  1. Yep, after playing sporadically over the years just borrowing clubs from mates I went with buying a similar Cleveland set. I knew I liked golf so the better investment made sense. And they're all good!

  2. Suggest better off with a quality set of 2nd hand pings or titleist etc from 15/20 yrs ago – should get change from £250 for everything and they'll be better at holding their value when you want to move on.

  3. Great video Matt. I have recently started and bought a wilson ultra XD package set for £350. I had everything in the bag for me to go to a lesson or a round of golf and play and see if i liked it. I figured if i do i will replace them in next winter.

  4. If I was asked for advice on clubs for a beginner… I firmly believe in getting used clubs.. something that a few years ago was really good and well made.

  5. About 15 years ago when I started playing golf I bought a set of clubs for $199 that were Big Bertha knockoffs. I wasn't very good when I went to the range and I thought well maybe it's these clubs. So I had this old guy at the club who've been playing golf all his life come out and hit my clubs. Turns out the clubs were great! It's just I needed to learn how to hit him! He took a seven iron and hit it about 200 yards and I just looked at myself like I don't need to be here.

  6. Great video! You could easily get a second hand set of irons for as cheap (cheaper) off Ebay, that are better made. I bought a set of Adams tight lies irons off ebay £20 for my Dad who is just starting. 3-SW. Good condition and if he doesn't like them, there's no damage. Would love to see you do a £89 bag video from ebay!

  7. Matt, you mentioned that the grooves might be illegal but didn’t clarify it at the end. What’s the verdict?

  8. I bought a Strata starter set 2 years ago that was awesome. D, 3, 4H, 5H, 6,7,8,9,PW, SW, putter, bag and head covers. Irons were quite nice. Certainly good enough for me to get the bug and get fitted for a "real" set. The Strata's are still in great shape, and they look nice as well. $375.00 for the total set. Just needed some tees, balls, and a glove to get started and feel good about myself on the course. For $400.00 I was playing golf.

  9. You can get a perfectly good putter under £20, a fairway hybrid for £80 and a driver for £120. Or get second hand for cheaper

  10. I firmly believe that the flag is better off out.. lost more putts from slight deflections than hitting the flag straight on to save me.. personal opinion..

  11. I got a full secondhand set of John letters swingmaster with bag ,tees, balls, 3 golf books, pitch repair fork the works for £70 everything I needed to get out swinging. Would definitely recommend the secondhand market for beginners just with a little guidance in looking for a regular set.

  12. I liked this long-format review. I also liked that 5H dispersion lol. I often recommend people look at used Wilson Staff and Ben Hogans. You can get an older very good quality set for cheap.

  13. Just buy used clubs! You can always find amazing clubs a few years old but in like new condition for half the price of new ones and alot of times even cheaper than that. Last year i bought a set of callaway apex pro 19's from callaway preowned in like new condition for 600 dollars. That was a 4-pw! Unless you only play like 2 or 3 times a year just invest a bit of money. They will last a long long time and if you really decide down the road you dont like golf you can always sell them.

  14. These sets are garbage! Everyone i have ever known that bought one wished after a month or 2 that they wouldnt have wasted their money on them. That goes for all these knock of sets.

  15. Great review but we have some fairly serious maths errors going on with the stated spin differences on the 8 iron and 5 hybrid. Eg. 5432 minus 4797 is not “well over a thousand” 😂 It’s 635

  16. people think you need these high tech clubs to produce spin and be a good golfer thats what people are told when in fact its not true

  17. Doesn't make any sense when you can get quality second hand gear. With a bit of research (so you buy the right stuff) you can get a full set of beginner irons (for eg. Mizuno t Zoid MX-15) and some woods and a bag for under £300.
