THE NEW WAY TO TEE THE DRIVER FOR ACCURACY AND LOW SPIN! | GOLF WRX | WISDOM IN GOLF |

THE NEW WAY PGA TOUR PLAYERS TEE THE BALL WITH THE DRIVER THESE DAYS FOR MORE ACCURACY WITHOUT COMPROMISING DISTANCE WITH TODAY’S LOW SPIN DRIVER IS with the lower tee. HOW LOW SHOULD IT BE? CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO TO FIND OUT! Mu tested our theory out successfully in Mesquite, Nevada, at the Pro Long Drive this last weekend with a big 338 drive into a 2 club wind on a slow grid!

  1. Hmm, Darrell Klasson is a retired pga pro who strongly advocates against using a high tee and I think it makes sense, trying to hit a ball cleanly when it’s 4 inches off the ground ain’t a simple matter!

  2. Is this set up for the ‘new low spin’ drivers only or for all drivers? Do we not set up with the ball forward and off the lead foot and hit up on the ball?

  3. I understand people are different – but why was there SO much variance in the height in the shots between Mu and Sean? 50 ft vs 120 ft

  4. Love the concept Shawn. Mu was a quick advocate that’s for sure. Unrelated question. Someone goes out and gets fitted for clubs. Then later he buys a new pair of shoes that have a higher stance. Has any teaching pro looked at how the profile of new shoes could impact your ball striking proficiency vs. your current club specs. It seems to me that you may need to tweak those clubs. Any thoughts?

  5. Hi Shawn

My comment is not relative to today's video but an oldie but goldie video of yesteryear.. I've been really struggling lately so I waded through your old videos "what to do when you lose your swing"

Your old video was a life saver for my game. I played the whole round with only one swing thought -OUT OF THE WAY-OUT OF THE WAY !

It slowed down my tempo and blocked out all other swing thoughts about positions, straight left arm etc etc.

Shawn that video was 2015 but still valid 7 years later. Thanks for all you do.

  6. If Mu is in a long drive competition and the other guy goes 0 for 6 all out of the fair way or if its a windy day and Mu hits first he could use a fairway finder swing on the first ball to get the one ball in the grid insurance.

  7. Interesting. I’ll give it a try but I doubt I have enough club head speed to pull this off and still maintain reasonable distance

  8. You won't believe this. I touched a golf club for the first time in 2016, at age 64. By setting the tee low, and the ball further closer to center than recommended, I was covering 240 yards as a beginner fairly consistently. But as I took more "correcting" golf lessons over 6 years, I found myself losing distance and control with the driver. About 2 months ago, in desperation, I went back to my beginner settings. Bingo…the magic returned. No more driver lessons for me.

  9. I always thought this is the way to do it, it makes more sense to me. I started having issues controlling the driver since teeing it high, so this is a welcome piece of advice! Thank you 🙏

  10. I’ve always had more success with teeing it low in spite of every conventional teaching protocol saying tee it high.

Two questions: I didn’t quite understand the concept of “use the ground as a training aid”.

Also, what’s the purpose of ball in the middle of the stance vs opposite left heel?

  11. Hey Shawn, I see you and Mu pickup your trailing(right) foot before you start your backswing I presume as n trigger, think you should do a video on that😉👍

  12. Amazing to see how Mu looks like he is casually swinging the club but hitting 300 yards plus

  13. i have struggled with driver since i started playing massive slice . I have a strong grip and tried everything with no consistancy . i can hit the driver off the deck at the range on a matt . i find that i consistantly hit the ball high in the face and sky them alot . when i dont they are slices . normal drives are about 200 to 250 i have had one drive 300 yards . im going to give this a shot .

  14. Great video thanks. What is the loft on the drivers that you and Mu use. And do you think that this makes a big difference?

  15. I would like to see real world lessons from your students in the wild. Sav and Mu are great but some of us real world golfers don't have availability to the intense instruction and limitless access to state of the art facilities and tech.

  16. I would like to have seen both of you hit some draws for a comparison. Just wondering what the height would have been. Maybe at a future video.

  17. Just watching you consistently for about 2 months, off and on for the 2 and half years I’ve played. I’ve fixed my swing. I carry driver anywhere from 270-290, learned how to play 4 different shots with driver. Yesterday I hit 2 par 4s. I hit a 283 with a fade right over tree line on the left side. Then never hit the green on 18. It’s 305 uphill, hit the draw. Guy at the clubhouse said he’s only ever saw one other person hit it off the tee and the guy hit it with his wood

  18. Teeing it low, unless you're using a 3 wood will definitely cost you distance unless you're playing a firm course that will allow the ball to roll a great deal.

  19. I used the lower tee that was about 1/8" lower than what I was using today, with a lot of wind and even though it my second round after 6 months of not playing, due to injury, I hit more fairways than usual and got good distance, and i wasthinkingaboutloweringmy tee hight and this video confirmedot. I even hit a low driver shot that you showed in the premium channel and it didn't get above the trees at all.

  20. As someone who plays driver from the deck, on a regular basis, I tee it up kinda low, and hit this shot all the time. I literally hit my driver as if it’s a 9 degree fairway wood. Had 272 to the pin the other day, and hit driver off the deck onto the green. lol

  21. I'll try this today. 1. Should I set up for a slight fade with the tee this low? 2. Am I trading carry for roll (which I have no issue with as long as I am on the fairway). 3. Hitting down on the ball can cause some wild mishits. As an amateur how can I train for a lower arc at the bottom of my swing please?

  22. Love your channel, question on faces and draws…you said play the ball a nudge up for fade and nudge back for a draw…. are you opening the face when you move ball forward in your stance? And closing for the draw? You dont really mention that ….please elaborate….gracias

  23. Launch angle 5.7; smash 1.43, and still carry over 300????ive done a lot of fittings in my years and have never seen those numbers

  24. Have you ever heard pf the ''water skier golf analogy'? I was wondering what do you think about it. I cant seem to use your ''throw the club to the target'' i need something like this analogy for me to have a feel. I've recently (8 weeks) started using your videos and it has helped me a lot! breaking 90 now but i still struggle sometimes with my follow through and the other day i started using the skier anlogy and it seemd to help but i kep hitting the toe of the club a lot and wasnt sure if this fits with what you preach. I notice not every pro does this analogy

  25. Bringing the ball back to center was challenging today. took me a bit to figure out the new swing (level swing) I want better accuracy and not miss the fairways. Staying low to the ground is tough. rather than getting the upward and out swing. if anything. had the snap hook today
