Postspawn Bass Fishing Tactics

Postspawn Bass Fishing Tactics

The postspawn stage for largemouth bass presents one of the best times of the year for an angler to go out on the lake and get bites. During this time, the bass are moving out off the beds and feeding up in preparation for the summer months. Bass tend to focus in on shad and baitfish as this summertime migration begins. On this episode of the Bass Pro Shops Fisherman’s Handbook, host Wade Middleton heads down to Choke Canyon Reservoir in Texas to test out a new bait and target some postspawn bass.

The new bait that Wade is product testing is the Stupid Craw from Secret Lures. This is a bait that has proven to be a great fish-catching bait throughout the spring thus far in a variety of scenarios. So far, we have seen this bait be put to use rigged stupid style and Jeff Reynolds recently flipped the Stupid Craw on a Texas rig when targeting spawning fish.

On this latest adventure, Wade has decided to see how this bait fairs on a spinning combo with Sunline braid as the main line paired with a fluorocarbon leader. Fishing trips like this can be very helpful for both the angler and the bait company. By trying new tactics and experimenting with different fishing methods, an angler can get a better understanding for how the bait performs in a wide variety of scenarios. The Secret Lures Stupid Craw works great paired on a spinning rod and Wade catches fish cast after cast at certain times throughout the day.

Be sure to stay tuned all the way through the end of the episode to watch Wade catch one of the biggest fish of the entire season!
