John Hughes Golf – The 2"x4" Take Away Drill

Although many golfers think the initial take away of their golf swing gets stuck “inside,” most do not spend enough time practicing any drill to eliminate “getting stuck.” With the use of something most golfers have laying around their homes, you can practice indoors or outdoors improving the initial take away of your golf swing.

The ‘2″x4″‘ Take Away Drill is something easy to set up and easy to accomplish on any carpeted or cement floor of your home. And it can also be accomplished at the practice facility utilizing a 2″x4″ or another golf ball that acts as resistance behind your golf club. Simply place the 2″x4″ behind your club head at address. As you initiate your take away, be sure to “push” the board straight back from the golf ball. Doing so will insure you take the club back in a proper direction, eliminating the club from getting too far behind your body.
