  1. A driven guy.. Enjoyed hearing his stories.
Ive been to Augusta once on a visit with family. I told them I wanted to go see Augusta.. What for? was the Holy Grail of Golf. They said well OK then we'll go see it. They already knew what I was about to see and waited for my expression. Grandmother said well we're here. What? We are here at the Augusta you wanted to see so here it is. I asked Where? RIGHT THERE—>>>> pointing.
There was a Wall of about 15 to 20 feet plus of Green screen which covered the entire course in which you could not see through or around it's completely shut off from the world. Zipp! We drove around the whole fenced off area not one spot can you see in the Joint. Nothing! I was very disappointing to say the least. You can see the guard house thats way up a rising slope thats it.
People that live there in Augusta have never seen the course in their life time. The surrounding area is a depressed population/poor folks crime. From what I hear their trying to buy out the owners of the properties surrounding Augusta. Simply put I guess it's like Disney world of 18 holes.
You'll notice that during the MASTERS the TV cameras never show the surrounding area above the fence line. Completely walled off. Blip views are just strictly the course only. Outside the fence you may see someone being mugged or being shot at.

  2. The "dirty little secret" is Augusta National's relationship with Freemasonry. Their lodge is four miles from the clubhouse. If you look closely of overhead photos of the clubhouse you will see a topiary of the square and compass around the flagpole.

  3. I read his book a few years ago and he comes across extremely down to earth. What a player and a great ambassador for golf.

  4. Up the toffees and Gary Wol !
Acceptance is Gary’s greatest attribute- an amazing ability & a humble genius

  5. Humble yet confident and such a wonderful disposition. You guys gave him just the right amount of space and he wowed us. Cheers

  6. Great podcast. I really enjoy listening to Gary. He really is down to earth and humble and has achieved so much in the game.Being a Leicester lad I can relate to walking to the golf course to practice as he used to do!!And he's very articulate and keeps you interested all the way along 😊⛳⛳

  7. When I saw the title of this video, it seemed clear that it would be about Augusta National's horrible, despicable racism and misogyny. Younger people don't realize that AN only allowed a black golfer to finally play in the Masters in 1975 (Lee Elder), the first black member only in 1990 (Ron Townsend), and the first woman member in 2012 (Condoleezza Rice). So, AN proudly thumbed its white supremacist nose at the world until being dragged, kicking and screaming, into modern society. The shameful stain of inhumane racism shall never be forgiven or forgotten. Perhaps the finest moment at the Masters was in 1997 when young, black Tiger Woods beat the living shit out of the field. He was 12 strokes ahead of 2nd place (Tom Kite).

  8. A great interview is when the interviewer,in this case both, allows the subject to transport their audience to the place they are talking about.

  9. A chance to stay in the crow's nest in you didn't? Oh almost want to shut it off right there

  10. Great time listening in on that one. Almost as nice of a surprise as the time I was eating lunch with a photographer and his crew with the clients and a couple locals joined us who was a super nice guy who brought this suoer nice looking lady who i had met the night before and after having one of the nicest conversations, who let me kid around and poke fun and genuinly enjoyed each other's sense of humors. Turned out that he was Albert Grimaldi…we were eating lunch just a few miles north of Monaco. We were best friends for 5 of the next 12 hours. This was that nice of a surprise. I found out after I got driven back to my hotel after lunch who Albert was. But then they had to tell me what Monaco was. I said, "isn't it pretty much a casino with a nice hotel and marina?" They added "oh and a palace as well u know…". I was 23 and from California

  11. Fantastic interview. I very much enjoy listening to players tell stories and talk about lessons learned as they progressed in the game.

  12. Besides the Tiger Woods match, he also beat top American amateur Anthony Kim in the Sunday singles at the 2007 Walker Cup at Chicago GC. My son and I walked alongside Gary during that match (no ropes) and I was amazed to see someone over 40 years old beating Kim. After a couple of holes, I found myself rooting for Gary to get the win as he played great golf and was a class act on the course (unlike some of the Americans).

  13. Even with me being as big a fan of golf as I am (I still play 3 18 hole rounds a week all walking in under 4 hours at 83 years) I had no intention of watching all of a golf video over one hour long but Gary's stories were so fantastic I could not quit. In my playing I now stick to courses that are around 6,000 yards long and I still have a few pars now and then. I play for the fresh air and exercise and not the score.
