KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley women’s golf team is set to tee it up at the Kansas City Shootout on Sunday at the Shoal Creek Golf Course in their final tune up before the Western Athletic Conference Championship.
The tournament will be a 54-hole event with 36 holes being played on Sunday with the final 18 holes to be played on Monday. Both days will have an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The Shoal Creek Golf Course plays 6,950 yards and is a par 71.
The Competition
Along with UTRGV and host UMKC, other schools competing include: Creighton, Little Rock, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma Wesleyan, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Wichita State.
Last Time Out
UTRGV posted a 10th place finish at the HBU Husky Invitational with a three-round score of 991.
Emma Mesta led the way with a tie for 29th place finish with a three-round score of 241. Geraldine Torrellas finished tied for 41st with a three-round score of 248 while Tilda Green finished tied for 48th with a three-round score of 250.
Michelle Moroles finished tied for 54th with a three-round score of 252 and Jessica Young finished in 66th with a three-round score of 262.
Last Year at the Kansas City Shootout
UTRGV posted an 11th place finish at the Kansas City Shootout last year with a three-round score of 963.
Geraldine Torrellas led the way last year with a three-round score of 236 to finish tied for 27th. Michelle Moroles finished tied for 42nd with a three-round score of 241, Shweta Mansingh finished tied for 46th with a three-round score of 242, Emma Mesta finished tied for 61st with a three-round score of 246 and Daniela Mendez finished in 76th with a three-round score of 255.
Arkansas Little Rock won the team championship with a three-round score of 918 while UMKC’s Cynthia Diaz won the individual title with a three-round score of 220.
Next Up
UTRGV will have one more final test before the WAC Championship as they tee it up at the Kansas City Shootout in Kansas City, Missouri from April 9-10.
