  1. Such a great concept! Sometimes when you see a thumbnail with the good green check vs. the bad red x it can be hard to see the point right away. I saw the over bent right knee at the top of the bad backswing immediately in the thumb nail. That (along with the "hips resisting the shoulders" like you mentioned) is responsible for so many unnecessary injuries and swings that don't flow well.

I like to say if someone is telling me to keep all that right knee flex in the backswing (or to put my left thumb on top of the grip instead of slightly to the right) then I'll tell them "There is a 1970s job opening for a middle-school gym teacher focusing on those old "universal" weightlifting machines with a stool with no back support for doing shoulder presses. There are burgeoning young teenagers you could teach how to ruin their rotator cuffs and injure their backs." I know that was pretty wordy, but that's what the so-called "athletic" golf swing means to me.

I really get a lot out of your videos! Great stuff.

  2. Really interesting comments about the left heel lifting up. I play off a 14 handicap, I have been having frequent lessons for about 3 months now, and I honestly feel like I've barely improved. Better face control but relatively inconsistent contact. The VERY first thing the pro got me to change was my left heel, keeping it planted, instead of my natural tenancy to lift it. I have genuinely lost ball speed, swing speed and distance like that, but my pro says I have a more "conventional" swing now. Driver for example, I was capable of carrying the ball about 270 yards, now its more like 250.Would love to hear your thoughts on this, I'm really enjoying your videos, we share a lot of thoughts about golf! Thanks 👍👍

  3. hay i often have the problem that i often have the weight on the tips of my toes when hitting instead of on the back left on the sole. If I have the weight on the back left of the sole, the clubs are often satisfactory, I often don't know why.

  4. Having played golf for decades, one of the things that always annoyed me was the "resist your hip turn like you are fighting against a powerful spring", that perpetuated in golf instruction (and still does is some circles). Talk about stressing your body when in fact, the golf swing should be anything but that. Nowadays, I just turn the hips and let my arms go along for the ride to keep me connected. The club pro (about my age) wonders why I do that so, I just say to him, "You should be wondering why I am consistently out-driving you!"

  5. Lol I was at Moby Golf Chadwell Heath yesterday and sliding all over the place ! I have slide to right, so trying left shoulder pointing at ball on backswing to try and keep more centred – work in progress!! Here’s for the video, Jon 👍

  6. ..ah ha, now I know why I’ve a strong tendency to slide, hips have no tilt, very good. There seems to be a thousand different things though. What are the three most important I wonder

thank you Jonathon again! Im hoping to send you some videos later in the yr for an online lesson
