Curtailing the follow-through in the swing, creates feeling of deceleration through impact which allows the clubhead to accelerate and release. This can result in a better strike for the player.

Happy new year Paddy!
Thank you patty, really enjoy your no nonsense yet clear explanations. One of the true pros that really loves playing and teaching golf in my own opinion. 🙏🏼🏌️♂️⛳️
I have a neutral grip but have so much trouble bowing my lead wrist in the downswing. My friend plays off scratch with a weak grip and he said if I don't bow that lead wrist with a neutral grip, I will slice it. But how do I do it? It feels so awkward trying to force it to bow.
Wonderful stuff Paddy! Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year!

Check out "The Mulligan Mafia" golf content. Go subscribe for great hack golf that makes you laugh and awesome competition between these buddies.
Thanks for doing this video series. A top tour player's insights remind me how amazing the game is. I'm a senior who doesn't even keep score any more.
Mr Harrington, Happy New Year!
May 2023 brings success, happiness and good health to you and family.
Thank you for these wonderful lessons.
Happy New year 🎉 Paddy and thanks for all the good golf information it is indeed very useful to myself and my golf students. ⛳️
3:50 is just fascinating. I love how Paddy cares so deeply about ensuring that the ball is right behind the previous divot and to keep a consistent divot pattern
top of the year to you Sir…great info as always…
Another great video paddy , thanks 👍👍any chance on doing a video on shanking irons . I’m a scratch golfer who seems to slip one in a round . Recently hitting my irons out the heel
Fantastic advice and you can’t argue with the longest and strongest guy on the senior tour. Thx Padraig!
"Throw the club through impact" brilliant. I always steer and hold off thinking it is a safer swing, lot of low and pulled shots as a result. Thanks Pod
Great video. Tommy Fleetwood is a good example of someone who does this in play !
あけましておめでとうございます Paddy !
Tiger also says he throws it and controls his swing with his right hand.
At 5:55: from last parallel to impact, you make a brilliant statement to go from bowed to less bowed which I am assuming is your lead or left wrist. You also say in the video to have a fully cupped wrist at the follow through which I again assume is your left or lead wrist. I understand the bowed wrist for a short iron shot like a 7iron but wondering if you need that bowed lead wrist for a bunker shot, flop shot, long iron, woods and driver. I love your bowed to less bowed idea there as that is definitely helping me with releasing the clubhead and getting my torso and pelvis fully turned at the finish. Trying to learn if I can go neutral to slightly cupped or slightly cupped to more cupped with the longer clubs or if it has to always be bowed to less bowed as you state. Thank you!
Ive heard about deceleration before and never quite understood it this way! Thanks paddy!
It’s called parametric acceleration
Happy New year from a fellow Irishman now living in Florida!!!!
Oh Bless Ya Paddy, we all hope you have a great year and your wishes come true. Thanks for your video's, its all about giving, every bit helps and keeps the game interesting.
Is this method suitable for driver swing or does it work best for irons?
bad news – I tried all these tips. I sprained my ankles, broke one wrist, and my hip is now fractured. any thoughts on recovery? 😉
Body swing and not an arm swing.
I love your energy and honesty and enthusiasm for teaching Paddy. Few playing pros can teach, but you've broken down the fundamentals so clearly. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot PH. I wonder if you need to use right arm, hand to match the club face and target line? Or it just happens naturally?
Isn't the "stopping of the body" really the pulling of the butt end of the club head from the 1 o'clock (shaft parallel) position to 10 o'clock (club head impact) position that creates this sudden acceleration? That massive sudden change of direction. The body wrenches the shaft around, the right side drops into the shaft at impact and the club head goes 3 feet while the butt of the grip goes 6 inches.
