I’m currently on the ‘breaking 90’ system after successfully breaking 100 for the last six months. I am following the par 90 theory and instead of looking at my overall score I’m looking at how many shots I’m taking for greens in regulation for a par 90. My last game I was 7 shots over what I should have been to hit every green in a ‘par 90’ regulation. Most of those were down to a poor approach shot from within 50 yards or so and just rolling of the green enough to cause me to chip and 2 putt. However, I did shot a 94 even with the +7 GIR so with a bit of tidying up…. I’m there!!
You're a genius
thnks So much Todd, when u pull right foot back do we place ball just inside left heel for say..7iron? or put back near middle? is ball always Up front if we pull right foot back??? cheers thnksmate
Hey Matt, I just got done playing 9 holes today using the lyin'zero method & I want to tell you what a big difference it makes on your confidence. I had 6 pars, 2 birdies,& a six on the last hole cause I hit it in the water for a total of 36. My very first shot sucked all day but my second first shot was amazing. Even though I really shot a 45 I had a fricking blast playing your method and I am going to smoke my son-in-law tomorrow. He won't know what hit him. Keep them ideas coming Matt. You Da Man Playa !!!
T daddy from foreplay needs this ASAP.
I would like to do this…but my playing partners wouldn't bet with me anymore…😇
Perfect video. Only thing missing is the easel falling over. 😂
Breaking 90 on a very tough course slope rating of 138 is a task for me. Even with the methods which has really helped. The greens are VERY fast and unforgiving. Other courses with lower rating, I can score in 80s now.
No hero shots is the key and GIOTG!
Where does one purchase said bucket hat
Love the line zero idea. Might not be using driver off every 4 and 5 par that often.
Player in chief, I was playing the best round of golf in my life today(in a tournament) and went 8 over on the last three holes and carded an 87. Any advice on how to keep it together at the end of a good round?
One of the best golf videos, for beginners…ever. Well done.
Your program help me break 90, no lie. Now can you help me break 80?
That sir is actually a very interesting concept. Thanks I think I will adapt this. Playing to handicap at my home course a par 79 sounds heaps better
Love the line zero idea. Might not be using driver off every 4 and 5 par that often.
Wow!!!thank you!
In our league, I’ve started telling the higher handicap playas that they are lying 0 after their tee shot they are lying 0, and when they get 2 shots, I tell them after their 2nd shot. It really helps them.
You whiteboard series is legendary!
The whiteboard series is my favorite content on Matt's channel
Up there with one of the best golf videos I’ve seen and not a club or fairway in sight. Playa!
Just wanted to say thanks. Just shot a no-BS 99… used the lying zero concept, hit my shots and didn’t dick around with the stupid ones. Super enjoyable, to the point of score not even MATTERING. 🙏
Good advice. I stopped trying to bust my balls making pars and I now play for bogeys. I aim to get on the green in 2 on par 3s,and 3 on par 4s and 5s,then I aim to 2 putt maximum. If I make a par I consider it a bonus. I broke 100 using this method and now regularly shoot low to mid 90s.
Soon will be breaking 90 easily.
Love it! I’ve been struggling so much off the tee lately. Next time I go out I’m going to apply this (hit comfortable/reliable club off tee /even if iron)
Here’s to breaking 90!
I believe I can do it. Celebrating with a whataplaya polo and bucket hat
Shot an 89 (+17) from the tips this weekend. It was my first time breaking 90 after golfing for about 6 months. It wouldn't have happened without some of the things Ive learned from this channel.
85 next. Let's go boys
My system for breaking 90 is to just play the front 9. Treat every hole is a par 10
This is really good; simple and achievable.
Matt you make so much sense. Good on ya.
If you hit a provisional ball off the tee, are you then “lyin’ two”???
Haha! My "tee box" then lies in the deep grass :-))
This helps a lot. Pick your own par. My plan at first was 3 to get on the green and 2 putts, 5 shorts per hole allowance is a 90. Also…I played the senior tees for a while when I was getting started (age 50), then moved back. Whats Matt's thoughts on tee box selection? BTW shot an 87 yesterday that easily could have been an 82 – i'm 3 years in.
Broke 100 for the first time in a long time after following this method. Not only did I play the best round in years, but it was a completely stress free day. 90 is next, thanks playa 😎
You can easily break 90 if you just drop the 'zero' part of this advice.
This is , no shit, absolutely brilliant. I tried the lyin zero one and began bogeying the course pars (instead of say 3 over). Teeing off with no pressure is the key here, which in itself ensures a better and more relaxed stroke
Played 9 holes today, shot a 34 with this system, unbelievable paradigm shift, it's awesome how free you play when you don't feel you have to crush it off the tee
I have a system I've adapted that I like to call "Lyin' to myself", where any stray, treebound big Richard attempts with my driver were just practice swings using a ball for extra realism and I'm still taking my first stroke 3 balls later.
dont do par is a social construct as a drinking game when he says it on the video youl be drunk haha
I love the content here. I love the approach to golf. What's killing me ATM is that my misses are not consistent. I'm having a hard time reaping the benefits of WOTP because I can't pick my miss. The thinking is great, but my golf itself is too poor to actually break these barriers.
