  1. This didn’t sit well with me, Kat Mertsch being the local player never acknowledged the local crowd cheering for her.

  2. I have to comment on some of the terminology I often hear from the commentators in disc golf that I just don't understand. They are obviously taken from golf, but just do not apply in this sport, at all.
    For example:
Tap in…. What are they tapping? How about using "Drop in" or "Toss in" for a really short or a gimme putt? Nothing is being tapped here.
Chip shot….What are they chipping with or at? It's a short approach or an up shot.
Green…granted this is the first course I've seen in a while that actually has grass, as around the basket is usually dirt, rocks, mulch, hard packed dirt, pine needles, pine cones or even same, but never a "Green". Since we have a Circle, why don't we just refer to it as The Circle and leave it at that?
I will commend the ladies for using the term "discing down", instead of another poorly used golf term, "clubbing down" they I've heard before. I guess I need to talk to Ulibari about that one. 🙂
    Just my 2 cents.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

  3. Lykke is pronounced more like lucky, bit the u is more like ie or something..😁 Just call her Lucky, it bet thats fine by her.. 🤓

  4. Didn't know Kat Mertsch before this round but I will not forget her now, especially after her smile on that perfect drive on 9! What an absolutely brilliant front 9! She is a smasher! 👏👏👏

  5. Great stuff. It was really entertaining watching the live broadcast just for all the extra Mertsch footage in between shots. She's a real character. I love it. Combine that with how good she has been playing the last year (especially this year) and she makes for a really great player to watch. She's got all the tools. She bombs, she has forehand and backhand, and has a solid putting stroke. From there it's just about developing a good attitude and solid mental game. So far so good on that front. That's what really makes the difference. I keep waiting for Hailey to play well consistently with all that talent but I'm starting to wonder if she will ever be able to manage the mental side of the game.

  6. Kat Mertsch has a beatufil form, both backhand and forehand. Hope to see more youngins showing up and flaunting more of these skills and versatile shots. The FPO is in desperate need of stiffer competition!

  7. no unreachable par threes? it's about friggen time! i WANT to see the FPO field average under par, i want to see -10 scores. the game is so much more watchable when the course allows players to play for birdie…as long as they're not gimmes. great coverage & commentary as usual!

  8. I met Kat at the distance contest in Vegas last year – I don't think she broke 350, but just nailed 390 off the tee on hole 1 here, improvement is real!

  9. Kat Mertsch embodying one of the cardinal tenets of sport: enjoyment of good play. There is a slice of the American spirit in that youthful exuberance.
