How To Swing Through the Ball | Discovering Your Swing Motion

⛳ The purpose of this drill is to teach players how to use their natural swing motion to swing through the ball rather than swinging at the ball. When swinging at the ball players often create a bad compromising move that is dominated by the arms.

🔑 The keys to effectively swinging through the ball is to forget about the ball and the target and instead to focus on your swing motion. This will free up the arms and allow for a better rotation and sequence.

1️⃣ Start by swinging without a club. Good posture is important and can be found by extending your arms in front of you at waist height
2️⃣ Then turn your body and swing your arms up to shoulder height, then bend at the hips while repeating the same swinging motion
3️⃣ Now you can begin replicating that same swing, but with a club. You will feel your turn and the rotation of your shoulders and your hips. You will also begin to feel the weight-shift from your right foot to your left foot.
4️⃣ Make sure not to focus so much on your target and the ball that you forget about the motion of your swing. Your posture, turn, and weight-shift all come together with your natural swing motion to hit through the ball most effectively.

📈 Practice this drill to stop focusing so much on your target and get back to focusing on the swing. When you practice this drill enough you will feel as though you are hitting right through the golf ball just as your practice swing would feel look like.
