Tips for the makeup of your golf bag (WITB)

What’s In Your Golf Bag?

In this golf tips video we will review how you should build your golf bag to make sure the makeup of the 14 clubs you put in there make the most impact for your golf game.

First all, make sure to put – and use – all 14 clubs you are allowed to carry in your bag. It makes no sense to put golf clubs in your bag that you don’t like to hit, or can’t hit at all. If you have one or a few of these, take them out to make room for better options.

A typical modern golf bag will usually carry a driver, one or two fairway woods, one of two hybrid clubs, several irons, 2 to 4 wedges and one putter. Now how many you carry of one type depends on which type of club you prefer. For example, some golfers prefer to hit hybrids rather than long irons so hybrids could be creeping into the 3, 4, 5, or even 6-iron territory. Otherwise some may find more success hitting fairways woods ratha than hybrids so these golfers may carry 3 or 4 fairways woods, at the expense of hybrids.

Regarding wedges, you should try to find a way to carry more than 2 wedges. Indeed, golfers that start the game will usually only carry 2 wedges, a pitching wedge (PW) and a sand wedge (SW). Try to see if you could sneak a gap wedge (GW) and even a lob wedge (LW) in there. Carrying more than 2 wedges will give you more options when you are around the green or when you are a short range away from the green.

It’s all about finding a specific use and distance for each club and making sure that you enjoy and can find success hitting every club in your bag.
