ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

  1. An absolutely fundamental video. Should be included in the top ten golfing videos ever. Thanks!

  2. I'm listed as a three when I'm on my game, but from time to time I get side tracked with things I think will help my swing but in fact do little except cause me frustration about why I'm not hitting it solidly. I can simply listen to mine and others swing sound to tell if they're a good player or not. The ball makes a hissing sound or sizzle sound off the face of the club when I'm compressing that shot. My point is that this clip is the best clip I ever watched that explains the release so easily and correctly and has me back on track once again compressing that ball. I appreciate the good work and nice explanation. Only golfers understand the beauty of hitting a shot where the ball explodes off the face like it's got another gear and hisses out of site and brings a smile to your heart. Not many in this world ever experience this it seems to me, but I absolutely love it..

  3. You are among the best instructors on video. Your concepts are so spot on! Now, if I could only follow it!
My issue, like millions of amateurs, is ball striking ( ball then turf). This video REALLY explains the right hand function on the down swing. Thank you, sir.

  4. ok so silly question. If i have my delivery position correct where i come into the ball area, them my release wont happen until after i strike the ball? I believe that im breaking my wrists as or just before i strike the ball.

  5. I am hitting my higher numbers irons (7-pw) too high.
    Is it a release problem?
I practice with hands apart to ensure I am keeping left wrist flat but it doesn't seem to help.
I do have a sensitive back (as with a lot of older players).
Is there a drill that would help lower trajectory?

  6. How does this work for me you wanted my back swing to be further behind me and not so upright like what you are showing.

  7. This is Mike Malaska "over the top from the inside" ie dynamically the club head is coming over the top of the hands from the top of the downswing to impact, This explains how this happens beautifully if you are on plane and don't manipulate the club head unduly with the forearms but allow the momentum in the club head to work. Love it.

  8. brilliant video Danny, i first watched this over a year ago but i didnt really take it on board properly . I have now done this and it has totally transformed my game leading to more consistent ball striking .

  9. This is so simple and easy to follow. You give such a great explanation of the releasing of the club especially illustrating the specific club/body angle relationships. This applies to me so much and is just what I needed at this point in my game. This may well be my best golf lesson ever. I can see this having such a positive influence on my game. Thanks so much. Send me a bill.

  10. No problem with my release but my draw swing is still a work in progress, still trying to make it my normal swing. I suppose I will always have to think about swinging inside out the trouble is not going too far into a hook, meanwhile controlling the clubface at impact. I try and feel and think the clubface going straight through the ball. I don't think about anything else. And I have been hitting nice draws for the first time in my life. At first I did it with my driver by standing far from the ball, that way I had to swing inside out, plus turned my grip to be stronger. But I needed a swing that worked for all my clubs, an easy way while standing comfortably at the ball. So I morphed my swing into a nice little inside out by doing a bigger backswing hip turn, shortening my backswing arc, and slightly lowering my downswing arc. Sounds complex but it is working for me, mostly l think about the clubface doing straight through the ball.

  11. This is the best release drill ever. I actually understand the process. Thank you Danny!

  12. Great explanation. I have been looking for something that explains the difference between hold and turn through and roll the hands over. During the time when you are letting gravity cause the club to fall into impact are you also pushing down/forward with the right hand/arm? Thanks

  13. Danny I would like to thank you for a video you posted 2 years ago.
How to release the golf club. I watched it last night.
You talked about your dad and how he was confused as to when to start the release, as was I.
You explained about the 45 degree angle and your hips matching.
Well I tried it today and my irons were exploding off the club face.
I have suffered with slicing my driver for years.
Today 95% were line balls landing 240 yards.
Your video switched on a light bulb for me and I just want to say "thank you so much "
Maybe a remake of this would help more people.
    Kind regards Mike Crosbie.

  14. Thank you it make big different .
Great concept to understand the delivery and release position.
    Great job .

  15. Well damn… you said it in the first minute of the video – the release is a by-product………. Its just physics – you just have to learn to "let go and relax" and it'll happen naturally. I've struggled with this a lot as I've gotten back into golf at 49 years old.

  16. Great vid, thank you. I've found it weird that training vids so often avoid talking about that 45 degree position, it's always when the club is in horizontal then just after release but not how to get there.

  17. I have really liked all of your videos I have seen because of their simplicity and they really work. Except this one which is confusing to me. This one I am going to skip because I don’t think I will be able to implement it correctly.

  18. Hi Danny, thanks for all you do! question; this seems to contradict some of your other videos for the delivery position from waist high; the club looks 90 degrees straight down the line (not outside at 45). Are you exaggerating the downswing position for the drill? (for those of us who do not turn enough) Or does the 45 degree delivery position happen "naturally" as we continue the downswing, opening the hips and posting that front leg? Thank you so much

  19. Very good information and helps me a lot as confirmation of what I am currently working on. I have improved a lot by getting the backswing feeling more out in front of my torso, which has helped me get in the right position to hit on the downswing. Before I was taking the club way to much around the body with no lift of the arms. Now I just think about lifting the arms in front of me and turning the shoulders. One other thing – I suffered (suffer) from flipping. Have done this all my life and I see it's quite common in people. I think you mentioned it… the release is natural… I now don't do anything with my wrists, I just let them react to the swing. It's my only swing thought – NO wrists, just let it happen.

  20. This is a little bit conflicting to your another video V swing for striking pure iron on Feb 2,.2019.

  21. Danny, great video but can you explain difference between this instruction on returning club to 45 degree position and other video on downswing when you demonstrate getting club parallel with feet line on downswing?
    Regards

  22. Hi Danny I am 79 years old and play reasonable golf. Your lessons have also improved my game a lot. Now, out of nowhere I have totally lost my swing and shank every shot especially shorter irons. The only time I avoid shanking is by rolling my wrists which is not ideal, your advice here is what I am now workin on. My question is rolling the wrists I don’t shank, if not I shank, without seeing my swing any idea as to why shanking if not rolling wrists.

  23. Danny, I get into this great position easier if I forward lean my shaft when I'm addressing the ball (at setup) is that a good way to do it?

  24. What a great explanation of check points and release. Thanks Danny for another golden nugget. A simple game made complicated by people!

  25. Totally understand the vid now thanks —- So Danny — where is the speed created please if not with the wrists

  26. Love this video, clearly hitting the ball better – but I’ve moved to a distance reducing cut … reason why?

  27. I'm brand new to your site, and I'm prepared to change my swing. I'm 79 years old, but in good shape. Yesterday I played and started to make changes to my swing. I didn't play well due to my mental and physical change, however I'm starting to hit several shot better than before. On the last two holes I put it all together onthe 2 par 4s and I reached the green in 2. First ever, thanks to you .it's just a matter of time to change my old swing to your new swing mentally,to the point it becomes habitual. I'm on my way.Thet swing motion you showed your Dad,has helped me greatly. So simplified.

  28. great video again dany but could you explain the difference between the right way and the out to in swing it looks to be so close…thanks

  29. i think your in the top 5 teaching golf pros on the planet mate ,some statement considering how many billion people on the planet haha ..keep going danny no pressure haha

  30. Great and essential information. Thank you. I found that swinging one arm only (both left and right) is a great self teacher (you taught me that) combined with your video on pitching and the importance of side bend and this video on how to achieve the proper release has helped me improve my golf and enjoyment of golf immensely. Been at it for 50+ years. Old dogs can learn if they have a good teacher.

  31. Danny haven’t been on one of your videos for awhile. But I went through everything to fix a slice. I managed to turn it into a slight nice fade with everything. A bowed wrist, hitting inside of ball etc, but I’m sorry to say for me it’s been the release. And maybe I missed it or it’s supposed to be a known factor for the swing but none of teaching I’ve saw says anything about the release is what turns the ball over. I even tried to call myself out on this and was on the range just snapping things hooking it just to see. I was even setting clubface open at a 45 degree angle and was still snapping it over. Swear it’s the same for all us slicers we don’t know to release the club.

  32. Danny, thank you so much, this may be a CRUCIAL part of my swing that I was missing and I can't believe none of the instructors I've had never mentioned it, it seems so obvious and it's like finding the missing link. You are my golf hero buddy, I love your instruction videos, you also provide the nicest and most comprehensive guidance. Sincere thanks for making me a better golfer and help me enjoy this great sport even more!!

  33. I feel like I'm slicing my drivermore when I don't fully release my driver at impact. If I focus on having my wrists fully unhinged I know I can arrive square at impact. Is this wrong ?
