It is all about trying to skim off the top players with oil money, and no interest in creating a tour where new players earn their card through good play. The rich get richer, new players not wanted. LIV will never be a place where you see new players arrive, get better and work their way to the top, because LIV is not going to pay appearance money to anyone without an established reputation. LIV is trying to turn the PGA Tour into a farm system. I don't feel this is good for golf.
IF it gets T.V/live online coverage, a "different" format dare I say shorter playing format so viewers don't have to sit for hour on hour watching then it has a very good chance. Players are at the end of the day play for a living and if the BIG money is available then don't be surprised if they go for it. As for banning players who will that hurt the most? The PGA and the R & A need big names what would the Ryder cup teams look like o.k the event will still run but you still need the names to attract. Difficult very difficult can any organisation afford to lose a number of big names in one go and still keep viewing figures/advertising/sponsorship i.e money.
The more golf the better for the world and players….Players have a Right To Choose and Play were and when they Please….The PGA is Strong and for them to adopt a Dictatorship in this matter is beyond the True Essence of GOLF…..
I find the hysteria about Saudi involvement a bit much. I don’t at all approve of their governments behavior. That said, there is already money in golf, including the European tour and pga tour from all sorts of terrible people and countries. Including events in countries with horrible human rights track records. So why is the golf world collective soiling itself over this. Ultimate hypocrisy.
Yeah I’ll watch if the Field has good players in it and not guys from the Korn Ferry. I don’t think people care about who is funding the league they just want to be entertained.
Will be very interesting to see how this all plays out. Personally don't think all this Saudi money is good image for golf, or any other sport for that matter. All this "grow the game" nonsense is a joke, none of these players care in the slightest, they all just want to line their pockets because they know they can no longer win out there on the PGA Tour. Not being able to compete in the Ryder Cup will be a huge reason why many of the world's best US and European players won't ever risk joining this Saudi Golf League.

The sponsors and golf fans forgotten how much fun and entertaining PM playing golfs all those years and how much revenue PM have to his sponsors.
