Should You Be Using A Hybrid Or A Driving Iron?

How do you fill the gap in your bag between your fairway woods and your irons?

Equipment expert Hannah Holden tested out the new TaylorMade Stealth UDI and DHY driving irons against her SIM2 hybrids to see if players should be making the switch.

  1. Was at 18th Senior Open today at tee off…of the 90 professionals I saw tee off, about 5 only used a driving iron – the rest mostly 3 woods or some drivers. A few hybrids and 5 woods. @Gleneagles

  2. Great review Hannah. I need a fairway finder that gaps between my 4 hybrid and driver. Will def try the DHY. 👍

  3. I love how you made it clear how the difference is with an iron, you hit "down" on the ball. Whereas a Hybrid, its more "Sweep the grass". So players that struggle with woods sweeping the grass, but take divots with irons, will like this I think

  4. Great video as always Hannah! I finally improved at hitting my hybrids so won’t be switching back to a driving iron anytime soon haha

  5. Hannah, what is the loft of your lowest numbered traditional iron in your bag (for example, you might use a 5 iron as your longest traditional iron, which is ??deg of loft)? You and I have about the same swing speed, which is why I like your channel, and one reason I'm asking. I carry a traditional 5 iron with 26deg of loft, and probably half my shots with it are lower than I'd like. I probably should use a hybrid 5.
