Ep. #2 The Tee Drill – Putting Improvement Series by Back 2 Basics Golf

Breakout your tee and improve your golfing skills with this excellent drill. In episode two of our ten-part drill series, we are going to demonstrate The Tee Drill.

By the end of this drill, you will have more confidence in making those pesky shorter putts. Practice makes perfect, and golfing is no exception to this rule. The Tee Drill will allow you to control the direction and distance of your ball.

Consistently making short putts (3-5 feet) can have a
dramatic effect on your score. This drill will improve your
short putting and reduce the number of 3-putts that you have.

The Tee Drill

Step 1: Place a tee in the ground exactly one foot in front of your ball. Push
the tee all the way into the ground so that only the top of the tee is visible.

Step 2: Proceed to hit 20 putts, focusing only on the tee, and roll your ball
so that it goes directly over the tee.

It sounds simple, but this is an extremely effective way to build confidence
in making short putts. Starting the ball on the exact line that you intended
is an essential for good putting. You will become aware of your target line
very quickly, and will begin hitting these short putts with conviction, which
will translate to your short putts on the golf course.
