4 Ways To Use Spinning Back Kick In ITF Sparring

You might know it as Dwit Chagi, Spinning Back Kick, Back Side Kick or simply Back Kick. Spinning kicks are generally highly linked to Taekwondo more so than other martial art.

We take a look at various types of this kick including – attacking & retreating , circular & direct. This is a very powerful kick, and therefore often used to stop oncoming opponents.

It can be rare to see as an attacking technique in ITF Sparring but can be effective as we’ll see in this video. We look at some techniques often linked with it the back kick including : punching sequences, turning kick and axe kick (downward kick). These are often used as set ups and traps usually in continuation of other techniques and shots.

Timing & Distance are very important when we talk about the back kick. We will discuss some tips and tricks to help you make the back kick more efficient for bettering distance and timing to ensure you have a better chance of landing the kick in live sparring.
