as rushing touchdowns. Jacoby Brissett threw a grand total of 0 touchdown passes in 10 quarters played during that 4 game stretch

    23. Art Modell is 305-253-8 (54.7%), with 18 playoff appearances, 8 conference championship game appearances, a NFL championship (1964), and a Super Bowl championship (2000) as a NFL owner in games Bill Belichick was not his head coach. Robert Kraft is 35-35 (50.0%) with 1 playoff appearance in 4 FULL seasons with a Bradyless Bill Belichick as his head coach

    25. In 18 seasons with Tom Brady as his starting quarterback, Bill Belichick won his division 17 times. In 9 seasons without Tom Brady as his starting quarterback, Bill Belichick won his division 0 times

    Look/Search – Footballoutsiders stats Nfl team-efficiency 2020

2001: The offense went from 25th in 2000 to 6th in scoring offense

2003: The defense allowed 29 points to Jake Delhomme and the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl

2004:The only time the defense legitimately can claim credit for winning the Super Bowl

2007: The defense gives up the David Tyree catch in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl after Tom Brady took the lead

2011: Tom Brady's worst defense in his career

2014: Tom Brady came back from the largest deficit (at the time) in Super Bowl history against the legion of boom throwing 2 touchdown passes in the 4th quarter

2016: Tom Brady came back from down 28-3 in the Super Bowl while playing a perfect 2nd half

2017: The defense allows 41 points to Nick Foles

2018: The defense allowed 29.5 PPG through the first 2 rounds of the playoffs and it took Tom Brady averaging 34 PPG through the first 2 rounds to even make the Super Bowl

if the defense was the reason for half the wins? Then how does Brady have 5 Superbowl MVP's 1 Edelman 1 Branch. Maybe of Brady's 2 Superbowls the defense was probably the main reason they won. Maybe 2 Superbowls, with a ratio of (60%def-40%off.). However even then Brady has 6 game winning drives in the 4th quarter or OT in ALL Superbowl wins. That's all time ALL TIME clutch. If you want to get technical he got the lead or tie late in the 4th quarter of ALMOST EVERY SUPERBOWL he played in. 9 of 10!!

  11. WHY TOM BRADY TB12 IS THE GOAT/BOAT OF ALL TIME! – EPISODE IV

TOM BRADY TB12 THE GOAT/BOAT vs billybob PART III & Some examples of TB12 GOAT BOAT GREATNESS!

    10) 2009 Vs Titans – no explanation needed, 5 TDs in a quarter

    9) 2018 AFCCG vs Chiefs – put up 37 points on the road, won in OT converting three 3rd and 10s in a row to make sure Mahomes never touched the ball

    8) 2013 vs Broncos – one thing the video doesn’t convey; Brady was not he reason they were down 24-0. He ended up with 344 yards, 3 TDs, no picks

    7) SB 52 vs Eagles – playoff record 505 yards and 3 TDs, most points ever scored by a team that lost the SB

    6) 2011 divisional vs Broncos – tied the postseason TD record with 6…..and he did it with 27 minutes left in the game

    5) 2017 VS Texans – 378 yards 5 TDs, the last TD came with 23 seconds remaining to win the game 36-33

    4) Pats Ravens 2014 Divisonal – 367 yards, 3 TDs plus a rushing TD. Pats were down by 14 at two different points of the game, Brady threw an absolute dime of a TD to take the lead for good in the 4th quarter. The pats didn’t attempt a run in the second half. Brady absolutely carried them

    3) SB 38 vs Panthers – had an 11 point lead in the 4th quarter, but the defense couldn’t hold up and Brady had to retake it two more times

    2) SB 49 vs Seahawks – greatest 4th quarter in SB history. 13/15 for 124 yards and 2 TDs against a team that had allowed 10 points in its last eight 4th quarters combined

    1) SB 51 vs Falcons – I mean how do you argue against it. Every good qb has games where they put up monster numbers. There’s never been another SB performance like this

Honorable mention to 2007 divisional game (playoff record completion rate 92.8%, 3 TDs no picks), SB 39 (110 rating with 2 TDs and no picks, and his third game winning drive in the SB), his two perfect passer rating games, 517 yard game against the phins

Aaron Rodgers is 0-42 when trailing by more than one point in the fourth quarter to a team with a winning record(.500+)

    Let that sink in.

Did you know: If you took away all the playoff TD passes that Tom Brady has to Moss, Gronk, Branch, Edelman, Welker, Hogan & Amendola…

Brady would still have the most playoff TD passes in history.

Brady has 80. Removing all those guys puts him at 46. Rodgers & Montana are 2nd with 45.

18%. Just think in 2000 years unless he’s still playing, it will be under 1%.

That’s something Brady haters can wait for.

Tom Brady now has more super bowl appearances than Phillip Rivers has children.

Patriots before Brady 5-11 first year with Brady super bowl

Tampa before Brady 7-9 first year with Brady super bowl

Bill Belichick has had 4 pro bowl quarterbacks thru his head coaching career. Vinny Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe, Cam Newton, and Tom Brady. He’s 48-64 with the 3 other quarterbacks not named Tom Brady. Bill should have gotten on his knees to beg Brady to stay.

Brady was great in Michigan. He was already the Comeback kid in college. Belichick is a defensive coordinator turned coach. He doesn't work with the offense.

Belichick should kiss the ground Brady walked on for saving his job in New England. There's also the fact that Brady took paycuts for YEARS to keep quality players around him. What did Belichick do? Spend their capital on defense. Brady consistently had to play with under-sized, under-utilized receivers. Remember how everyone has always said Brady could pull people off the street and turn them into Wide Receiving superstars? That's not Belichick…

You can't give Belichick credit for developing Brady when he wins the Superbowl in his first year. 3 out of 4 in his first four years. He's got no time to develop Brady. He came straight from two championship years in college.

People makes too many dumb comments to even take him seriously…Bill Belichick can teach a 6th round draft choice how to win but can't figure out how to win with All Pro 100 million dollar quarterback Drew Bledsoe…it's obvious he paid someone to take his exams for him in college.

Not only did Brady work wonders at Michigan, but Bledsoe led pats were 0-4 when Brady took over. They would not lose another game that year. Matt Casell had the exact same roster as Brady had in 07, didn't even make the playoffs. Oh, and we are going to forget how Belichick almighty defense fell apart in those 3 superbowl loses, especially when he SAT MALCOLM BUTLER? Brady was team first always. But if you are going to replace Tom, you have to beat him for his spot. He said that over a decade ago. Belichick tried to put in Jimmy when Jimmy couldn't take Brady's spot. AFTER Belichick hung Brady out to dry over deflategate. So no. At the end of the Day, It was the G.O.A.T. and a good head coach. But the Patriot way was built on Brady not Belichick.

Belichick without Brady 51-65. Brady without Belichick 11-5 with a Superbowl.

You can't claim Mozart was great because of his teacher.

Patriots SPENT ALL resources they had every year on D… they always ignored offense… yet Brady ALWAYS had a top 2 offense with a coach that ignored offense…

What coach couldn't get consistent top 10 Ds with all resources spent on D..

    What a joke

    Belichick with Brady… 17/18 DIVISION TITLES…

    BELICHICK without Brady… 0/8 DIVISION TITLES…

bro not just that… but versus Giants in the Superbowl Patriots were winning 7-3 in the 3rd qtr… in FG range on a 4th and 13, and Bill against the best PASS DEFENSE in NFL went for 4th and 13 instead of taking the 3.. to go up 10-3… giving a 7 point lead.. I remember at the time, thinking that is the stupidest decision I've EVER SEEN any COACH make, yet Nobody Talks about it EVER!

    meanwhile the final score??

    A 3 point loss!!

The field goal he turned down!

bill had a losing record as a head coach till be got Brady

Been a Patriots fan since the early 70's and have seen almost every game. Here are the cold hard facts. Belichick has coached 8 full years (and Brady's 4 game suspension in 2015) without Brady as starting QB. 5 with the Browns and 3 with the Patriots (2000, 2008 and 2020). During that time he made it to 1 playoff and had 2 winning seasons. His record without Brady is 62 wins, 70 losses. That's not a small sample size. The bottom line is that without Brady, Belichick is a losing coach.

Tom Brady is the guy who kept those teams together and made the thing work. As Danny Amendola recently pointed out, this "Patriot way" horseshit was Tom Brady-period. Players respected Belichick but have never liked him. Free agents came to play with Tom Brady-not Belichick. Belichick is arrogant, inflexible and overrated.

Without Brady, Belichick will never win another Super Bowl in the foreseeable future. Every year that the Patriots continue to lose Belichick's legacy will continue to diminish.

So Belichick almost invested 300 MILLION IN 2020 When Brady went to Tampa Bay, AN NFL RECORD, WHY?

BECAUSE HE IS SO GOOD? WHAT DID Belichick WHEN THE TB12 GOAT BOAT WAS THERE? NOTHING! NIENTE! NADA!

BILL PARCELLS STARTED THE PATRIOT WAY NOT Belichick!

Teddy Bruschi, Willie McGinest, Ty Law, Troy Brown and that original core of players that won in 2000 (that was mostly put together by Bill Parcells thru the draft).

And by the time Amendola got there, the Patriots Way was definitely Tom Brady as he was the only OG Super Bowl winner from that time, but the mentality was built by that original team, Brady included.

Belichick's drafting has been terrible. No drafted pro bowlers since 2013, and they constantly miss on free agents.

    FOR EXAMPLE:

1 – Manning was not a cold-weather QB. His record when temp was below 40 degrees = 4-17

2 – Out of every single QB who has played in the NFL since 2000, not a single one has more than 2 Super Bowl rings.

3 – Aaron Rodgers 1-42 when down in the 4th quarter against teams with winning records. You want to win blow out pointless games or do you want someone who can fight through adversity and win you rings?

    4 – Tom Brady has 7 RINGS!!!!!!!!!!

See the thing about Brady haters, is the one they try to avoid when talking about Tom Brady is Facts and Numbers. They only want to speak from the standpoint of opinions based on emotions.

In the end you just have to laugh at they're never ending misery and think

Real GOAT on to #8 (WHO KNOWS?

He's played with a broken finger and dislocated shoulder. Brees played with broken ribs and look how the saints looked with that ONE GUY not at 100%.

There's levels to this. Brady is the most renowned QB to do more with less at the receiver position. Making no name receivers look like superstars.

You have 4 chances to beat Jordan in the playoffs. You only have one chance in the NFL. The QB is the captain of the ship and Brady turned a losing franchise into a champion in one year without training camp.

  14. It's odd this story is coming out? TB12 has only shown love, respect and adoration for all players; past, or present. Tom is ETERNAL. We need to stop calling this man livestock. People like Jordan, Brady, Ali are in a different stratosphere. Brady literally played through so many era's. There will never be another…. not like this…. not like him! 💯🔥♾

  15. Dan Patrick's argument in the 1st few seconds of the video punches a massive strike against his take that Lebron is his GOAT in the NBA.

NFL: Montana was the GOAT at 4-0 in superbowls and Brady flew by him with a 7-3 record in championships.

NBA: MJ is the GOAT and Lebron flew by him with a 4-6 record in championships ????!!!! That does NOT add up at all.

You need to win when it matters the most. TB did it. Montana did it. Lebron did not do it.

  16. Complete bullshit. Anything coming out of this guy's mouth right now needs to be non takin seriously.

  17. It's not that Tom won 7. He left New England ,went to Tampa and won a ring. When Joe went to Kansas City, he didn't win a Superbowl.

  18. All but one of Brady's championships were from teams who were caught cheating. All of Montana's are legitimate.
