DeSantis’ wife diagnosed with breast cancer

Florida first lady Casey DeSantis has been diagnosed with breast cancer, according to a statement provided by the state governor’s office on Monday.

In the statement, Gov. Ron DeSantis wrote that his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. The Republican and potential presidential candidate in 2024 said his wife is a fighter and she will not give up.
The 42-year-old Casey DeSantis is a TV producer and show host who married the 43-year-old Ron DeSantis in 2010 after they met at a Jacksonville area golf driving range. Together, the couple has three children: 4-year-old Madison, 3-year-old Mason and 1-year-old Mamie.

Casey DeSantis has been outspoken about children’s rights since DeSantis took office in 2019. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she hosted roundtable discussions about disparities in mental health services for children, and the increase in young students who dropped out.

She’s also known around the state Capitol as one of the governor’s closest advisers and has appeared in several of his campaign commercials.
