Does your top-load washer leave detergent residue on your clothes? Watch our video for washing machine tips to eliminate detergent residue.

How to Avoid Detergent Residue on Clothes From a Top-Load Washer

1. Make sure you’re using the detergent dispenser. If there’s no dispenser, add detergent to the bottom of the washtub before adding the laundry load.

2. Always use fresh detergent. We recommend using liquid detergent, especially for cold-water or slow-speed cycles.

3. Don’t overload the washer. Tightly packing the load can trap detergent. Large loads should fill only about three-quarters of the machine.

Remember to consult your owner’s manual first for information on how to properly care for your specific appliance.
