NEW Srixon ZX4 MKII Irons Review

We test the second generation of Srixon’s most game improvement iron, the ZX4. Featuring a hollow body design, these irons are designed to help golfers get more distance while maintaining good peak height and landing angle.

  1. Currently use MP20 HMB but I love the Cleveland zip code CBX wedges which irons would go well with those? Like the V sole any ideas would be great. PS still loving the vids guys & I need to seriously stop showing my friends the one where you gave me tips about over swinging👍👍

  2. Great video! This second edition of ZX4 looks fantastic. Currently gaming 585/785 combo but considering moving to a set of ZX4s. My only concern was the gapping in the short irons and it got even worse after thist test. PW-7i 128-180 yds = 17 yds/club. Too much?

  3. Great video guys! Also, a year ago Mikey didn’t compress the ball like he is now. The past few months his golf swing is getting so much better and more powerful. Nice work man, keep it going

  4. Srixon irons look sexy. Only Mizuno on the same level of aesthetic pleasure.

  5. people get “jumpers” because they dont understand how lie is going to effect spin on a golf shot. i promise clubs aren’t hitting one ball 125 mph and another 130mph at the same speed and im not even as smart as these guys lol

  6. So funny you vented about the "Jumper" conversation, I always felt that what people were referring to unwittingly as a Jumper was when they actually made perfect contact vs. their usual contact. Jumpers for me always seemed to be the truest potential of a club at least under dry or indoor conditions/testing.

  7. So if there’s no jumpers, why do blades produce such consistent numbers vs other irons?

  8. it would be great to see how these compare to the previous generation. Ive been wanting to try Srixon since the 585s and it would be great to know if there is significant improvement over the past iterations.

  9. Clubs that rely on a springy face to produce the ball speeds needed in game improvement irons were prone to jumpers. You won't see a jumper in one piece clubs. The problem with GI clubs with springy faces is the tolerance isn't as tight. You may have a set that is totally fine, another person might get a set with one iron that has tendency to produce a jumper. It's also possible that modern GI clubs are alot better now that jumpers are rare to non-existent. Then I'm reminded of one recent indoor testing of the new Callaway Paradym irons where the tester had shots that flew 20yds further than all the rest. Doesn't exactly inspire alot of confidence.

  10. Great job Mikey! Looks like you're getting some additional speed since we last saw you. Keep up the great work buddy!

  11. Mikey, your killing it with your swing man, so much better in the last year. The Srixon clubs are looking
great too, I like the smaller face, looks and sounds like a golf club should. Thanks for the great review.

  12. On the jumpers debate: blades are high spin so when the lie or the strike cause a lower spin they can drop to mid spin. Game improvement irons, for the most part, are mid spin already so they drop to very low spin under the same conditions. Lower spin windows result in less control overall.

  13. Ya you're right. It never happens. Please don't start watching this video at the 19 minute mark because it's not real. https://youtu.be/hHnZmkvXHqY Also a guy I played with one day who was using P790's never told me he likes them but that everyone once and awhile he would fly the green by 20 yards. That never happened either. Please continue 👍

  14. ZX4 seems to be a major improvement this year. I bet Srixon will see a major increase in sales on this model as well is it finally being combo'd in more. Will you be testing the new utility iron?! I replaced my 785 4 iron with the utility 4 iron and man what a difference that made. Went from a rarely used club in the bag to a weapon! Would love to see what the difference is between it and the new model for this year.

  15. Would love to see a comparison of these to Taylormade P790’s or get Mikey’s thoughts on how they compare. Great content once again, thanks.

  16. Have to disagree with the jumpers. Ive seen it multiple times myself with many different irons and launch monitors. Just a random huge boost in ball speed. Not tugged left, same swing speed, same balls. 🤷‍♂️

  17. Any jumpers I've had was always that slightly toe side strike that maintained ball speed because of the head design but dropped spin. That combined with that slightly closed face pull and you get a super long left miss.

  18. Ooooh. Very tempting to add a 4 in the 4 to a combo of 5s (5,6,7) and 7s (8,9,W). Do they offer a GW/AW in the 7s?

  19. Have to disagree with you on the jumpers Ian. Maybe it’s not the right word, because it isn’t a jump in ball speed. But when spin is already low with these jacked lofts it doesn’t take much of a drop in spin to carry an extra 10-15 yards when ball speed is maintained. Unexpectedly fly a green by 10 yards = a jumper… a flyer… whatever you call it, there’s rarely much fun beyond a green, so I’d rather miss short. Sure, you can play a higher spin ball to try and protect yourself from a low spin knuckle ball, but then you just lose some of the distance that you’re chasing with the strong lofts anyway.
