Shillan & Duffy: UFC Las Vegas Preview

Keith and Ben preview UFC Fight Night 221 “Yan vs. Dvalishvili,” also known as #UFCLasVegas, with detailed predictions and picks for all 14 fights. Sidetrack conversations include American courtroom procedure, 1980s professional wrestling (of course) and Bo Nickal (of course).

NOTE: Ben refers to this event as “UFC Vegas 71” throughout the recording, but the UFC is actually calling it “UFC Las Vegas” in order to distinguish it from the Apex cards.

  1. I thought Fremd actually looked good in the standup against Gore, but he showed low IQ and shot a takedown when his boxing started to take effect.

I'm also a fan of Volkov! He is a terrifying striker, he has just crushing power when he fights to his strengths. This fight totally depends if Romanov can get takedowns or not.
Side note, Romanov reminds me that I wish we saw more of Juan Espino.

  2. Fun fact – Karl Williams in his profile photo is holding an invisible jug of pure ass-whoopin

  3. When evaluating Merab I remember that Moraes almost finished him, a nervous ref would have stopped it. Moraes also was having success with the left hook and calf kick, two things Yan could easily use without gassing after three minutes. With Keith here. See a stoppage win for Yan

  4. @Ben & @Kieth, Most people don't know this but Abubakar last fight was a win since he was coached by his cousin Khabib during the fight. Refer to see last fight, he was on his corner coaching him & he got a UD win. I see him win again if he's still working with his cousin Khabib.

  5. Gotta disagree on one point. Aldo is still a good win. Whether it's in 2022 or not, having the legend as a win on Merabs record is a really good win to have.
