John Hughes Golf – Control Your Putting Distance with the Ladder Drill

Sometimes there’s not enough time to properly warm up before a round of golf. What’s most important if you have a limited amount of time? Understanding and mastering Green Speed! And the Ladder Drill can assist you with that task. This is a video golf lesson you will want to watch in its entirety if you have trouble controlling the distances of your putts.

The Ladder Drill is set up anywhere on the green, using an existing hole, the edge of the green, or a randomly placed tee anywhere on the green. Similar to the rungs of a ladder being equally spaced apart, set up 3 to 4 points an equal distance in measurement pacing away from your target. Set up one to 3 balls at each point and make putts that insure the ball gets to your target. Place another club, putting green flag, or another object about 12 inches behind the target to insure you’re not pacing putts too fast.

Using the Ladder Drill on a regular basis can not only create a consistency in your putting, it can create an easy and efficient way to determine the speed of any greens you’ll play.
