Custom Driver Fitting – Is It Worth It? – by Daniel Lee

One of the most common fixes when trying to improve your golf game with your wallet, is a custom driver fitting. Going out and buying a new Taylor Made driver, or a Ping custom shaft to help you with a 40 yard slice, is going to be a never ending cycle of following the latest hardware trends. To get the most out of a custom driver fitting, first you need to understand and feel the golf swing that you intend to make.

The golf manufacturing industry has thrived for more than half a century on swing fixes being made through clubs. While it is important to find a driver that works with you rather than against you, learning the fundamentals of leverage and proper sequence is the first step to creating merit for a custom driver fitting cost.

The initial sequence begins with having a strong grasp on how to properly set your golf swing into motion. Next, is having enough room to allow your body to fall into your shot comfortably and build natural momentum. And lastly, solidifying the awareness of how the upper body should move into the downswing at the pace of gravity.

To dive deeper into these aspects of the swing that will make a custom driver fitting useful, the materials found on the links below will get you started. Or if you are ready to dive in head first into creating the best version of your golf swing possible, sign up for the Gravity Golf Challenge. –

Once you have achieved the ability to feel gravity in your golf swing, and you have begun to feel the natural power/control of momentum, you are ready to take a deeper look into a driver fitting near you. There are a few main things to look for in order to remain relaxed, while also creating the most speed possible at an efficient level. The first thing to look for is the softest shaft that you can swing, and be able to cover the ball. Most people fall into the trap of choosing a stiffer driver shaft to try and straighten up their ball flight, when in reality it causes them to flex harder in the downswing, stifling their peak ability.

One of the nuances to finding the right level of flex, is the art of back weighting your golf club. –

This can help by moving the kick point further down in the shaft, if it is slightly too stiff. Lastly, as a gravity player, another main component that will facilitate a proper fitting, is to note that a flatter lie angle will promote a more level and rotational swing, than what is common to most of the industry standards.

Thank you for your time and interest in our observations of creating an efficient golf swing that works with the laws of physics, motion and kinetic energy.  Myself, and our team of qualified Gravity Golf instructors, are here to assist in your journey of reaching the greatest heights you wish to achieve.
