Get A Greasy, Tension-Free Putting Stroke – Stan Utley

If you simply hold your hand out, forearms level to the ground, elbows back and fingers flat, take your wrist back as far back as you can and then wrist it back to the middle. Notice I didn’t say wrist it through because when I get back to the middle, the ball leaves.

I don’t want you to end up looking all wristy; I want you to use all of your arm joints. So, if you stand with your elbows bent, forearms level and it’s like we’re going for a little jog. I’m not swinging away from the target and toward the target; I’m going around my body. All of a sudden, your stroke gets greasy. We don’t want tension in our joints, and we want to hold onto the putter with authority.
