NEW IRON KNOCKS THE TAYLORMADE P790 OFF TOP SPOT?

#taylormade #golf #golfswing #golfclub #golfer #michaelnewtongolf

TaylorMade P790 iron is possibly the most popular hollow body golf iron but a new golf club has been launched from Cobra, the Cobra Forged Tec Iron could be a contender to knock the TaylorMade off top spot.

  1. You are always my go to YouTube golf reviewer. Great content and I'm always learning as I watch your videos.

  2. Well IMO ,in the hollow body category the Mizuno Pro 225 is top dog , I’ve owned both these irons and the Mizuno feels better , the size of the head is more blade like with forgiveness. Pro 225 all day! Cheers

  3. Enjoyed the review as always 👍 Would be interested to see you do a head to head between the Forged Tec and i525.

  4. i ended up with lynx vt. crazy i know. they are outstanding irons. im selling my d9 forged and cobra forged tec. and i loved the d9 forged…

  5. Srixon makes the best iron out there. Unfortunately people are brainwashed into buying into the big names.

  6. Great video as always, I watch a similar video you did recently between the p790 and Callaway Rogue pro where you said the Rogue pro edged it so bit confused how you are now saying p790 is top?

  7. I concur. For a player’s distance iron, I feel a 31 degree 7 iron is perfect for me (average swing speed). When I see a PD iron that has a 7 iron less than 30 degrees, I would custom order it one degree flat…or completely discount it.

  8. Could you please upload videos in stereo? Whenever in landscape view, audio is very soft

  9. I have the Forged Tec X and they are excellent. Probably one of the best game improvement hollow bodies in terms of sound and feel. Loads of distance although very strong in loft and low spinning which actually makes this not an ideal club for high handicap players. You definitely need some speed to take full advantage of this club or at the very least get fit and see about counteracting that low launch and spin with an appropriate shaft.

  10. I got a set of the previous cobra forged tec , sorry I'm a 1 length wan#=r, and I love em

Really long and forgiving so might be looking at these new ones in a couple years time 😁

  11. Thanks Mike Currently Playing P790 2019 and love them But the Cobra Irons look good so maybe?

  12. I would choose the Cobra. I love the way they look and I like being a little different. Both are great clubs, though.

  13. I recently completed getting fitted for new irons. Age 72, needing more help from loss of swing speed. I tried everything in the Players Distance category. Final 3 were the Mizuno Pro 225, Wilson D9 Forged and the Cobra Forged Tec (but NOT the new version – the 2021 version worked better than the new version for me). However, after hitting all 3 over two sessions, I chose the Wilson D9 Forged. Virtually all the same distance, good sound, but best feel and tightest dispersion were the Wilson D9 Forged. Got them with Recoil ESX 460 R shafts and they are easy to swing. I felt the Cobra were a good 2nd. Could have been happy with them also, but Wilson won. Wilson and Cobra were also very nicely priced!

  14. What’s the head size in comparison of the P790 vs MP225 vs i525? Got any data or specs?

  15. Whilst I prefer the P770s to the P790s, the P790 is a really good club – it is just a bit too big for my eye.

As for the Forged Tec, it is one of the best looking irons that Cobra have made for a while (outside of the stunning Ricky Fowler irons) and I really like that they have toned down the branding on the back of the club which for me was incredibly off putting. However, the loft is too strong for me. I know from experience that once iron loft drops below 25 degrees, I struggle to consistently launch the ball. So I would need a 6i-PW and I do worry that the loft gapping of c 5 degrees per club from 7i through to PW (44 degrees) might result in the gapping between clubs at the higher end of the bag being a little too large

  16. I have a set of these on order they blew 223s, p790, zx7s, and apex out of the water at my fitting once I got my shafts locked in. The stronger loft is a moot point to argue the cobra also has a 5 times forged body making it super bendable so mine are ordered 1.5 degrees weaker. Bending all those clubs to the same loft for my fitting, these cobras are more forgiving and hotter off the face. Spin was competitive with all the rest as well. Great clubs from cobra and cherry on top is they are cheaper and look super clean with minimal offset and thin sharp top line.
