You will Never Hit Driver Straight OR Long unless you Stop Doing This!

90% of golfers can’t hit driver straight and struggle to gain any more distance because they keep making the same mistakes. If you have ever wondered how to hit the golf ball straight and far you are in for a treat. Here’s why you might struggle to strike your driver straight and long:

1. You have the hand & ball position in the wrong place
2. You don’t have enough weight on your lead foot at set up – BIG ONE
3. You aren’t creating a simple circle in the golf swing
4. You don’t have control over the club face

What’s great is if you have any one of these faults in your golf swing they are really easy to fix and can make an instant impact on the quality of your ball striking not just with your irons but with your driver too.

For example if you want to hit your driver straight just getting the forearms aligned at address will be a real eye opener for you and if you want to strike your irons perfect simply shifting the swing circle towards the target will instantly improve strike.

ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

  1. Brilliant video thats exactly what I struggle with clearing the way to impact/follow through ie your dad and me being 5ft 6 this will im sure help me massively cheers bud 👍 keep up the good work

  2. Great lesson, I really need to improve my rythm on my driver! I tend to step out of my stance with me left (lead) foot which destroys my drive! I have been turning my lead foot to the left a little which helps! Any advice on learning to not stepping out on my drive?

  3. This is where I’m at with my driver just now. I’ve started hitting much straighter using some of your previous videos as the guide and now I would like to add distance and maintain the accuracy.

Great explanation pure and simple thanks Danny!

  4. Very well explained mate! I actually find swinging with a nice rhythm easier with driver where the ball is teed up high. My rhythm sucks big time hitting a ball from the ground where I can’t get rid of the urge to hit at it.

  5. Great video again Danny a in-depth description of what you did with your dad. The circle analogy definitely shows me where I’ve been swinging and it’s not pretty 😅

  6. Sitting here on a Saturday evening in Brisbane and half-watching the golf from Dubai whilst watching this vid. I’ve rewatched Danny’s instruction a few times now and I can see what he’s getting at whilst watching the Pro’s actually doing it. Off to the range in the morning…..

  7. As you say about the catapult at the bottom of the arch.
You need to do another hybrid update
I’m spraying hybrid and working on the arch and path.

  8. Thank you Danny, "so beautiful & simple", such an easy going lesson! I'm looking forward to putting it into practice, both at the range and with my golf buddies..🏌️‍♂️👍👍👏👏

  9. I didn’t realise I was stalling the follow through until I watched this, it’s off down to the range now to get some practice in. Thanks Danny

  10. This is just what I was looking for ahead of my training today. Not only are you an awesome trainer, I am starting to suspect that you’re a mindreader as well.

    Quality content as always!

  11. Hi. I did this then was told I had a inside takeaway and need to keep the club head outside the hands. How do you keep the balance ?

  12. Really good lesson, however, my lead arm is anything from bent to straight so no consistency, what should I do to keep this constantly straight through impact?

  13. Another brilliant one Danny. Played last week. Was cold, I had a bad back and was awful. Couldn't hit a thing!! This has inspired me to give it another good go this week. At least it's warmer!!!Thank you. I will get there!!!!

  14. Great explanation. My issue isn’t getting low on the shot. My issue is trying to get my weight forward while the body is leaning back. I can try working on this set up and swing circle but if all of my weight stays on my trail foot the results are terrible and I almost never hit anywhere near the centre of the clubface. Even on the rare occasions I do I tend to hit a very low shot.

  15. Great video. Gave me real insight into what has been going wrong in my swing lately. I am away to change my circle!

  16. Absolute key Danny. I find I get too involved in the process of the swing and lose what I’m trying to achieve. Become obsessed with the mechanics. Invariably when I loosen up. It works.

  17. I have the exact same issue as your dad Danny thank you for having the best teaching approach and knowedge of body mechanics

  18. Thanks for this Dan, been struggling for distance for a while was about 240 – 260 yards but now only about 220 – 230 ! Think my shoulder turn is decent but I put foot spray on and shots coming out of heel area 😫 I think I may be a bit close to ball at address so going to stand. further away at range tomorrow – I know how to sort this as Butch Harmon has the take the right hand off club and put it back drill – quite frustrating at the mo’ 😕

  19. Hello! Great video! Is this shoulder turn with the left shoulder moving to the right applicable for irons as well? Love your videos!

  20. 👍Thank you Danny another great very straight forward, easy to understand informative video.

  21. Very helpful and easy to understand. How about sometimes giving hints and distances achieved by slower swing-speed (yes, OK, older!) ladies?

  22. Another great video Danny. Will definitely be trying these great tips. Not sure any lady golfers watching will be able to apply one of your tips though 😂

  23. I do tend to get wooden with my driver after a free flowing practice swing sometimes tense up when I’m about to take my actual swing being a senior golfer. It is really nice to see your dad in the videos to see what is actually achievable. Thanks Danny!

  24. Great Tip Danny ,I Struggle with Rythem, start it To early or Casting and When I slow down It Just Goes Further and Straighter. Who Dey for My Bengals ,Cheers from Cincinnati!!!

  25. A great analogy of driver swing Danny , it really helps me to understand how to swing correctly, thanks very much , Cheers .

  26. Another Gem Maestro Danny! Setting up my back yard this morning to work on the circle and increasing the "swish" sound. Thanks once again!

  27. Worked on this in part with my coach yesterday, great recap this morning, also compressing and extending the sides of core (torso) – T'Dah 🤠😎
