Lil' Red Shotmaker – How to Shape Your Golf Shots

Though nearly all golfers have a individual go to shot, many are unable to execute a shot in the exact opposite way. As most players will eventually end up in an unfavorable spot on the golf course, proper shot shaping techniques will be one of the easiest ways to get out of trouble in any situation.

Notorious shot shapers like Tiger Woods have utilized such strategies on the PGA Tour to beat the odds and turn a hazardous situation into an mind boggling scoring opportunity. Shot shaping has been one of the key components to Tiger’s ascent to the top of the PGA Tour from the very beginning.

Every player more often than not encounters challenging obstacles during the typical round of golf. Having the ability to brush such situations off with your shot shaping technique will make all the difference at the end of the day. Taking a difficult shot and making it an advantage can provide players with the confidence to take their game beyond their current skill level in the long run. Top speed golf instructors find that these situations often allow their players to bounce back with little effort, allowing such students to be better golf strategists over time.

Me and my golf students pay specific attention towards the shaping of shots and how developing such skills can lead to some of the most tremendous shots of a player’s time on the course.

While shaping your shots, me and my golf students focus on a few core principles that have allowed for improvements, whether that be better golf swings or saved strokes on the green.

First and foremost, my players must be mentally ready before ever swinging their club. Rather than seeking to become top speed golf pros overnight, strategizing our shots with the right clubs before ever even addressing the ball will provide a great amount of confidence before ever swinging.

Often we find players will devalue the importance of having a dead straight shot. As more golfers place extreme value on drawing their shots in specific situations on the golf course, never get mad at yourself for performing one of the most difficult shots in the game, hitting the ball completely straight.
